Chapter 92: Chapter 92: For Him

Silas had been watching Ivy the whole time. Her ears were pink from embarrassment, and the sight made his heart skip a beat.

She looked so soft, so beautiful, especially with her pink hair tied into a messy bun. A few strands had fallen loose and rested gently on her glowing skin, which had a thin layer of sweat from the summer heat.

Holding the lunchbox in her hands, her eyes filled with worry, and her ears still slightly red, she looked like a fresh peach.

Sweet. Juicy. He suddenly wanted to hug her, or maybe even take a bite of her. His mind flashed back to when she hugged him a week ago in the car. The memory made his chest feel warm.

Without thinking, Silas leaned toward her as if dizzy. "Ugh..." he let out a soft sound and stumbled a little.

Ivy immediately reached out to catch him, worried. Henry’s words came back to her: he hasn’t eaten or slept well in six days. Maybe Silas was seriously weak?

"Silas!" she cried, grabbing his arm and letting him lean on her shoulder. His body was warm and heavy, and for a second, she felt a little shy. But she quickly shook off the feeling.

"Ivy," Silas said softly, his voice brushing against her ear, "Can you take me back to my apartment? I... I don’t think I can walk far right now."

"Of course," she said without thinking, holding him tighter. She helped him toward the parking area where military vehicles were waiting.

Behind one of the pillars nearby, Henry was peeking with only one eye showing. He watched the scene play out and sighed deeply.

"Tsk, tsk, Captain is indeed formidable. He... seriously knows how to make someone’s heart ache," he whispered to himself.

Then he looked at the salt packets he had just gotten and added in a grumble, "If it wasn’t for these salt packets, I would’ve exposed him right away."

Still, Henry didn’t leave. He stared after the car and muttered, "A goddess like Ivy should stay in our circle... and for that, Captain must win her over." He clutched the salt packets to his chest like they were precious treasure.

As he walked away, he added, "I should ask Amelia how to win a girl’s heart. I’ll teach it to the Captain before someone else snatches Ivy away. If that happens, I swear I’ll cry blood tears."

If Silas had heard Henry’s thoughts, he might have thrown him into military training for a week with no food. But right now, Silas was too busy pretending.

...

Inside the car, Ivy glanced at Silas, still worried.

"If you’re feeling dizzy... maybe we should stop here and eat lunch before going home," she offered.

Silas nodded like a tired soldier. Ivy opened the lunchbox and took out the food she had packed. The moment the lid opened, a delicious smell filled the car.

But instead of eating, Silas just looked at the spoon like it was a giant boulder.

"I don’t think I can lift it..." he said weakly.

Ivy frowned in distress. "Do you want me to feed you?"

Silas immediately sat up a little straighter. "If that’s the case... I won’t stop you."

Ivy stared at him, stunned. He looked perfectly fine, his skin healthy, his eyes focused, yet he said he couldn’t lift a spoon?

She narrowed her eyes but then glanced at the dark circles under his eyes. He really hadn’t been sleeping... maybe he was that tired.

With a small sigh, Ivy gently picked up the spoon and scooped some rice. "Open your mouth."

Silas did so without hesitation, feeling strange but happy inside. As she fed him bite after bite, his eyes never left her face. His heart pounded with a mixture of emotions.

’She’s feeding me... she actually cares.’

At that moment, he felt like the luckiest man in the world.

When the lunchbox was almost empty, Silas suddenly remembered something important.

"Ivy," he said slowly, "I used my contacts to search for the Nightbane family."

Ivy froze.

"There’s no record of them in Gotham City," he continued.

Ivy’s heart sank. In her past life, she had been so paranoid, she never asked them much. She only knew their names and voices, not their real faces. If only she had known what they looked like, it would’ve made everything easier.

Seeing the look in her eyes, Silas quickly added, "But I’m not giving up. I’ve started searching in the North. If I don’t find anything there, I’ll check the South, East, and West too. Just give me a month. I promise, I’ll find them."

Ivy stared at him, her chest feeling tight with emotion.

Silas... was really going that far for her.

In both her past life and this one, he was the only person who put her wishes before everything else. If it had been someone else, they would’ve already given up. But Silas didn’t even hesitate.

Her throat felt dry, but she managed to whisper, "Thank you."

Silas smiled, just a little.

Then Ivy hesitated again. There was something else.

"Silas..." she began softly, "I also want to know about Damien’s location."

Silas didn’t ask why. He just nodded. "When did he go missing?"

"About a week ago," Ivy said.

"I’ll find him," Silas said confidently, his voice calm but strong. "Just leave it to me."

Ivy stared at him, full of emotions. He wasn’t just helping her; he was supporting her completely, no matter what.

"Well..." Silas said softly, attracting Ivy’s attention. "Why are you in the military compound? Do you need any kind of help..." like collecting crystals.

Though he didn’t finish his words, Ivy understood. A chuckle escaped her mouth, and she explained,

"I submitted the 1000 crystals Talia had requested."

"Okay, I will help you with crystals... Wait... What?" Silas was alarmed when he heard Ivy’s words.

She did it?

SHE DID IT!

He wasn’t surprised by the fact she had accumulated 1000 crystals... but more at the fact that she had done it for him....
