Chapter 93: Chapter 93: Raid
Thump... Thump...
Silas’s heart pounded, and for a moment, he even thought it would pop out. The 99% assurity slowly transformed into 100%.
Ivy likes him! She does!
Ivy stared at his stunned expression, her eyes mesmerized by the unique shade of green and blue light in his eyes. Even Silas didn’t realize that his iris color had changed for a brief moment.
Soon... these black orbs will resemble emeralds and become capable of intoxicating almost all the women out there.
Silas, who was high on his emotions, calmed down seeing Ivy’s dazed expression. He wondered just how much she must have suffered to get 1000 crystals, and his heart ached.
"You... are you injured? If you show me, I will help you bandage it." Silas said earnestly, his eyes flashing with heartache and gentleness.
"No need. I am fine." Ivy shook her head, avoiding the gentle gaze. She changed the topic, "Um... Ronan... I wanted to ask when you would bring him to a secluded corner, along with Mark and Peter."
Silas lowered his eyes in disappointment, but quickly reprimanded himself,
’Why are you rushing? She will run away if you scare her like this. Be gentle! Take baby steps and approach her!’
With that thought, the heaviness in his heart dissipated, "I will bring them to you tomorrow."
Ivy gave a nod before checking the time and realized that it was time to meet Edward. She stated,
"I will drop you off at the apartment."
Silas sensed the anomaly in her statement and curiously inquired, "You aren’t going to return to the apartment?"
"No. I have some work to be done, so..." Ivy didn’t finish her words, but Silas understood the implication.
"If it’s okay, I can tag along and help you too." Silas offered eagerly, his deep, magnetic voice incited Ivy to accept his offer.
However, she firmly refused to be intoxicated and shook her head, "No need. It’s some... personal business that requires only my attention."
Only her attention? Silas was on alert; however, knowing his current position, he didn’t dare to probe more.
Soon, Ivy dropped him at the apartment and, ignoring the reluctant glances Silas was throwing in her direction, sped off.
Soon, she arrived at the Skyline Residential area, and her brows furrowed. The zombie influx had increased a lot and was even more peculiar... the advanced rank zombies were even in higher numbers...
What was confusing was... just the previous day, the Level-1 zombies weren’t in the majority, but today they were ruling in number.
Ivy was perplexed, reigning in her curiosity, she walked out and dealt with a few before reaching the staircase.
Sure enough, she spotted Edward, who was fighting with zombies. The moment he finished, he looked at Ivy with sparkling eyes, and when his eyes fell on the huge bag Ivy was carrying, his eyes brightened.
He helped Ivy, and soon they reached his apartment. On the way, they both maintained silence not to attract the zombies.
Placing the bags on the ground, he turned toward Ivy with a grateful smile, "Thank you. Is this the payment?"
Seeing her nod, he was filled with gratitude. To think he was selected even though he didn’t submit any resume... Ivy must have put in good words for him.
When that thought appeared in his mind, he bent down and divided the food supplies in half, and gave it to Ivy.
"Thank you so much. Without you, I wouldn’t have gotten this job."
Ivy raised an eyebrow in surprise. To think Edward would give half of the payment to her as a gratitude proved she won in her gamble.
Edward was desperate for survival, yet didn’t forget those who had helped him. Interesting.
"No need," Ivy shook her head, "As long as you do a good job, the boss promised the same amount to me as a bonus."
This time it was Edward who was stunned, but then he heaved a sigh of relief before nodding, "Alright then, I won’t force you... But in the future, if you ever need help, just find me."
Ivy nodded. After giving him the details of the job, she left under the grateful gaze of Edward.
Instead of leaving directly, Ivy rummaged through the apartment Ravencroft family had earlier resided.
She disdained the cooking equipment in the Ravencroft family and decided not to store it. Instead, she stored the induction stove and raided the place.
As long as the items were touched by the Ravencroft family, she would store them. However, soon an idea appeared in her mind, and she stored everything.
So what if she can’t use them? She can sell them in the future!
Finishing her important task, Ivy returned to the car and soon arrived at Silas’s apartment. Seeing him busy in the kitchen, she felt guilty.
Other than today, she had hardly made any food for him. And even though Silas is swamped with military work, he takes out time and makes food for her.
"Hm? You have returned? Go and take a shower, the dishes are almost done." Silas, with a spatula in his hand, wearing a plain blue apron on his casual whit t-shirt and black sweatpants, said.
Ivy fought the urge to hug him from behind and replied with an indifferent ’Hm’
Her gaze lingered on his strong biceps before she hurriedly rushed into the guest room. After taking a shower in her space, she returned.
With a neutral expression, she ate the delicious braised pork and sighed in contentment. Going forward, spices almost went extinct, and the food became tasteless, but now... it was like heaven!
Not to mention Silas’s cooking was on another level! Ivy swore that if she made these braised pork, they would still not taste as good as what Silas had made!
Silas smirked when he saw Ivy savoring the taste. A woman’s heart can be won easily as long as her stomach is captured, and he was precisely doing that.
He will make sure to convert it into Ivy’s habits. Once she developed the habit of eating his delicious food, she would automatically feel distaste toward others’ food.
