Yugioh Card Summoner -
CH.648 Duel Runner Tournament, part 6
The third day of the tournament began with another show put on by my monsters.
Meanwhile I was making sure my competitors were ready to go. The first match of the day will be Myla against Nir. Myla was nervous but ready. She had watched yesterday’s duels so she knew Nir’s deck was quite weak against removal, and her Winds combo just so happens to be amazing removal. Myla just needed to make sure Nir wouldn’t be able to OTK her, like he almost did to Ula.
Nir meanwhile was his usual self. He, like Janina, took part in the tournament for fun. Neither of them could even use the Card Summoned skill orb even if they won. So even if they lost, as long as they had fun, it was great for them. And yes, I’ve tested Janina using a skill orb, but dragons can’t use them.
As the pre-match show came to an end, I told the two duelists that they’d soon be on camera. The two were ready, so I teleported to the announcer's booth. Today, Janina joined me there. She was no longer a competitor, so while it might seem odd, it was actually perfectly fine. Besides, I need a few people to be the announcers during my match, so I want Janina to have some experience. Alice will also be joining Janina during that duel, as will a third person who will be working with me for the final match tomorrow.
As the show began, Fantasia was taking my place on the starting line. She was already the ‘start fairy’, and now she was also dealing with the Field Spell part of the start process.
Myla picked the same Field Spells as for her duel against Janina. Aroma Garden, Naturia Forest, Spiritual Forest, Gaia Power and Forest.

Nir changed his up just a bit. Dragon Ravine; Rising Air Current; Mountain; Shrine of Mist Valley stayed, but he swapped Mausoleum of the Emperor for Acidic Downpour.
Spoiler

Myla banned Shrine of Mist Valley and Rising Air Current, while Nir removed Aroma Garden and Spiritual Forest.
The track was then shuffled and Acidic Downpour was the first Field Spell. It really isn’t as bad as it sounds as it isn’t actually raining acid, but it is still not the nicest field to ride through.
Perhaps because of that, when the duel began, Myla accelerated slower than usual. Nir took the lead and the first turn of the duel.
Nir began by playing Cards of Consonance. He discarded Dragunity Phalanx and drew two cards.

He normal summoned Dragunity Dux, used Dux’s effect to equip Dragunity Phalanx to it from the GY, used Phalanx to special summon itself, and synchrod the two off to summon Dragunity Knight - Gae Dearg. With Gae Dearg’s effect, Nir searched for a second Dragunity Dux and discarded Dragunity Corsesca.

Nir then set two cards face down and ended his turn.

Myla’s turn began. She drew a card and both players gained a Speed Counter.
She began by activating Aroma Gardening. She followed that up by normal summoning Aromage Rosemary. That allowed Myla to use Aroma Gardening to gain 1000 life points, which then triggered Rosemary allowing her to change the battle position of Nir’s Gae Dearg.

Myla then moved into her battle phase, declaring an attack on Gae Dearg. But Nir responded to this by activating a trap, Burst Breath. He tributed his Gae Dearg and Myla’s Rosemary was destroyed.

Myla moved to her main phase 2, and as she did, the Field Spell changed and we entered the Naturia Forest. Nir was in the lead so he got the extra Speed Counter.
Before ending her turn, Myla special summoned Aromage Laurel from her hand into defense position. She could do that since she has more life points than Nir. She then set one card face down.

Nir’s turn began and after his draw, both players gained Speed Counters.
Nir normal summoned the Dragunity Dux he searched for last turn, he used it to equip the Dragunity Phalanx from the GY to it, and then special summoned Phalanx.
He then used the two to special summon his second Dragunity Knight - Gae Dearg and used it to search out his third Dux.
Nir moved to his battle phase and attacked Laurel. Myla didn’t stop the attack and Laurel was destroyed. But immediately after that Myla activated an effect. The effect of Aromage Marjoram in her hand.
Spoiler

Because a Plant-type monster on her field was destroyed, Myla could special summon Marjoram and then she gained 500 life points. She then triggered her Aroma Gardening, gaining 1000 more life points. Which in turn triggered Marjoram and allowed Myla to banish 1 card from Nir’s GY. Myla banished the Dragunity Phalanx so Nir could no longer reuse the same Tuner over and over again.
Nir moved to his main phase 2, and Myla took that opportunity to flip her Humid Winds and use it to search for a Aromaseraphy Angelica. She then discarded Aromaseraphy Angelica, targeting Rosemary, and gained 1800 life points.

Myla’s turn began, a card was drawn and Speed Counters gained.
She special summoned Aromaseraphy Angelica from her graveyard in defense position using its effect, used Humid Winds to search for Aromage Cananga, and she normal summoned it.
She then tuned Marjoram with Angelica and synchro summoned Aromaseraphy Sweet Marjoram. That allowed her to add one of the ‘Winds’ Traps to her hand and she added Blessed Winds.

She then used Aroma Gardening to gain life points, which triggered the effects of her two Aroma monsters. Cananga returned Nir’s face down card to his hand while Sweet Marjoram destroyed Nir’s Gae Dearg.
… is what would have happened had Nir not activated his face down card, My Body as a Shield. Since an effect was activated that would destroy a monster on the field, Nir could negate it and destroy the card. So Myla’s Sweet Marjoram was destroyed and the effect of Cananga didn’t do anything as the target was no longer on the field.
Spoiler
[collapse]
Admittedly Myla could have prevented Nir from negating her effect by stacking them in the other order, but that is more advanced Yugioh so she doesn’t know that. I did explain as much to those watching, but I'll tell Myla that later. Also, while the field is Naturia Forest and Nir did negate a card, he doesn’t actually have any Naturia monsters in his deck to search.
Myla set two cards face down and ended her turn.

Nir began his turn by drawing a card, and as soon as he had done so, Myla got to work.
She activated her two face downs, Dried Winds and Blessed Winds.
Spoiler

She used Blessed Winds, paid 1000 life points, and special summoned Aromaseraphy Sweet Marjoram from her GY. This then triggered Aroma Gardening and Myla gained back those 1000 life points. And since she gained life points, the effect of Dried Winds allowed her to destroy Nir’s Gae Dearg.
Then the standby phase arrived and both players gained a Speed Counter. Also, the next field change happened, but with her Wind combo having slowed Nir down, Myla had taken the lead as the two headed into Dragon Ravine.
Spoiler
[collapse]
Nir used Dragon Ravine on the spot. He discarded Dragunity Pilum and sent Dragunity Phalanx from his deck to his GY.
Spoiler
[collapse]
Nir followed that up by removing 4 of his Speed Counters so that he could draw an extra card. He then normal summoned Dragunity Dux, equipped Phalanx to it from his GY, and used Phalanx’s effect to summon it.
But that is as far as Nir got with what he was doing, as Myla activated the second effect of Dried Winds. Since she has 3000 more life points than Nir, she could pay LP equal to the difference and destroy face-up monsters your Nir controlled whose combined ATK is less than or equal to the LP she paid. The difference in their life points was 4800, so both of Nir’s monsters were destroyed.
Nir set a card, and was about to end his turn, but during his end phase, Myla activated Humid Winds. She paid 1000 life points to add Aromaseraphy Angelica to her hand, and followed that up by activating the second effect of Humid Winds so she would gain 500 life points. And since she did, Sweet Marjoram’s effect activated and Myla could destroy a card. So she destroyed Nir’s set card, which was a Mirror Force.

With that, Nir’s turn came to an end.

Myla’s turn, draw and standby happened.
She opened with Humid Winds, paid 1000 life points and searched out Aromage Bergamot.
She followed that up by paying another 1000 life points to activate Blessed Winds, which she used to special summon Aromage Marjoram from her GY.

She tribute summoned her Aromage Bergamot by tributing her Aromage Cananga, and then activated Aroma Gardening to gain 1000 life. And that triggered the effects of Marjoram and Bergamot. Bergamot gained 1000 attack and Marjoram banished 3 cards from Nir’s GY, Dragunity Pilum; Dragunity Phalanx and Dragunity Corsesca.
Myla entered her battle phase and attacked directly with all three of her monsters, ending the duel.

The second duel of the match was quite similar, except that Myla got Dried Winds on the field even faster, and she also got Aroma Jar onto her field with Hidden Aroma, so each turn she was destroying Nir’s stuff. And my Fenrir couldn’t recover from all that destruction, thus losing the duel.
But he is still in the bronze match, so I’m really proud of Nir. Out of over 1000 people, and a few monsters, he is in the top 4.
