Yugioh Card Summoner
CH.646 Duel Runner Tournament, part 4

Third duel of the quarter finals was Saffee vs. Shisu. Saffee was running a Quasar turbo deck while Shisu had a pure Naturia deck.

It might end up being an interesting duel, depending on things like who goes first and how well can Saffee manage her Quasar turbo deck. I know I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again. She isn’t nearly as good at it as her brother is. I almost wish Saffee would have just used her Junk toolbox deck instead of going for this Quasar turbo, but that isn’t for me to decide.

Saffee’s Field Spell picks were Starlight Junktion; Mountain; Rising Air Current; Yami and Ancient Forest.

For Shisu, she picked Naturia Forest, naturally, Forest; Gaia Power; Spiritual Forest and Sorcerous Spell Wall.

For bans, Saffee removed Naturia Forest and Gaia Power, while Shisu banned Starlight Junktion and Ancient Forest.

With that the track quickly formed, with Spiritual Forest being the first Field Spell. As the two then drew their opening hands, Saffee got a noticeable smirk onto her face. And looking at her opening hand, it was no wonder that she did. She just better hope that Shisu didn’t, as Naturia Beast could really interrupt things she can do.

Though admittedly, if she plays her cards right, even with Naturia Beast on the board, Saffee could turbo out a Quasar. Especially if she has any top deck luck. I just don’t think she is quite there yet, but we’ll see. Especially since Spiritual Forest would be a big help for Shisu going first, as her monsters will have some added protection on Saffee’s turn.

I don’t know if it was because Shisu noticed Saffee’s facial expressions, or her just wanting to go first for other reasons, but as soon as the duel began, she launched her Naturia Exterio looking D-wheel down the track. Saffee attempted to catch up before they reached the first Field Spell, but even with the slightly higher acceleration her D-wheel had, she couldn’t make up the difference and Shisu got the first Speed Counter of the duel, and the first turn.

Shisu began by normal summoning Naturia Marron. With its effect, she sent Naturia Ladybug to the GY.

She continued by special summoning Naturia Hydrangea in defense, and then she played Seed of Deception to special summon Naturia Tulip.

Spoiler

Then came the monster that might stop Saffee. Shisu tuned Naturia Marron with Naturia Tulip and synchro summoned Naturia Beast. And since Shisu synchro summoned, she could special summon Naturia Ladybug from the GY in defense position.

Shisu ended her turn by setting one spell or trap face down.

Saffee’s turn, and after her draw, both players gained a Speed Counter.

Saffee began by special summoning the Unknown Synchron she just drew.

She then activated One for One, discarding Turbo Synchron as she attempted to summon something, but Shisu used Naturia Beast to negate the spell. Naturia Beast milled Leodrake's Mane and Exterio's Fang.

And while the negation of One for One was a small setback to Saffee, needing her to rely on topdeck luck for her full combo, it wouldn’t stop her. Not yet anyway.

She normal summoned Junk Synchron from her hand and used its effect to special summon the Turbo Synchron she sent to the graveyard as One for One’s cost. And since a monster was summoned from her graveyard, Saffee could then special summon Doppelwarrior from her hand.

I hope you know what comes next. Because I do and I hyped up those who were watching for it.

“Junk Synchron tunes my Doppelwarrior. I synchro summon T.G. Hyper Librarian!” Saffee announced, as I made sure her voice carried to the live stream.

“Now, since Doppelwarrior was sent to the graveyard as a Synchro material, I get two Doppel Tokens.” She continued. “And I’ll put them to use. Turbo Synchron tunes a Doppel Token, so that I can synchro summon Formula Synchron!”

“Since I synchro summoned Formula Synchron, I get to draw a card. And if a monster is synchro summoned while I control T.G. Hyper Librarian, I also get to draw a card. So I get to draw two.” Saffee said, before drawing the two cards.

Sadly for her, the two wouldn’t allow her to go into a Quasar without a normal summon, but luckily for her…

“Now my Unknown Synchron tunes my second Doppel Token! Come forth, my second Formula Synchron!” Saffee continued.

As she performed her second Synchro summon, Saffee accelerated a lot, catching up and overtaking Shisu. And just in time as well, as the Field Spells changed and the two entered the Yami field.

“And now, I again get to draw 2 cards.” Saffee said, before doing just that. And this time, she got the card she needed. Well, she got half of it with the previous two, but now she had the other card to go along with it.

“I discard Level Eater so that I can special summon Quickdraw Synchron. I’ll then lower the level of my T.G. Hyper Librarian by 1 so that I can special summon Level Eater from my graveyard.”

“Now Quickdraw Synchron tunes my Level Eater, and I synchro summon Junk Gardna!”

“I’ll then use Junk Gardna’s effect to force your Ladybug into attack position.” Saffee continued. “And now, it is done.” She said quietly, but we all still heard her. I was tempted to hype up the viewers, but with what was coming, I didn't need to. Saffee would take care of that.

“My level 2 Synchro Tuner tunes my level 4 T.G. Hyper Librarian and my level 6 Junk Gardna.” She announced.

“When everyone’s hopes and dreams gather together as one, a new path to the future is illuminated! Watch as the dragon guiding you along that path is born!” She chanted, and as she did, a golden glow encompassed her duel runner. Just a little special effect I was throwing in for those times when Shooting Star Dragon is summoned. As for the chant, it wasn’t quite the same as the chant Hiro used when the two of them practiced, but I really liked it.

“Appear to bring us the Light of the Future! Shooting Quasar Dragon!”

Spoiler

[collapse]

The strongest Synchro monster lit up the dark Yami field to the point I was worried that it would break. Luckily this was still just an illusion of Shooting Quasar Dragon instead of the real deal. But I still don’t like how these god level, or near god level, monsters can crash my Factory if they want to. ... yeah. They can actually 'crash' my mental realm if they want. Then we just restart it but it is still a pain that they can do it in the first place.

“... since Junk Gardna was sent from the field to the graveyard, I can target a monster you control and change its battle position.” Saffee said, clearly coming down from the high of summoning Shooting Quasar Dragon. “I’m changing Naturia Hydrangea to attack position.”

“Now battle. Shooting Quasar Dragon, attack Naturia Ladybug.” Saffee declared her attack.

It went through just fine and Shisu took 3900 damage.

She then attacked Naturia Hydrangea, but Shisu had a response to that.

“I’m activating my trap!” Shisu interrupted. “Wall of Thorns! Since you attacked my Plant-Type monster, all of your attack position monsters are destroyed!”

Spoiler

[collapse]

“No.” Saffee said quietly. “I use Shooting Quasar Dragon’s effect. Once per turn, when a card or effect is activated, I can negate the activation and destroy the card. So your Wall of Thorns is negated and destroyed.”

With the tiny but futile attempt nullified, Quasar’s attack continued and Shisu lost another one of her monsters, and 2100 life points.

Saffee then moved to her main phase 2, set a card and ended her turn.

Saffee’s turn.

She began by normal summoning Synchron Explorer, and used its effect to resurrect Junk Synchron. She then tuned the two together to summon her second T.G. Hyper Librarian.

She followed that up by activating her set Call of the Haunted, resurrecting a T.G. Hyper Librarian, and she used it, her other Librarian and her Formula Synchron to summon out her second Shooting Quasar Dragon.

With the two dragons, she attacked for game, winning the duel.

The second duel between the two ended with the same result. Saffee was again able to summon her Shooting Quasar Dragon and Shisu simply could not match up to the strongest synchro monster.

Saffee moves to the quarter finals.
