Yours, Until Needed -
Chapter 153: Working Together
Chapter 153: Working Together
ELIANA
The opening was a success, and it was fulfilling to do something we’ve longed to do with the people we love.
That was probably the biggest takeaway for someone like me who had to always hide my life.
I couldn’t tell others what I was doing, nor would I talk about the people I value, afraid of interference and for their own safety.
And that wasn’t a good life.
I wasn’t aloof because my surname and status made me that way; I was aloof because I had to make sure I had as few holes as possible.
But today, I’ve taken as many photos and videos as I’d like and posted as much as I can.
My husband, who usually complained about things like this, stopped the moment I told him that it was so people would know we were married.
Though, I should’ve thought of something else because he went slightly nuts about that.
"I’m not there."
"Huh? Where?" I asked as Lucian came behind me
Lucian pointed at the photo I was about to share.
It was a photo of me in front of a bunch of guests but without this guy on there.
"Hun, it’s technically a photo of the guests. I just happened to be there with them."
His eyes narrowed, and I had to assure him that I would definitely post photos with just the two of us. Then, there were a few kisses involved so that he would relax his face while we were in a resort that should scream vacation.
Meanwhile, my husband’s face screamed recession.
Not because he didn’t like our business or our success but because I’ve had to move around to greet guests when he’s been coddling me like porcelain for days.
It’s practically an attack on his sensibilities, so I’ve let him shadow me everywhere but would have to make sure to look every now and then, or he’d be seen by the guests with that dark expression like right now.
"Just a few more hours. It should be done soon," I whispered in his ear, only to still be overheard by Rina, who was beside us.
"He’s a handful like this. It’s been hard on you, my friend."
"Not as hard as you, my girl. Between the two of us, at least I didn’t go around not knowing I’d been married already for nearly a month." I tried pursing my lips to stop the growing shit-eating grin that was threatening my face.
"Don’t even. I am still livid."
"Such glow and sparkle for someone so livid." I laughed.
"Bitch, you’re supposed to be my best friend, why are you siding with that fool."
"Girl, between the two of you, who was the fool that didn’t read? If you call him a fool, then what the hell are you supposed to be?"
*Gasp!*
"You! You’re doing this because you’re pregnant, and you know I won’t chase you to hell, no?!"
"Tsk!"
Her eyes were as big as saucers, and Rina looked murderous, in a way that friends often want to strangle their other friends.
But she looked happy otherwise, although even in her grave, she’d probably never live this down.
I mean, you could just imagine our shock when we heard loud screaming and a full-blown chase happening outside our villas.
Only to find out that she had gotten married without even knowing.
The funny part was that even her parents knew about it and thought she had known all this time. After all, Idris made sure to show them her very eye-opening video.
Anyone who saw that would probably think this was all warranted. She didn’t just ’request’ from Idris. Half the time, the poor guy was in a chokehold, threatened for not making a move fast enough or for other things, such as the mismatched rugs that she didn’t like in his house.
Even she had to give it to him. She asked for it in that manner and shouldn’t expect anything less.
It was just funny how Idris could totally adapt to it while Riri was just a full-blown mess every time he used endearment on her.
"I knew it didn’t sound right. I really should’ve known!"
"Too late, the hero. Just work hard and give me a niece; time is ticking, my friend. That school year will be hard if the baby’s alone."
"You! Why are you cursing me like this!"
"HAHAHAHAHA"
Poor girl got traumatized by how I found out about my pregnancy and had to keep on rejecting the lucrative alcohol that we were serving.
Now that she’s been cursed by me, she couldn’t help but act like a pregnant woman.
"That mouth of yours!" She kept on glaring every time possible, and the onlookers were undoubtedly surprised by how the resort owners were interacting.
This was one of the perks of starting a company with your best friend. Although there would be tough days, especially when decisions didn’t match, we’d always find ways to weather it together. Thus, we’ve come up with a solution to survive such times.
It’s probably the stupidest way possible but, at the same time, the most guaranteed.
After that last argument between the facilities, we realized that we needed to set ground rules to make sure we survived work as best friends.
"You realize these are petty issues, right? That even if the company falls tomorrow, we’d survive. But if I fall tomorrow, you might die of extreme heartache." Rina said dramatically.
"Way to increase your importance in my life." I retorted as I lay down on the couch, exhausted from the argument.
"You’re lucky I didn’t curse you with double reincarnation. Because I know you’d miss me that much to follow me into the next life."
"So, given that, can we just get both? Girl, honestly, we should probably stop thinking like idiots. Can’t we at least enjoy life by making use of a little nepotism? We’re arguing about a slide, for heaven’s sake!" She stretched her arms in anger, and I couldn’t help but chuckle.
"Yeah, you’re right. Maybe I should stop being a bitch and just tell my husband that a slide and a few fountains would look nice right there." I crinkled my nose in acceptance.
"Yes. I swear we could’ve saved at least three hours!"
"HAHAHAHA!"
It wasn’t bright or glamorous, but I swear it would ensure our most harmonious working relationship for years to come.
