Chapter 154: Important Meeting
Chapter 154: Important Meeting
LILY
The little girl had been so absorbed in life that she’d taken her life problems to school.
By now, even Joshua and a few of her classmates, sans the purged Trinity, were already aware that she was about to have a little niece or nephew, and she had been very excited.
But that was also the source of her most recent concerns.
Lily couldn’t understand why the adults were taking it all in stride. Why did no one else think there was too little time now and that they wouldn’t have enough time to prepare for the baby’s arrival?
Of course, as a child, Lily’s focus differed from that of the adults. And that was largely because of the differing opinions she’s been getting from her classmates.
They told her the baby might not like her if she didn’t get the right toy or game. Some of the kids described how the babies at their house would cry when they weren’t given what they wanted.
Lily’s mood plummeted as she heard about these disasters.
She had planned to be the best aunt. And to do that, she must be the best at everything. But her classmates kept saying they couldn’t determine what the babies liked.
Then, one particular classmate said that her baby cousins seemed to like particular colors, claiming that boys liked this while girls liked another. But the poor children didn’t know that the babies never got to choose those colors, nor were they able to differentiate them immediately.
Then, out of nowhere, Joshua asked, "So, Lily, is the baby a boy or a girl?"
"I... I don’t know. Big Sis hadn’t announced it yet." Lily fidgeted as she saw her classmates look at each other.
If adults could see this children’s meeting, they’d think they were talking about national politics and not a baby’s gender.
Lily realized that this was a big problem since many of her friends said that it seemed like an important thing to know.
In fact, they even attended important ’meetings’ (actually just parties) where everyone in the family would anticipate and guess the gender and those who got it right would win.
Now, Lily, a full-blooded Sinclair, heard ’winning,’ and her mind raced, insanely curious about this meeting.
She spent the rest of the day in school soliciting information about how the meetings would go and what she should do for them to be successful.
And, of course, her very supportive classmates helped her draft a proposal for the meeting in crayons and chalk.
When she got home, she immediately asked her Grandpa for an opinion. If there were one person who could give her the best advice for a successful meeting, then it would definitely be her Grandpa.
"Lily, I heard you wanted to talk about something?"
"Yes, Grandpa! Today in school, my friends told me about a step we seem to be missing!"
"A step, you say? And we’re missing it?"
"Yes. Grandpa! A very important step!" Lily looked up at him with her eyes shining with determination.
"My friends told me about the importance of holding that meeting where the whole family finds out about the baby’s gender. They said it was important to guess right because there would be a price."
Lily earnestly recounted today’s experience and all the important information that she had gathered.
When she was finally done, she asked her Grandpa to review her proposal.
The child was grateful for her Grandfather’s help and very appreciative of him reviewing her work. However, unbeknownst to the young child, a recorder was running to document her first formal presentation.

ELIANA
That night, I received a very unexpected video, it was Lily having a serious conversation with their Grandpa about hosting a meeting.
I found her very cute, as usual, but started laughing after realizing what this was all about.
"Hun, look at this!"
Lucian scooted over, trying to see what I was showing him.
"Lily?"
"Yeah! I was wondering why Grandpa would send this to us, and now I know. This little baby wants to have a gender reveal ’meeting.’" I laughed because I was so curious at how a gender reveal party, ended up turning into a meeting.
It’s likely something she came up with her new friends at school.
She was so cute as she clutched that paper with crayon writings all over that I couldn’t help but want to hold one to make her happy.
It was good to have someone like Lily, who was so excited about it that she thought about it day and night.
"You want to hold one?" Lucian asked.
"Yeah, I kinda do. Can you come with me to the hospital?"
Lucian’s back straightened up because hearing the word hospital would normally make him panic like this.
"I’ll get tested for the gender, but I also want to keep it a secret! We could find out about it with everyone."
Just imagining it was enough to make me smile, and it wasn’t that easy to dissuade Lucian when I reminded him that it’d allow us to have an extra checkup.
And that was something this guy wouldn’t decline.
No one was more particular about my health than my husband, and he would probably scan me daily if it were possible and guaranteed safe. But since I didn’t like that, and I was now offering to be tested, there was no way he wouldn’t jump at the opportunity.
The poor guy was so invested in checking the test that he was antsy that a result was kept from him as a surprise.
"Lucian, you realize we’ll find out about it this weekend, right?"
"And you realize it’s a full four days from me today?"
"Honey, are you looking forward to a boy or a girl?" I realized I never asked him and was a bit nervous that he’d prefer one over the other.
"I don’t mind whichever. I just hope for a healthy baby. Everything else could follow."
"Really?" That was a bit surprising but, at the same time, a very Lucian thing.
"I didn’t even think of having one, so why be picky all of a sudden?"
"And even if we get one that’s really annoying, it’ll still be our child. So what’s the use of worrying about that? What I’m concerned about is how it’d affect you. They do say that it’s difficult to carry bigger babies, and that’s what I want to see."
I wanted to roll in laughter because of all the things my husband was curious about, all he wanted to know was whether this was going to be a fat baby.
Meanwhile, the meeting slash party suddenly became a betting then when a young child in a suit came rushing down with a giant tablet to record everyone’s bets.
When I asked Lily about the prize she wanted for this very important meeting, I got a very unconventional answer: she said that the people who got the correct answer should be given the right to visit me first once the baby is born.
"Wow, that’s rather smart! But are you sure you’d be okay with that? What happens if you don’t get it right?"
"Don’t worry, Big Sis! I’ll get it right!"
"You’re confident?" I asked and got an earnest nod from the cute child."
"Wow! Even Chester’s supporting you!"
"Yes, because he knows we’d win!"
"Why so, darling?"
"Because my brother would never lose!" She said confidently. I had to blink because I couldn’t understand what she meant.
"But then the results came out, and the little cutie was right. Her Big Brother would never lose."
It was a boy.
And Lucian’s reasoning? He was already jealous of a baby that hadn’t been born.
That day, a few people rejoiced, while others, like one poor girl named Lara, thought it was the end of the world.
