Chapter 119: Post

Chapter 119: Post

What the alleged better choice didn’t realize was that company executives, especially the likes of Chairman Sinclair, wouldn’t normally have the time to meet interns like her.

Not unless someone orchestrated it to happen. But Alexa was too happy to realize that. After all, she was so used to meeting her Grandfather and other important people that it never entered her mind.

The meeting wasn’t difficult or anything, and she practically had a spring in her steps the moment she got out of his office.

That’s one important step done!

All she had to do now was to let the gossip spread as far as possible. Then there’s making herself look better in front of everyone. But that’ll have to wait until Eliana’s reputation is in shambles.

Then that idiot Nicholas could just rescue her from here and effectively get her away from Lucian.

Not that she planned on stopping to torment Eliana once she’s been thrown away by Lucian, but it’ll have to wait until she’s fully integrated into the family.

I heard that bitch even managed to get close to that little imp. I remember Sasha saying that her sister was a classmate of Lucian’s sister.

Ugh. That stupid Trinity bullied that girl too much, and now she’ll have to find a way to disassociate herself from Sasha and her family.

Aunt Serena wouldn’t be too happy if she discovered I’m associated with that stupid kid.

By now, most of the employees have turned in actual work, but just as always, Alexa was just resting at her cubicle, plotting her way through the work hours while imagining her future life.

In her mind, she’s gone as far as to replace that dog, Chester, who never liked her. Just a bit of rat poison should do the trick because an open door might not fool that dog. It would be impossible to keep a dog like that, especially when Lucian didn’t like housekeepers in his presence.

That would also have to change.

Alexa wouldn’t survive without maids surrounding her. Not that she was born like that, but because she now knows she deserves it.

Tsk.

It’s such a happy day to remember the horrors of the past.

So, Alexa focused on the good things as well as her new plans.

She overheard a few people talking about seeing Nicholas and Eliana at the convenience store, which was perfect for Alexa’s plans. Now, a few of her people tried to bribe the convenience store employees to get a copy of the surveillance footage.

If there was something meaty on there, that would be great. If not, she would just fabricate one.

How hard could that be?

They just had to look like they were having elicit meet-ups. And at the premises of SCC? Wouldn’t that just be sensational?

Sometimes, Eliana could be so stupid. But, thank heavens, she was.

Soon, normal people like her would leave the office, and only the ones who actually worked would remain.

But then Alexa stopped in her tracks when she overheard Julia, that relatively passable SCC employee, talk about a social media post.

"Hey! Look, have you seen this? The boss’ wife posted about her graduation."

"What? Where? Show me." Another employee said while grabbing Julia’s phone.

"Careful about that, I just bought that!" Exclaimed the lowborn.

This made Alexa pull out her own phone, wanting to see just what that bitch posted that got these employees to stop toiling.

It wasn’t just one post but several, thanking people for their well wishes and congratulations, along with photos of their gifts and flowers.

Alexa had a bad feeling about this, so she went to the second-to-last post, which had the same flowers she’d been yapping about.

Then, it was there that she posted a thank you for some girl named Lara.

The post said: "Thank you for the peonies! I loved them, but you should’ve just come!"

The post came with a photo of Lucian assisting her as she showed him the card. She was even laughing at it.

Alexa’s face darkened. How could that be when she clearly saw the receipt for white roses? And she knew they were going to be delivered to Eliana.

But even Alexa’s untrained eyes, who never took her flower language classes too seriously, could now tell with these up close pictures that these were indeed peonies.

Is this why Lucian was fine standing next to Eliana back then?

Alexa pursed her lips in indignation.

Did that Nicholas fuck with her?!

But she couldn’t think about that now that people were starting to look at her.

That Julia’s mouth spread the word much faster than she did this morning. And by now, most people looked at her with complicated eyes.

Thankfully, she kept on insisting that she wasn’t sure. So, she was just going to pretend to be relieved about her guess being incorrect.

Now, instead of leaving the office on time, Alexa had to stay to handle the aftermath of Eliana’s post. But before she hid her phone, she saw her last post.

It was inside an office, where she sat while laughing candidly. She was showered with so many flowers that it looked like a sunroom.

Her post read, "Lastly, thank you to my husband, who has a different concept of gifting flowers. You really didn’t have to buy a flower shop!"

Now Alexa was fuming in rage. Not only did she make her look like a liar, but she had to rub it in her face that they had a good enough relationship for Lucian to buy a whole-ass flower shop.

She felt like she was seeing red, and she had to clutch onto the nearest table in anger.

Who does she think she is?!

What was so great about getting flowers when it was all for show?!

Alexa was seething and angry, but she had to control her expression when several employees approached her to ask about the post.

It was at this time that many people tried comparing the photos and videos from third parties to look at the flowers. And to their surprise, they really were peonies, just grouped so tightly that they looked like white roses unless scrutinized.

"It seems like you were mistaken earlier. The flowers were clearly peonies and not roses."

Alexa realized that she wouldn’t have had that big of a problem had she not identified the flowers. Then she could’ve claimed that the card was just a cover-up.

Was it possible that Lucian informed her about the gossip, or was this really just a coincidence?

She wanted more time to ponder, but she had to keep explaining that it was a good thing she was wrong and that she was right to hesitate earlier.

Then, it was then that she remembered her meeting with the Chairman.

That caused her to hit the desk with her fist. This was more than just a provocation; it was an attack.

Now, she’d have an even harder time ingratiating herself into the family when Eliana’s made her look like a liar.

Alexa took a deep breath and decided to get back at Eliana for toying with her.

That bitch is so dead.
