Young Noble Be Monster Slaying
Chapter 958: Until One of Us Falls (I)

Realizing where the chanting was coming from, the Discipline Master glanced at the Great High Priest and frowned.

She asked, "What are you chanting?"

"Ahem," the Great High Priest coughed sheepishly. "Just adding a bit of grandeur for our god's return."

The Discipline Master rolled her eyes at him. "If you're just here to watch, keep it quiet."

The Great High Priest lowered his head sullenly and apologized, "S-sorry."

Aside from the Demon God, the Great High Priest held the most power in the demon race, and he was practically the leader of the Far West demon tribes. However, his status dropped the moment he stepped into Mount Shu. The members of the Mount Shu Sect, especially the female members, had never shown deference to demons.

As the noise from the people in the background died down, Tuntun's presence grew stronger. Her eyes were still half-closed, and she was glowing with blazing golden light that radiated divine might. The display of power was so overwhelming that even Evil Ksitigarbha didn't dare approach her, retreating to a distance instead.

Nevertheless, it was too late. Tuntun leaped forward and then landed on Evil Ksitigarbha's shoulder in a flash. The golden light around her converged into a tangible vortex of spiritual qi, ripping into Evil Ksitigarbha's shoulder.

As his shoulder split open, a wave of spiritual qi flowed out, drawn straight into Tuntun's vortex. She had finally activated the Great Dao fused with the Demon God's life essence—the Great Dao of Devouring!

Evil Ksitigarbha groaned, "Ugh…"

He felt as if a fierce leech had latched onto his shoulder, draining his spiritual qi at a maddening speed. He quickly raised a hand to smack Tuntun off.

Wham!

His palm struck down and smashed his shoulder into chunks. Yet, when he turned to look, another vortex had already appeared on his other shoulder.

Tuntun had already shifted to the opposite shoulder before Evil Ksitigarbha even made his move. She continued devouring his blood essence without pause.

It was all thanks to Evil Ksitigarbha's nearly inexhaustible spiritual qi that he managed to withstand her continuous siphoning. Anyone with a slightly lower cultivation level would have long since been drained into a shriveled corpse.

Realizing that something was wrong, Evil Ksitigarbha shrank back down to the size of a human. Using his enlarged form increased his destructive power, but it had too many openings for Tuntun to exploit. In his humanoid form, he could use a combat stance that gave him a better chance of defending against Tuntun's unpredictable devouring.

As expected, Tuntun now found it harder to land a hit, but it didn't matter. She suddenly appeared behind him, grabbed the back of his neck, and bit down hard.

"AAAAARRRRGHHH!!!" Evil Ksitigarbha roared furiously.

Glowing black-gold spiritual qi gushed out of his neck. Tuntun clung to Evil Ksitigarbha's back and effortlessly sank her teeth deeper into his thick, iron-like neck, sucking in his spiritual qi ravenously.

Evil Ksitigarbha's fear and panic could be seen on his face. He summoned all his devil fire and condensed it at the back of his neck.

Boom!

This time, he finally hit Tuntun, blasting her hundreds of zhang away.

"Blegh," Tuntun uttered in a daze as she spat on the ground. She muttered, "Tastes bad… and it burns my mouth…"

Evil Ksitigarbha was livid.

Who told you to eat me, huh? Just who told you to eat me?

You drained so much of my spiritual qi, yet you're being picky, complaining that it tastes bad?

Evil Ksitigarbha let out an enraged roar. "RAAAAAAAAAAAAR!!!"

He raised a hand and gathered his devil fire, condensing it into a pure black flaming spear. No longer daring to fight Tuntun barehanded, Evil Ksitigarbha manifested a legendary weapon of extreme evil.

Tuntun bared her little fangs, making a ferocious expression. "Grrr…"

Whoosh.

Evil Ksitigarbha lunged forward, brandishing his Devil Fire Spear. The earth trembled, and the mountains shook, shifting all of Mount Shu. It was clear just how terrifying his power was.

He thrust the spear straight at Tuntun.

As for Tuntun, her only weapon seemed to be her little fangs...

Shiiik.

A sound like that of a blade ripping silk rang out, and every gaze on Mount Shu sharpened in alarm. Evil Ksitigarbha's spear had run straight through Tuntun!

Yet, in the very next moment, Evil Ksitigarbha's enraged expression turned into one of shock.

He realized that as the Devil Fire Spear pierced into Tuntun's abdomen, it began to disintegrate from the tip, all the way to the shaft. If he didn't let go, Tuntun would begin absorbing his spiritual qi again.

The Demon God had fused with the Great Dao of Devouring… Every drop of her spirit blood carried the terrifying power of devouring. Be it a divine ability or weapon, she could devour anything that was used to attack her and turn it into part of her own body.

In the blink of an eye, the Devil Fire Spear vanished. There was a rip in Tuntun's clothes, but there was no trace of blood or injury on her. The spiritual qi she had just absorbed had healed her wounds.

A chill ran down Evil Ksitigarbha's spine.

He realized he was still standing only because the young lady didn't know how to fight. Most of her actions were guided by instinct. If she had even a little more combat training, his fate would be the same as before, when he was suppressed and sealed tens of thousands of years ago. He wouldn't have another chance to unleash evil.

It was a pity that the Hallowed One of the mortal realm today was a sweet child who didn't know how to fight. That was Evil Ksitigarbha's great fortune and the mortal realm's immense misfortune.

A cruel glint flashed in Evil Ksitigarbha's eyes. He suddenly turned around and lunged toward the watching bystanders.

During the battle between Evil Ksitigarbha and Tuntun, Venerable Wen Yuan had been pretty busy. He had used the Great Dao of Primordial Chaos to twist space and evacuated most of the Mount Shu Sect members. Aside from some spirit beasts and birds, the only ones left on Mount Shu now were the Eminent Ones watching the battle.

Among them, Baize and the Great High Priest had the highest cultivation levels.

Seeing Evil Ksitigarbha charge over, Venerable Wen Yuan immediately activated the Great Dao of the World and escaped with the several elders beside him. Baize transformed and slipped into her Yin-Yang Realm.

Only the Great High Priest remained. He was not skilled in direct combat. His usual role in battle was to boost the spiritual qi of demon warriors, enhancing their power tenfold or even a hundredfold.

However, the Great High Priest was in a situation where there were no demon warriors standing between him and the enemy.

Evil Ksitigarbha dove down and threw a punch straight at the Great High Priest.

Boom!

There was almost no resistance. The Great High Priest exploded within the illumination of the devil fire, turning into a massive cloud of blood mist.

The cloud's massive size was because he reverted to his true form just as he was about to die. The Great High Priest was actually an enormous seven-colored earthworm.

There was a thud, and something heavy fell into the sea of clouds, vanishing into the earth in an instant. The Great High Priest had cut off his body at the final moment, narrowly escaping with just his head and his life.

He was in a miserable state and had lost much of his cultivation power, but at least he had survived.

Evil Ksitigarbha inhaled all the blood-stained qi in the air in one deep breath. Then he let out a hiss of satisfaction with a rather pleased expression.

Born of absolute evil, Evil Ksitigarbha thrived on blood-stained qi—qi that was filled with all kinds of negative emotions such as fear, resentment, and hatred. It greatly enhanced his spiritual power.

"Has he gone mad?" Di Nufeng shouted furiously from afar.

Evil Ksitigarbha no longer focused on the Demon God. Instead, he switched to slaughtering the weak—every living being except the Demon God.

The Mount Shu Sect cultivators had already been evacuated, but many of the remaining spirit beasts and birds failed to escape in time. Wherever Evil Ksitigarbha descended, a seemingly endless wave of devil fire would surge upward and blast the spirit beasts and birds to death, filling the sky with blood-stained qi. Then he would absorb every last bit of that blood-stained qi.

This blood-stained qi contained spiritual qi, making it a precious treasure to him. Mount Shu was soon filled with agonized cries. No spirit beast, spirit bird, or demonic beast could escape his vicious hands.

Hearing the cries around her and seeing such senseless killing, Tuntun grew enraged. She followed Evil Ksitigarbha's trail of slaughter to chase him down.

After Evil Ksitigarbha had slaughtered the creatures inhabiting over a dozen peaks, Tuntun finally caught up to him. In the form of a beam of golden light, she slammed into him and knocked him down. She conjured another vortex of spiritual qi and began devouring Evil Ksitigarbha's spiritual qi once more.

However, Evil Ksitigarbha did not try to avoid it this time. He pressed his palms together, conjuring a mass of inky black blood-stained qi. It tainted the vortex of golden spiritual qi, dying it black.

Nevertheless, Tuntun devoured all of the blood-stained qi without hesitation.

Boom!

A deafening explosion rang out as devil fire surged upward once more. This time, it engulfed Tuntun from head to toe!

"This is…" Venerable Wen Yuan furrowed his brows. "His devil fire can ignite resentment-filled qi!"

Those who died violent deaths would leave behind blood-stained qi filled with hatred and resentment. Most people were unable to sense it, but resentment-filled qi was like a highly potent toxin.

Totally unaware of that, Tuntun had absorbed the condensed blood-stained qi, and the resentment-filled qi immediately coiled around her.

Initially, she had no fear of Evil Ksitigarbha's devil fire. However, now that she had resentment-filled qi inside and around her, even she could not escape unscathed this time.

"Aaaaaahhh!!!" Tuntun cried out in pain.

Compared to Evil Ksitigarbha, Tuntun was extremely lacking in battle experience and knowledge, leading her to fall for his trap. Seeing his scheme succeed, Evil Ksitigarbha raised a fist and ruthlessly drove it hard into Tuntun's abdomen.

Boom!

That fist, wreathed in devil fire, sent Tuntun flying through the air. She smashed through three mountain peaks before finally falling beneath the sea of clouds.

"Hee-hee-hee…" Evil Ksitigarbha let out a sinister laugh and shot off in a beam of black light.

Now that the battle was in his favor, he was going to finish Tuntun off!
