Young Noble Be Monster Slaying -
Chapter 957: The Return of a God
In that moment, everyone turned toward Di Nufeng, wanting to tell Tuntun… Yes, that's how you fight!
If anyone wanted to learn poetry, music, rites, astronomy, or geography, they had better steer clear of Di Nufeng. However, if they wanted to learn about drinking, brawling, gambling, and fighting, then there was no better teacher than Di Nufeng.
Right now, she was giving Tuntun a perfect demonstration.
Di Nufeng had just advanced to the eighth realm and was filled with sorrow at having lost her father. She charged toward Evil Ksitigarbha with an unstoppable momentum and the furious desire to avenge her father.
After finding out from the Circle of Immortal Friends that Evil Ksitigarbha had destroyed the capital of Yu, it was obvious that he had killed the Imperial Guardian, Mingde, as well.
Evil Ksitigarbha's true form had previously appeared on Mount Shu during the Mount Shu Summit, so Di Nufeng wouldn't mistake anyone else for Evil Ksitigarbha. The moment she saw that ugly thing show up, she charged at him.
The Great Dao of Incinerating Heaven resonated with Di Nufeng to an extraordinary degree. This Great Dao had been born for destruction, so it had never been fully compatible with the Imperial Guardians, who were meant to protect.
It wasn't just that they utilized a lot of restraint when they used the Great Dao of Incinerating Heaven; their hearts were simply not aligned with the Great Dao itself. However, Di Nufeng was different. Even without the Great Dao of Incinerating Heaven, she was a destroyer through and through.
Booooom!
The burst of Samadhi True Fire surging toward Evil Ksitigarbha was so searing hot that even he felt pressured. The worst injury he'd suffered had been from Mingde's fire arrow piercing his chest. Now that he was faced with Samadhi True Fire again, he had no intention of taking it head-on.
Evil Ksitigarbha covered himself in devil fire to counter the Samadhi True Fire. The black flames and violet-gold flames entwined. Like a venomous snake coiling around a blazing phoenix, the two fires instantly locked in a deadly struggle.
As the flames clashed, Di Nufeng and Evil Ksitigarbha collided for the first time.
There was nothing complex about Di Nufeng's fighting style. She spread her flaming wings wide open and swiftly dove toward Evil Ksitigarbha, ruthlessly throwing a heavy punch right at his face.
Evil Ksitigarbha was stunned.
Why would a mere human beneath the level of a Hallowed One dare provoke me like this? Is she not afraid of me?
Naturally, he didn't hold back against Di Nufeng. He raised his fist and threw out a heavy punch of his own.
The moment their fists made contact, a thunderous sound rang out, and Di Nufeng was sent flying!
Boom!
She crashed into the mountainside. The earth swallowed her blazing form, embedding her into the mountain.
"Ah Feng?" the Discipline Master called out. She quickly extended her thorned whip and fished Di Nufeng out of the crater.
Di Nufeng spat out a mouthful of blood. Gritting her teeth, she replied, "I'm fine. That little shit took more damage than I did."
"Maybe stand up before you say that…" the Discipline Master said, feeling dumbfounded.
The right side of Di Nufeng's body had been crushed. Her right arm and the right side of her chest had caved into the earth as a bloody, mangled mess of flesh and bone.
Di Nufeng gave a dismissive snort. "This is all superficial. His injuries are internal."
The "internally injured" Evil Ksitigarbha was still hovering in midair. He just felt a bit hot. Di Nufeng's attack hadn't injured him in the slightest.
Evil Ksitigarbha continued to lock his stream of qi firmly onto Tuntun, a sinister grin spreading across his face. "Let's see if the mortal realm's current Hallowed One has the power to defeat me this time too."
Tuntun blinked, clearly flustered. She possessed the greatest power in the mortal realm, but she had the mind of a child.
After a pause, Tuntun took a deep breath and asked quietly, "How do I defeat him?"
"Just attack him like Di Nufeng did earlier," Venerable Wen Yuan instructed. "Pour all your strength into the strike."
"Okay…" Tuntun nodded and clenched her hands into fists, trying to psych herself up. She let out a girlish yell, clearly sounding like a child. "Evil little shit! Your life ends nooow!"
Tuntun then charged toward Evil Ksitigarbha at lightning speed.
"You didn't need to copy her foul language too…" Venerable Wen Yuan muttered, facepalming.
…
There was no denying it. The power of a Hallowed One was indeed terrifying. Tuntun charged forward at such a high speed that even eighth-realm Eminent Ones couldn't track her movements. In the blink of an eye, she was already in front of Evil Ksitigarbha.
Initially, Evil Ksitigarbha had an estimated gauge of a Hallowed One's power. However, since his awakening, he had only fought with eighth-realm "weaklings," and he had gotten used to their level. So, he was caught off guard by Tuntun's tremendous power.
Whoosh.
Tuntun mimicked what Di Nufeng had done earlier and threw a punch straight at Evil Ksitigarbha's face! But this time, he didn't react fast enough!
He managed to raise a hand to shield his head, but Tuntun's small fist just blasted straight into his hand.
Wham! Boom!
That punch sent Evil Ksitigarbha crashing into the sea of clouds below! The entirety of Mount Shu trembled and rumbled from the impact!
The surrounding Mount Shu disciples were stunned with fear, witnessing the proof that Tuntun was indeed a Hallowed One. Despite her thin arms and legs, her full-powered attack was tremendously powerful.
Fortunately, the Demon God was on their side this time, so the disciples felt at ease. News of the capital's destruction had traveled fast. If this monstrous guy had shown up and Mount Shu didn't have the Demon God here to hold the line, they had no idea how they would've survived.
Nevertheless, Tuntun didn't celebrate just yet. She could tell that she had failed to injure Evil Ksitigarbha severely. That one punch had stunned Evil Ksitigarbha, but it wasn't enough to end the battle.
Moments later, the sea of clouds began to churn. The vast white clouds rolled wildly and turned pitch-black, like ink spilling across the sky!
From the tumbling clouds surged waves of black devil fire. Then, like a mountain rising from the earth, Evil Ksitigarbha's massive true form burst out! With a sweep of his giant hand, he slammed it down toward Tuntun.
Tuntun dodged again, darting through the air with incredible speed.
However, just as she came to a stop, Evil Ksitigarbha's other hand came flying at her as a fist. This strike was even faster than the one before. It turned out the first strike had only been a feint, meant to catch her off guard so the real blow could land once her guard was down!
Boom!
Tuntun was sent flying through the air by the punch. Just like Di Nufeng did earlier, Tuntun crashed into that same mountainside, becoming embedded in the earth. When the dust finally settled, Tuntun climbed out. Her injuries weren't serious, but she wasn't exactly in good condition to fight. Her brave facade was gone.
Pouting her lips, Tuntun burst into tears. "Waaaaaaaaah!!! Why does he have to fight me?"
With a pure and innocent mind, Tuntun had only recently begun to understand how human society functioned. The aggression Evil Ksitigarbha directed at her completely contradicted what she had learned, so it was only natural for her to feel wronged.
Everyone present sighed helplessly. It was truly like the saying, "You reap what you sow." In battles between cultivators of the same realm, their willpower played an extremely important role. If the Demon God continued fighting with the mindset of a sweet and innocent child, then there was no doubt she would lose.
Evil Ksitigarbha let out a roar and hurled another punch wreathed in devil fire. As expected, Tuntun didn't even try to fight back. She simply leaped away and fled to a distant peak.
The Mount Shu Sect elders who had been on that peak quickly scrambled away, just in time before Evil Ksitigarbha shattered it.
"This can't go on…" the Conservation Master muttered with a frown. "The Demon God is the only one who can fight him. But if she doesn't dare to face him, then no one in this world can stop him. If this continues, the destruction of Mount Shu will be the least of our problems."
As everyone fell into panic and despair, a streak of fire rushed over and stopped in front of the Demon God.
"Hey, little one."
It was Di Nufeng, still heavily injured. She hadn't even treated her wounds before going to find Tuntun.
Tuntun looked up at her with large, limpid eyes full of innocence.
"Here." Di Nufeng pulled out a wine gourd and placed it in Tuntun's hands. "Drink it. All of it."
"This is…" Memories suddenly flooded Tuntun's mind, reminding her what it was. She quickly waved her hand, rejecting the wine. "No, no. Big Bro Chu Liang said I'm not allowed to touch this ever again…"
"He does what I say, and so should you!" Di Nufeng said firmly. "If I tell you to drink it, just drink it. If you don't, you're not giving me any respect!"
"This…"
Tuntun looked troubled, but when she saw the fierce look in Di Nufeng's eyes, she knew she couldn't refuse. So, she raised the wine gourd and started gulping it down.
She had to admit that the first time she drank wine, she actually really liked it. And after drinking all of it, she felt fuzzy and dizzy, making her feel strangely happy and at peace.
If Chu Liang hadn't strictly forbidden her from drinking wine again, she probably would have sneaked another sip.
Evil Ksitigarbha was quite baffled by the scene of the Demon God chugging down wine in the middle of the battle. He had no idea why she was doing that, but he wasn't going to let her do as she pleased, of course.
Evil Ksitigarbha raised his huge arms, bringing his hands together.
He intended to kill Tuntun like she was a mosquito, crushing her between his palms.
Evil Ksitigarbha's hands closed in on Tuntun, producing a thunderous whoosh. It looked like Tuntun was about to be crushed to death! The Great High Priest even stomped his foot in alarm.
However, Evil Ksitigarbha quickly sensed that something wasn't right. "Hm?"
His palms hadn't met. A small gap remained between them, just wide enough for a teenage girl.
Fwoosh.
A ray of golden light shot out from the gap, followed by a second, then a third… In the blink of an eye, countless golden rays burst out like blades, piercing Evil Ksitigarbha's hands. The sharp stabs of pain forced him to hurriedly pull his hands apart.
Between his hands stood Tuntun with her eyes half-closed. She was shrouded in brilliant golden light and emitting waves of terrifying demonic power, though it was unclear whether she was conscious. The radiant light she emanated made every living being in the mortal realm tremble in awe.
That light then converged at a single point, aimed straight at Evil Ksitigarbha.
A quiet chant rang out, its source unknown.
"Those who defy the might of God shall be punished by God.
"Those who stand against God shall have their bodies destroyed and souls erased."
