Young Noble Be Monster Slaying -
Chapter 959: Until One of Us Falls (II) (Teaser)
At that moment, the bow of a massive bronze ship suddenly appeared from the void. It sliced through the fabric of space like a blade and rushed out with great force.
CRACK!
The ship struck Evil Ksitigarbha square in the waist and rammed forward with unstoppable momentum, as if trying to cleave him in two.
Someone was using a ship manipulation technique!
This bronze ship was none other than the Vessel of God. After aiding the revival of the capital of Yu, the immortal sects' Eminent Ones speculated that Evil Ksitigarbha's next target would likely be Mount Shu. However, all of them had exhausted their cultivation power and needed time to recover, so the Whale-Riding Immortal and his family broke through the void with the Vessel of God, hurrying back to Mount Shu.
They arrived right at the critical moment.
"You're finally back!" Di Nufeng cried out excitedly.
"Watch me ram this evil little shit to death!" the Whale-Riding Immortal yelled from within the bridge of the ship.
As he steered the Vessel of God, he had it transform into a flying sword. It surged forth violently with the Cloud of Determination sword qi, aiming to cleave Evil Ksitigarbha in half at the waist.
"Haaaaaaaah!!!"
However, the Mount Shu Sect's advantage over Evil Ksitigarbha did not last long. The Vessel of God was certainly a match for him, but it did not have the power to deal a fatal blow. His corporeal body was simply too formidable.
After getting pushed back over ten li, Evil Ksitigarbha mustered all his strength in midair and pressed his hands onto the bronze prow, forcing the ship to a halt.
Boom! Boom!
Enlarging his form once again, Evil Ksitigarbha clamped his massive hands around the prow of the Vessel of God and lifted it high, preparing to slam it down with tremendous force.
Nonetheless, the Whale-Riding Immortal was not the only one on the ship.
Countless glowing threads, similar to that of spider silk, wrapped around Evil Ksitigarbha, binding him up tightly. The ends of the glowing threads then converged in the palm of Bai Yuxian.
As an eighth-realm Eminent One from the Divine Ruins Monastery, she had immense cultivation power and a similarly mighty arsenal of enchanted artifacts. The enchanted artifact she had summoned was the Thousand-Strand Immortal-Binding Net. It was an ancient treasure that had once fallen from the Divine Ruins and was capable of capturing even immortals.
Seeing that the threads looked very fine, Evil Ksitigarbha tried to break free with brute force. However, he quickly realized that the threads redirected the force he exerted back onto himself. The harder he struggled, the tighter they bound him.
He then conjured a wave of devil fire, attempting to burn away the enchanted artifact. The threads flickered violently, clearly under immense strain.
Nevertheless, before he could break free, another figure descended from the sky.
Chu Liang arrived like a flash of lightning and grabbed one of the glowing threads with a free end. The Dragon God's Orb roared to life, and he poured all the power from his Great Dao of Divine Clouds into the thread.
Rumble.
A deluge of yang lightning surged through the net's threads, spreading all over Evil Ksitigarbha. Yang lightning was the bane of all demons, devils, and evil entities. This vast flood of lightning instantly disintegrated Evil Ksitigarbha's devilish qi.
Already wounded from his clash with the Demon God, Evil Ksitigarbha let out a howl of agony. "Aaaaahhhhh!!!"
Then he froze in midair, completely motionless.
This was the strategy that the Whale-Riding Immortal, Bai Yuxian, Jiang Yuebai, and Chu Liang had decided on as a family on the way to Mount Shu. It was Bai Yuxian's idea. She knew that the special nature of her enchanted artifact would work well with Chu Liang's Great Dao of Divine Clouds, so she came up with a few simple coordinated moves they could use.
Chu Liang knew that yang lightning restrained devilish qi, but he didn't believe, even for a second, that he could kill such a monstrous entity in one strike.
Seeing Evil Ksitigarbha motionless, Chu Liang's first instinct was to retreat immediately in case it was a ruse.
The atmosphere was thick with tension. The massive celestial devil floated lifelessly in the air, blocking out half of Mount Shu's peaks. His eyes were shut, and all his devilish qi had vanished. He looked like a corpse.
The Vessel of God was still hovering in midair. Instead of descending, the Whale-Riding Immortal kept his qi locked on Evil Ksitigarbha, not daring to lower his guard in the slightest.
Likewise, Bai Yuxian tightened her hold on the Thousand-Strand Immortal-Binding Net and kept her gaze focused on Evil Ksitigarbha.
After some time, Chu Liang was about to regroup with the others. However, he suddenly tensed in alarm.
Crap!
Behind him, a dark crimson figure emerged out of thin air. He bore the same appearance as Evil Ksitigarbha but existed only as an apparition. It was Evil Ksitigarbha's primordial spirit!
Evil Ksitigarbha's corporeal body was bound by the Thousand-Strand Immortal-Binding Net and flooded with yang lightning. In just a short time, he had been restrained and rendered paralyzed, making it nearly impossible for him to unleash his full power.
Yet, instead of relenting to his doomed fate, Evil Ksitigarbha abandoned his corporeal body and attacked as a primordial spirit!
It had been an incredibly difficult decision for him to make. After all, he had gone to great lengths to reclaim his corporeal body. Nonetheless, it was an extremely logical decision. His corporeal body had been restrained and rendered useless, but even without it, he could still kill off everyone except the Demon God. In that case, leaving his corporeal body was his fastest path to victory.
This just showed how much battle experience Evil Ksitigarbha had acquired over the countless years of his life.
Chu Liang suddenly felt like he was suffocating. A wave of powerful spiritual qi was forcing its way into his body, destroying everything in its wake.
Am I going to die?
As a primordial spirit, Evil Ksitigarbha had seized control of a ghost king on the brink of ascension. What chances did Chu Liang have of resisting his control?
Yet, the instant Evil Ksitigarbha entered Chu Liang's corporeal body, he sensed an incredibly powerful spiritual force inside, protecting Chu Liang's mind like an iron fortress. He slammed into it, got a giant lump on his head, and ricocheted out.
The spiritual force was a colossal white pagoda!
Chu Liang was feeling quite dizzy, and a buzz rang in his ears, but he was in control again. Evil Ksitigarbha had been forcefully ejected from Chu Liang's body.
Evil Ksitigarbha bellowed, "You little brat, how do you have that level of power in your body?!"
His plan had been simple—seize control of Chu Liang's body and use it to kill the remaining cultivators. It should have been an effortless victory. Yet, he had failed at the very first step.
Now, still in the form of a primordial spirit, Evil Ksitigarbha reached out and grabbed Chu Liang's neck. "Die!"
Feeling humiliated and enraged, Evil Ksitigarbha wanted to kill Chu Liang on the spot. Even without a corporeal body, he still possessed tremendous power and could easily kill Chu Liang.
However, he hadn't expected his action to enrage someone else.
"Big Bro Chu Liang!" someone yelled from beneath the sea of clouds.
It was Tuntun, who had been severely injured by Evil Ksitigarbha's devil fire.
After falling below, the searing pain from the devil made her realize just how grave the situation was. She was paralyzed by fear for a while. That big guy is super scary. How am I supposed to fight him??
The little lady had been trapped in a storm of helplessness and fear. Then she saw that Evil Ksitigarbha was about to kill Chu Liang.
In Tuntun's subconscious, Chu Liang was like her father. He had raised her from a larva to her current form. He had always been by her side, teaching her and caring for her.
Even if Evil Ksitigarbha destroyed the world, she might not have cared. But hurting Chu Liang was absolutely unacceptable.
Whoosh.
Ignoring her injuries, Tuntun transformed into a beam of golden light and shot through the air. With a single bite, she latched onto Evil Ksitigarbha and began to devour him with all her might!
Boom.
A powerful spiritual qi vortex surged up once more. As a primordial spirit, Evil Ksitigarbha no longer had his vast reserves of spiritual qi. How could he possibly withstand being devoured like this?
Nevertheless, he had learned how to counter it. With a furious roar, he summoned an endless wave of blood-stained qi, dyeing the vortex black and igniting it in devil fire.
The Demon God was like a ferocious tiger tearing into his flesh, but he had laced his blood with poison. If she kept devouring him, she would eventually die. The Demon God would have to let him go.
Yet, Tuntun didn't seem to care at all. She knew no other divine skills or techniques. All she had was this primal instinct to devour, so she kept on devouring him voraciously.
Even though the spiritual qi she consumed was laced with toxic blood-stained qi, she was no longer afraid. For the sake of Chu Liang's safety, she was determined to devour all of Evil Ksitigarbha's spiritual qi, right down to the last drop!
Devil fire blazed within and around her. Tuntun burned with searing pain, but still, she didn't let go.
Evil Ksitigarbha could no longer focus on anything else.
"Aaaargh!!!"
Screaming in agony, he released Chu Liang and put all his strength into fighting Tuntun.
How did this little thing suddenly erupt with such an intense will to fight?
Tuntun was putting everything she had into this battle.
In this situation, only one of us will survive. It's either me or her!
It would all come down to whether he could burn away her life essence first or whether she would drain all of his spiritual qi first.
Only one supreme being could exist in this world!
As both sides poured more and more spiritual qi into the clash, the surrounding sea of clouds dissipated, and nearby mountain ranges were nearly vaporized. No one else could interfere. Even the Whale-Riding Immortal and Bai Yuxian had to retreat. Despite their high cultivation levels, staying there any longer meant they would be scorched into ash.
Boom!
That night, the collision of devil fire and golden light above Mount Shu lit up the four seas and the nine provinces. Even those in the distant islands across the seas could see a brilliant ball of light rising into the sky. It was an enormous black-gold sun.
…
Far away in an oasis in the Northern Regions, the Noble Dharma had just finished a meditation session and regained some of his strength.
He stood up and looked toward the black-gold sun in the sky, his lips spreading into a confident smile.
"The current Demon God is the weakest Hallowed One in the river of time. You will win. I'm sure of it.
"Of course… if you die too, that would be perfect."
