Chapter 1002: Chapter 1002: Master Huo Calls, Racing on the Mountain Road Encountering a Puppet Blocking the Way

Ahui glanced back and saw Qin Ruan driving the top-of-the-line Rolls-Royce, slowly approaching.

He warned Yin Tianlin, "That chick is coming."

Hearing the word "chick," Yin Tianlin frowned displeasingly, "Watch your mouth!"

Ahui chuckled apologetically, "Alright, alright, do we let her win or not? Make up your mind quickly."

Yin Tianlin clenched the steering wheel tightly, grinding his molars, his cheeks tensing, "No, don’t let her!"

Chasing women was one thing, but racing without holding back was his bottom line; he absolutely couldn’t go easy on her.

Ahui gave him a thumbs-up, then stepped on the gas, making a deafening roar.

Qin Ruan parked her car behind Qin Mei’s.

Yin Tianlin poked his head out of the car window and, without meaning to, glanced at Qin Ruan in the car behind with the corner of his eyes before saying to the restless Qin Mei in the next car, "I’ve raced on this track before. How about whoever gets to the finish line first wins?"

"I have no problem with that," Qin Mei said coldly, his gaze chilling as he narrowed his eyes and furrowed his brows, "What were you just looking at?"

He had noticed that the kid kept sneaking glances at Qin Ruan, and the look in his eyes was indescribably annoying.

Yin Tianlin’s face was devoid of expression, his eyes dark and fierce, especially irritating as he said, "We’re racing; is your sister joining too, or are you just that cowardly?"

Qin Mei exploded, "Get lost!"

He flipped Yin Tianlin the bird, "My little sister is not easy to mess with either; you be careful you don’t even win against her."

In Qin Mei’s impression, Qin Ruan tended to be quite wild when driving, although he wasn’t too clear on her actual skill level.

But in his mind, his little sister could do no wrong, and his boastfulness didn’t make him feel the least bit guilty.

Yin Tianlin’s smile turned a shade more sinister, a different meaning shimmering in his smiling eyes.

Qin Mei didn’t particularly like him, always feeling that the man was up to something, and annoyed he said, "Stop the damn dawdling, are we racing or not?"

"Let’s race!"

Yin Tianlin tilted his head toward Ahui in a particularly cool manner.

The latter quickly got out of the car and walked to the middle of the racetrack, holding a small flag in his hand and standing in front of everyone with one hand in his pocket.

Qin Ruan glanced at Ahui and flipped out a tin box of chewing gum from inside the car; she took two pieces and threw them into her mouth to chew.

As Ahui’s flag went down, the cars driven by Yin Tianlin and Qin Mei had already shot off, and the mountain road was filled with a tremendous roar.

Qin Ruan’s attractive eyes moved slightly, her gaze involuntarily following the silhouette of the cars.

The phone on the passenger seat suddenly rang. She glanced at it and saw it was a call from Sanye.

A slight smile curved the corners of Qin Ruan’s mouth as her foot pressed on the gas pedal, and the car instantly flew forward—surprisingly faster than Qin Mei’s and Yin Tianlin’s cars.

Those left behind could only see a fleeting shadow speeding away, and if they blinked again, they’d hardly catch even a glimpse of it.

"Damn! That’s too fast!"

Ahui’s small flag shook vigorously, sensing that something was amiss.

Someone nearby, wearing a look of surprise, doubted his own senses, "Her car doesn’t seem to have the performance edge over Brother Lin’s or that top-spec Speedtail."

"Could it be modified?"

"Impossible."

Ahui suddenly cried out, "The drone! Quick! Follow with the drone!"

On the mountain road, bathed in dim yellow light, three luxury cars raced furiously, none of them far from the others in distance.

The ringing of the phone in Qin Ruan’s car continued, and after it automatically hung up, the ringtone started up again.

Her slender fingers gripping the high-end leather steering wheel pressed a button on the central control console, and rousing, dynamic music started to play, drowning out the ringtone.

Qin Ruan focused on the road ahead, her car’s speed was savage and she had no love for hesitance.

She was about to overtake Qin Mei and Yin Tianlin, who were driving side by side.

Knowing this was their home turf, Qin Ruan quickly eased off the gas, slowing down the car.

As the Rolls-Royce slowed down, the nose of the car lifted slightly. Qin Ruan, sitting in the driver’s seat, was shaken but quickly stabilized.

Both Qin Mei and Yin Tianlin saw Qin Ruan catching up from behind, but neither saw the swift and steady stunt she had just performed.

With the car’s BGM blazing away, Qin Ruan drove with ease, her body occasionally moving with the music, and a pleased, relaxed smile on her lips.

With the speed of the race, her mood was also well soothed, as if she was back to the days in West City when she ran rampant.

Though her past life was fraught with fear and trouble always knocking at her door, every time she dealt with it using her fists, achieving a physical and spiritual transcendence after each fight.

It had been a long time since she enjoyed such an adrenaline-pumping thrill, and the bloodlust buried in her bones started to stir with excitement.

The phone screen on the passenger seat was still lit up, its ringing masked by the blazing music in the car.

Approaching a curve in the road, Qin Ruan’s eyes were fixed on Qin Mei’s car body.

The performance of the top-tier McLaren Speedtail was indeed superb; Qin Mei managed a 90-degree angle turn, preventing Yin Tianlin from overtaking him from behind. Aside from the nose of the McLaren lifting slightly, he entered the turn at top speed with remarkable stability.

Yin Tianlin was about to overtake on the bend but was thwarted with a move, and the sound of car engines filled the entire mountain road.

Qin Ruan lingered behind in no hurry, watching the tense atmosphere between the two cars.

As she too entered the bend, she heard the sharp sounds of brakes, and then she saw both Qin Mei and Yin Tianlin’s cars coming to a halt.

Perhaps they had parked too hastily; the two cars were not far apart, with Yin Tianlin’s vehicle drifting to a stop in the middle of the road to avoid a collision, leaving behind clearly visible tire marks on the ground.

Qin Ruan furrowed her brows and stopped her car, and as soon as she lowered the window, she heard Qin Mei’s heart-wrenching screams.

"Ahh ahh ahh...there’s a Puppet! A Puppet!!!"

The screams echoed through the mountain road, overpowering the music playing in the car, piercing painfully into the eardrums.

Qin Ruan turned off the music and pushed open the car door to get out.

At the same time, Yin Tianlin also got out of his car, his face looking awful, as he gritted his teeth and glared angrily at the rear of Qin Mei’s car.

He had narrowly avoided crashing into the Maclaren, on a stretch of road too narrow for comfort; a collision could have easily resulted in a rollover.

Qin Ruan jogged past Yin Tianlin and rushed to the front of Qin Mei’s car, where the first thing she saw was the familiar Puppet floating in the middle of the road.

She glanced coldly at it, then yanked open the car door to pull Qin Mei out.

Qin Mei, looking at her as if she were a savior, clutched Qin Ruan’s hands tightly, his handsome face deathly pale.

"Little sister, there’s a Puppet! A Puppet, ahh ahh ahh!!!"

Qin Ruan took his face in her hands, turned her head to look at Liao Yu floating in the middle of the road and said, "Second brother, look, that’s Sister Liao Yu, stop wailing."

"Sister Liao Yu?" Qin Mei blinked, staring at the blood-covered Puppet enveloped in dense black Evil Qi, showing a gruesome face. After staring for a while, he finally recognized her.

Seeing a familiar person, Qin Mei’s trembling body calmed down, leaning limp against the car for support.

He wiped the sweat from his forehead, still shaken, and said, "That scared me to death!"

Yin Tianlin couldn’t see Liao Yu, finding Qin Ruan’s and Qin Mei’s behavior bizarre.

Qin Ruan let go of Qin Mei and walked toward Liao Yu.

Behind Liao Yu followed two Underworld Envoys, who used the Soul-locking Chain to shackle Qi Ling’s limbs. Qi Ling’s skin had been cleanly removed, leaving his flesh a blurred mess, unrecognizable without identifying the soul.

The two Underworld Envoys, shrouded in Evil Qi and with ghastly pale faces, saw Qin Ruan and respectfully bowed to her.

Qin Ruan, standing in the tranquil mountain road, stood out like a crane among chickens, radiating an effortlessly languid aura.

Her thin lips parted, her voice cool, "Sister Liao Yu?"

Liao Yu bowed to her and expressed thanks, "Miss Qin, I am leaving, thank you for your help today."

A faint smile flashed in Qin Ruan’s opulent fox-like eyes, her deliberately lowered voice raspy, "It was nothing, I hardly did anything."

Liao Yu stood upright, her face filled with boundless gratitude, "If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have been able to take my revenge. If there’s a chance in the future, I’ll repay your great kindness."

Qin Ruan, one hand in her pocket, clicked her tongue, "An unnecessary gesture, just follow the Envoys, serve your sentence in Hell well, and strive for an early reincarnation."

"Yes—"

Liao Yu’s face showed a faint smile, her expression one of relief.

Yin Tianlin walked up to Qin Mei, nudged him with his elbow, puzzled, "Who is your sister talking to?"

Qin Mei’s lips curled up in a mischievous smile, mouthing, "The Puppet."

Yin Tianlin: "..."

His lips twitched, clearly skeptical.

Seeing the look on Yin Tianlin’s face, which reminded him of his former self, Qin Mei turned around, picked up Xueqiu who was lying on the passenger seat, and tossed her straight into Yin Tianlin’s arms.

Caught off guard by the unexpected throw, Yin Tianlin instinctively caught it.

Xueqiu, afraid of being dropped, clawed onto his shirt to prevent falling.

Contact between man and cat made, Qin Mei inclined his chin towards where Liao Yu was and said to Yin Tianlin, "Look over there again, can you see a figure now?"

Yin Tianlin obediently turned his head, looking in Qin Ruan’s direction.

Across from Qin Ruan, there were three dark, human-shaped shadows.

Yin Tianlin’s hands trembled, and he tossed Xueqiu away, his subconscious telling him that there was something sinister about this cat.

Before, when he had looked across from Qin Ruan, he had seen nothing, but after holding the cat, inexplicable things had appeared.

"Meow!"

Thrown out, Xueqiu landed gracefully on all fours, letting out an aggrieved meow.

What had it done to deserve being thrown around so much in one day?

Hearing Xueqiu’s pitiful cries, Qin Mei too felt sorry for the cat.

He stepped forward to scoop it into his arms and soothed it, "Xueqiu, it’s okay, don’t be sad. When we go home, I’ll give you something nice to eat. You can pick whatever you want from the cabinet, eat as much as you like."

"Meow meow!" Xueqiu shook its ears, looking very satisfied.

Yin Tianlin stared blankly as Qin Mei spoke to the cat, then glanced back at Qin Ruan, his eyes brimming with shock and fear.

He saw not only a cat nodding to Qin Mei but also the three shadowy figures across from Qin Ruan.

The cold wind blowing was chilling to the bone, causing Yin Tianlin to shiver and unconsciously shrink further into his clothes.

As Qin Ruan continued to communicate with those shadows, his eyes widened like bells, his face turned deathly white, and his body wouldn’t stop trembling, instinctively shrinking back into his clothing.

Things had gotten freakishly strange. Someone tell him what on Earth was happening.
