Chapter 461: Chapter 28 Unique Tenderness_1

"Mr. Pannis." A voice came from outside the window, Maggie shouted from the deck, "The bridge ladder seems to be a bit sensitive, wait a moment, the captain has already sent someone to check it."

Boom, boom. Two consecutive sounds, Pannis shouted from beneath the ship, "No need, look, I’ve fixed it, you guys should be paying me the repair fees."

"It was clearly you who broke it." Little Maggie’s voice sounded peeved, she complained, "You always do this, our workloads have to increase again. Really, can’t you stop adding to our burden already?"

"Little Maggie, you’re breaking my heart, I’m clearly helping." Pannis’s voice was filled with a cheeky tone, almost tangible, "How about you join me for a cup of tea, and we chat about life, then I won’t add to your workload anymore? Hey, don’t throw things from high above, it’s dangerous, could kill someone."

"Puh-leeze." Maggie sounded like she was pulling a face, she cooed, "Dream on. Ignoring you, I’ve got work to do."

"She’s really not cute at all." Just beneath the window, Pannis grumbled as he stepped onto the boarding ladder.

"Huh." Freya leaned against the window frame, looking somewhat worried at the silent girls. She could understand their complicated feelings, but from her perspective, she had no right to comfort or persuade them about anything. They had an internal struggle they had to resolve themselves, no one else could help.

The creatures known as demi-gods hold extremely special status in the human world of the Third and Fourth Epoch of Yarran World. Exactly as Lina described, to humans, demi-gods are often considered as elusive as deities, and many never get the chance to meet one in their lifetime. Catherine and the other two were relatively fortunate, thanks to their activities in the Adventurer’s Guild and the Mage’s Guild, they occasionally interacted with the two demi-god chairmen, Odin and Antuin, and had some immunity to the status of demi-gods. However, for other ordinary lower rank professionals, if they knew Pannis was a demi-god, they would’ve fainted from excitement.

But for Catherine and the others, that was it. Their current reaction was expected. After all, they aren’t like Freya, sick and tired of dealing with demi-gods, they can’t stay calm around Pannis just yet, which is totally acceptable. Given more time, they should be able to return to their usual demeanor.

"Delaying time isn’t so bad." Freya lifted her head to look at the painted light blue roof. Her profile was bathed in the sunlight streaming through the window, and turned golden. She held the teacup to her chest and softly said, "Time often has unimaginable power. It can transform sadness and melancholy into happiness and relief. It can also allow past restraints to evolve into present cares, with time ..."

"Freya, I’m really too tired to go over and knock you out. Could you do me a favor?" Vivian sat on a bench, her gaze dull, "Trouble yourself, find a spot to bang your head hard and then shut up, how about that?"

"Hehe." Freya giggled, softly said: "I just wanted to say that you don’t have to worry so much. If he really cherishes the bond between you, he wouldn’t fail to give you enough time. If he really cares about you as much as you say, how could he bear to see you upset, and then part ways with you in the end? In other words, if he quickly leaves the house for such matters, it means you don’t occupy an important place in his heart, and are just a plain existence more familiar than a stranger. So, why would you worry for such a person?"

"You do have a point." Hope rose in Catherine’s eyes, biting her lip, she said, "Maybe we’re overthinking this, perhaps things aren’t that bad."

"Exactly, I think so too." Freya nodded, "Maybe he’s troubled too, actively trying to help you guys adjust your attitude and get back to your normal lives."

"Ha, I hope it’s like you said." Catherine sighed quietly and looked at the door of the room, "Judging by the time, he should’ve arrived."

"Creak," the slightly deformed door was opened again, it made a strange noise. Pannis walked in, slapping his damp clothes, bringing with him the unique smell of seawater. As soon as he entered, as if he hadn’t noticed the heavy atmosphere in the room, he showed the girls a bright smile, waved, and said, "Yo, I’m back."

The silly greeting made Catherine’s mouth twitch, she forced a smile on her face and stood up to meet him, "You’re back, did you get in touch with the Sea Race smoothly?"

"Of course, how could my plans go awry?" Mr. Pannis emphatically flicked the water off his clothing and entered the living room: "I have already received their reply. They will arrive here by evening. We can have them relay the message then."

"That’s good." Catherine’s attention was not on the Sea Race. After standing up, she walked half a circle around the long coffee table and approached Mr. Pannis, saying, "It’s perfect that you just arrived. There are some things that I must talk with you about ahead of time. These things concern the future of this household. I hope you’ll listen."

"What’s up, that sounds so formal, of course, I ... Ah!" As Catherine and Mr. Pannis were about to meet alongside the coffee table, Mr. Pannis’s foot suddenly tripped over the edge of the carpet. Under the effect of inertia and gravity, he fell forward straight. Catherine, who was coming towards Mr. Pannis, was right in front of him. Because all her attention was focused on the upcoming conversation, she did not react in time and was directly knocked down by Mr. Pannis. Their position as they fell was between the long bench and Lina, and the motion startled Lina as well.

So, with a bang, the catastrophe occurred, leaving a pitiable scene in the cabin after the shaking of the deck ceased.

Catherine fell face up on the ground, her mouth wide open in surprise, appearing baffled. Mr. Pannis lay atop Catherine, his face buried right in the center of Catherine’s chest. During his fall, Mr. Pannis’ left hand reached outwards, trying to grab onto something. As he landed, his hand landed right on Lina’s chest as she reclined on the carpet. His fingers deeply sank, leaving wrinkles in her clothing.

The air paused. Vivian and Freya’s eyes widened in shock, speechless at the dramatic scene that unfolded.

"Dear Mr. Pannis." Lina sat up, looking at the hand firmly clasped to her chest as if she was confused by what was happening. Her face was changing colors like a rainbow, eventually settling on a vivid red. Her pretty, pale face was tense and her new moon-shaped scar was quivering with her eyebrows. Underneath her flushed face, it even seemed as if her silver hair was turning red due to the rush of blood. Taking a deep breath, Lina looked at the hand that was still gripping her chest. Her voice was like the wind of death blowing from the Perpetual Icefield, chilling to the bone: "May I ask, what you are doing? Could you please provide a simple explanation?"

"Mis-mis-mis-mis-mis-understanding, it’s a misunderstanding," Mr. Pannis abruptly sat up. As he rose, his hands unintentionally pushed off Lina, causing her eyes to twitch. Mr. Pannis, sitting up and breaking out into cold sweat, scurried a few steps backward using his hands and feet. He waved his hands frantically, saying, "Let me explain, let me explain, it was an accident, really it was just an accident."

"Oh ho ho ho, I know, it was an accident. Life is always full of various accidents, I understand." Catherine dropped her glance to the bite marks on the front of her dress. The flush on her face had spread to her eyes, both appearing red. The blood vessels on her forehead were visibly throbbing. Her hand rested on the handle of her thin sword. Despite everything, her voice was full of tenderness - the kind of tenderness before an execution. "Don’t worry, I’ll listen to your explanation. At the very least, I will listen to it in front of your tombstone."

"No, no, no, I don’t want a tombstone," Mr. Pannis was babbling. His face filled with fear, he said, "I really didn’t do it on purpose, it was the carpet. The carpet is the real culprit!"

"Hehehehe." The two victims stiffly rose from the ground. Lina clenched her fist and Catherine drew her thin sword. The pair of girls, with serene smiles on their faces, inch by inch approached Mr. Pannis who was retreating: "That’s right, we know, the carpet is the real culprit."

"Help, save me, they are terrifying. Both of them are terrifying." Mr. Pannis clambered to the other side of the living room, "Murderers, save me!"

Both girls bit down on their teeth, suddenly darted forward like two infuriated armored bulls. Each holding their fists and thin sword, and with their red eyes, chased Mr. Pannis. For a moment, the room resembled a murder scene filled with Mr. Pannis’ desperate screams and the distraught laughter of the two girls. Vivian and Freya exchanged glances. Vivian suddenly cocked her head, a smile blooming across her face. She bit her fingertip in thought, suddenly clapped her palms together and cheered loudly. Waving her magic staff, she naturally joined the chase.

"Hmm, it seems there’s more than just time, other more effective methods too. But Mr. Pannis’ gentle manner is still unique, hehehe." Freya leaned against the window, sipped her tea once again, and looked at the white clouds in the sky. She murmured to herself, "Perhaps the feelings between most people change as easily as clouds being moved by the wind. But I think there will always be some people whose feelings are more like the sky beneath the clouds. Clouds may temporarily obscure it, but it will never change. The weather is so nice today, hmm, and the tea is excellent too."

Polishing off the remaining tea in one go, Freya carelessly let the teacup slide from her hands. She leaned on her elbow and her chubby face revealed a gentle smile. After a small cough, she quietly drew a crystal spear and silently joined the girls’ lineup. All the while, still loudly shouting slogans like, "Mr. Pannis, I love you!"

So, the brutal scene continued in the cabin, showing no sign of stopping. (To be continued. If you like this work, please come to qidian.com to vote for it. Your support is my biggest motivation. Mobile users can read at m.qidian.com).
