Chapter 1519: 305

"Are you saying that Danacus has never slumbered?" Flare hesitated, "But that seems unlikely, to remodel a mortal’s body into a Divine Body, especially one that is damaged in the eyes, and for him not to need slumber at all, his power must be terrifying, beyond even what a supreme Deity like Lady Goddess can achieve. And whether he’s slumbered or not, wouldn’t Nellie know? After all, Danacus is within her body. Even if she truly didn’t know, other deities would sense it; if Danacus were not asleep, they would surely hint at it to you."

"No, I did not say that," Pannis replied with an unusual tone, his face looking intriguingly serious and devoid of his usual laziness, the anger usually unseen in his voice veiled as his finger pointed at Flare, then turned to Lina and Vivian, he said with a meaningful smile, "It’s lively here today—I’m seeing for the first time, in such a small space, that there can be so many gazes gathered. Are you preparing to convene a meeting here? Heh, I know you’re watching, Lady Forest, Lady Huntress, you too, Lady Earth, and you, Lord of Wisdom, not to mention all the other known and unknown, visible and invisible deities, I can sense all of your observations here. Didn’t expect everyone to be so leisurely today, but this is good— all of you representatives of different divine systems have more authority than us to speak; if it were you, could you achieve what I’ve described?"

"Pannis," Catherine said with a change in her complexion, lowering her voice, "This is really..."

"It’s okay, don’t worry," knowing the knight maiden had not experienced such a situation before, Pannis patted her hand, which was pressing on his wound, with a reassuring smile, "Everyone is just more interested in what’s happening here and sparing some of their energies to observe, it’s very common, you’ll get used to it, no need to be so nervous, just relax like I do."

"Very common... Ha, ha, ha," Catherine let out a standard Pannis-style dry laugh, and despite his reassurances, she felt rather incredulous, rolling her eyes, "I don’t find this common at all, nor do I think you’re relaxed in any way, though, of course, if you consider being angry as relaxing, then I must admit you have a point."

"Angry? Haha, I am not," Pannis scoffed, "With so many deities watching, how could I possibly be angry? What right do I have to be angry?"

"Pannis." Even though she knew it was ineffective, Catherine still hesitated and looked around quietly, whispering, "You still should..."

"I know, I know, be more respectful, right? Don’t worry, this level of disrespect is something they’d hardly bother about," Pannis shrugged nonchalantly. He was well aware of the knight maid’s good intentions and worry that his attitude might anger the deities, but to save the ears of everyone, including those of the observing deities, he stopped the forthcoming nagging from Catherine, but waved his hand and consequently winced from his wound, "Besides, they have tens or hundreds of thousands of years more experience than you, so they see much clearer; they know I’m just angry with myself, so my attitude seems a bit harsh. They won’t mind that."

"You’re angry with yourself?" Catherine blinked, choosing to believe Pannis’s explanation but quickly found a new question, "Why is that? Umm, is it because you said earlier that we all got tricked?"

"Yes, tricked," Pannis said through clenched teeth bitterly, "Being tricked isn’t what’s scary; nobody can ensure they’ve never been fooled before, but, I’m such an idiot, no, worse than an idiot, such an obvious doubt was right there, and I only saw it at the end. And that’s not even the most outrageous part; even now, I can’t be sure if I’ve really been tricked or if Danacus is using my suspicion to make me think so. Lord Yarra above, this is unforgivably foolish."

"Okay, okay, foolish, I admit you’re foolish; just calm down, my Divine Spell is about to fail," Lina said while frantically patting Pannis, who was gesturing wildly with his fists, "Lady Denia has responded, you’re right, she indeed can retain a trace of consciousness while in slumber, but what extent of things this trace of consciousness can do, she has never slept so she could not provide a precise answer. Moreover, Lady Denia asked me to tell you, she heard everything you just said; on the surface, you were calling yourself an idiot and berating your own stupidity, but actually, you were clearly implicating them, those concerned deities, as being just as idiotic, a bunch of fools, hmm, so she has noted this down for you. She’s not bothering with it now, there’s plenty of time ahead, and she will settle this with you slowly."

"Um, but I don’t know what to do," Vivian frowned, annoyed, "You say Lord Weston of Wisdom is watching from behind me? But I don’t know how to contact him."

"Nobody asked you to contact him, dummy," Freya grabbed the Mage maiden’s collar and dragged her aside, "Your alchemist brains must be burnt by potions; Pannis only said that Lord Weston is watching, he didn’t ask us to handle the communication. Do you think you’re a blind nun or something?"

"Empty-headed Colossus, you shut up." As visible, the School War between mages often erupts like this.

"Lady Goddess responded the same," Flare opened her eyes, interrupting her psychic communication with Yuktiraxil, her green pupils fixed on Pannis, gently saying, "It’s just that doing so severely impacts the recovery of power, so it’s generally not considered unless one simply wants to achieve this. Also, Lady Goddess said that as an idiot and a fool, when there’s a chance in the future, she will personally visit you herself, hmm, that will be a pleasant interaction."
