Chapter 385: § TERRIBLE COOK §

Chapter 132

Kraig was left in space with Yanarym. Her body was transported into running holy water, in the spring mountain and he was assigned as the guardian since both Lyndon and Matteo were left to search for Tiana. Though he still couldn’t believe that Tiana was the root of all of this.

He looked at Yanarym and every hour a black spot would appear on any part of her body. Matteo gave her a white dress that was so thin that they could easily see if a quoko would be there so that they could rub it off... and despite seeing her almost naked body all for himself, he was not glad.

Sometimes she would start to scream and wail, and it would break his heart each time he had held her and suppressed her from trembling and hushed her from crying.

Every time he would brush the black spot off from her body, he could feel his hands scourging just by grazing that dark parasite. He wondered if that was how she was feeling if that quoko would appear on her skin.

Presently, she was laying her back on his body while Kraig was embracing her from behind, they were under the mini-fall and the warm, sacred water was continuously showering their bodies.

Kraig was half-naked so that if some quoko would emerge at her back he could feel it and would immediately disseminate it. He didn’t even care if that quoko would just transfer to him. He would be glad to take away her pain.

"When will you wake up?" He whispered to her ears and brushed her hair through his fingers. "I miss you so much, I miss your smile, I miss your eyes, I miss your voice, Rym, I miss you a lot, isn’t that funny?"

"You’re just here, in my arms but still, I miss you like crazy —I love watching you sleep but aren’t you sleeping so much?" Kraig talked to her while playing with her hands. She lost too much weight, she was already thin but she still could lose weight. Kraig bit his lips and nuzzled her hands, so thin... she was small before and she was smaller now.

A tear escaped to his eyes and he immediately buried his face to her shoulder and did his best not to cry, but he just couldn’t hold it. It was too painful to see her in this state, it was like he was losing her---like she was vanishing right in front of his eyes---fading slowly from his grasp.

"Kraig, look, I tried making pancakes! See? Come and taste it!" It was Saturday, he just finished his business off the town and talked with the traders that would come to the town next month.

He successfully persuaded them to increase their expenditure of trades to the market, and that would certainly cause chaos, the Mayor would probably have his headache, or at worst get a stroke and die.

Kraig smiled sinisterly as he imagined Lyndon aggravating if his father would die in vain. "Hey! I said try my pancakes!" Yanarym screamed at him then pouted her lips. "Smiling like a creep- and ignoring me?! Okay, fine!"

He laughed at her and walked in her direction before grabbing her waist and lifting her to the table. "I told you I might not get home until tomorrow, why are you here?" He asked her while wiping the flour that was in her cheeks. "You’re making a disaster in my kitchen, do you plan on burning my house?" He asked again, seeing that she was still in a tantrum and had no plan to answer him, he tilted his head and locked eyes with her. Beautiful, he would never get tired of her face.

She blushed as he smiled, she bit her lips before looking away. Kraig laughed again and cupped her face to direct it on him. "Love, stop being mad, you’re turning me on." He whispered to her lips and quickly kissed her nose. Her cheeks turned redder but she was still insisting on looking away. "Love, I’m just kidding, don’t be mad." He created a gap between them and looked around.

Kraig saw the plate of piled-up pancakes on the table and took a piece of it, and ate it with no hesitation. She turned to him, losing the frown on her lips, obviously delighted that he finally took a bite with her cooking.

Kraig smiled at her and swallowed the pancake without chewing it too much, it was so salty! Did she mistakenly put salt instead of sugar? Again?! Kraig had an internal conflict yet his expression showed otherwise. "It tasted very good." He told her and kissed her cheeks before putting her down off the table. She wrapped her arms around his neck that was why when her feet landed on the ground he had no choice but to slouch.

"Really? You liked it?" They locked eyes again and she blinked at him gorgeously. Kraig smiled and nodded his head.

"You’re not lying?" She asked again. He shook his head and tried to remove her arms off his neck so that he could drink water already. His throat felt dry from too much saltiness.

"Would you rather lie to me than hurt my feelings?" She suddenly asked him---that made him halt from taking her hands off of him. Her tone was serious and her eyes were solemn. "Is it bad to keep the truth that would hurt the person you cherished?" She added as her arms slipped away from holding him, unconsciously, Kraig hastily held her.

For a moment, he felt terrified by her simple move. It was like she was letting him go—

"What’s wrong? Why are you sad again? I told you it was good." He prodded her and deliberately coiled her arms to his torso. She tightened the embrace, and that somehow made him relieved.

"Answer me, Kraig," she said and looked up to him. "Which one do you prefer? Sugar-coated lie or the bitter truth?" Kraig didn’t know if the salt caused him to be unable to speak or her eyes that were staring at him with an icy gaze.

And the situation was all because he didn’t tell her she was a terrible cook.

"It was good, believe me." He said problematically and she pressed her lips into a thin line.

"Okay, alright, let me taste it." She said and removed her arms to his torso and walked to the table. She was about to reach out for the pancake but Kraig was quick enough to steal it and gobbled it all to his mouth.

"Ihs fayhn (it’s fine)," he said, Yanarym narrowed her eyes on him and he had to drink a glass of water to swallow it all. "It’s fine, see? I ate it all." He said to her again and coughed. "Done, finished, nothing is left. Delicious."

’Salty!’ He coughed continuously and Yanarym had to give him another glass of water while rubbing his back to soothe him. "I choked on water," he exclaimed, obviously it was a lie, so he had to make her think of something else. "Anyway, since you are here, should we go on a date to the cafe? They served mango flavored shaved ice."

"I’m not in the mood." She said dryly.

"You’re not in the mood to eat? That’s new." Kraig teased and she did not even smile. "Rym?" She didn’t reply and left him in the kitchen.

Kraig’s eyebrows creased and immediately followed her, what was wrong? Did he not soothe her already? He ate those horrendous pancakes and she was still not happy?

"Rym, if you are mad about something tell me." He followed her and grabbed her arm and made her turn to face him. "Don’t ask me with your riddles and treat me coldly. You know, I hate it when you puzzle me." He said in a grim tone and she looked away, sulking as her lips pouted and eyes became misty.

’Oh, great, now she would cry.’ Kraig mumbled his mind and sighed deeply. ’Why did she have to become such a drama queen?’

Why did he keep on spoiling her so much, anyway? He should be angry that she was being handy yet... he liked it when she made trouble for him... he oddly liked it.

"Rym, do you want us to fight? Do you want me to get angry at you for being unreasonable? Should we scream at each other until you are satisfied?" She shook her head, "Why are you being like this?"

"Because you lied." She mumbled and covered her face with her free hand and cried on her palm. "You are lying, y-you lied." She sobbed and cried louder. "You rather sugar coat the lies than tell me the truth!"

Kraig panicked, he kept a lot of secrets from her. What kind of lie did she find out about him? If he didn’t know he could not make an excuse.
