Chapter 384: § MAKE IT UP TO YOU §
Chapter 131
The Father God who was in between his two children was having a hard time. He could understand where Matteo was coming from but he could not dismiss Azkin’s feelings either.
"She chose you over your nineteen brothers, you should be glad, Teo. You are her most favorite, she likes you a lot. She loves you."
"Father, I told you not to create her with a humane heart, and look where it got us. Love of humans was nothing but complication. Azkin became nothing but trouble in heaven, all she does is play and disturb her brothers’ duties. She shouldn’t have existed at all, you shouldn’t have created a menace. If ---"
"Are you lecturing me, Matteo?!"
"Father, I’m not, I am only telling you her mistakes, and you sh---"
"QUITE!" Matteo was silenced, he saw Azkin running out of the hall, weeping. They both watched her leave and their father sighed deeply. "Look what have you done! Azkin is a fragile girl, why can’t you marry her anyway, what is there not to like?"
Matteo pressed his lips gawking at the door Azkin ran out and sighed. Seeing that Matteo had no intention to answer him, God asked again, "I thought you like her too, although you can’t love, I know you like her a lot... am I wrong? Do you hate her?"
"Of course, I don’t hate her father. She’s my only sister. However ... "
"However, what?"
"You know that I am going around Xleyl a lot of times. And I encountered countless humans on my journey. I’ve seen what love does, and I am not ready to receive Azkin’s heart. I just want to serve you and do my duty as the first son. I don’t want to become her husband."
A few months later, Azkin was still depressed, and that sadness was contaminating everyone in heaven. They were not used to seeing her crying and locking herself in the chamber. That was why Matteo was persuaded to discuss with her. They had a one on one conversation but she wasn’t paying attention to him at all.
"Azkin, stop acting like a child." He scolded her and she turned her head on him.
Looking at him with teary eyes, "Do you know my pain? This is all because of you!" She screams at him and throws a pillow in his direction. "YOU KEEP BREAKING MY HEART! I DON’T WANT TO SEE YOU!"
"AZKIN!" He screamed back at her and she sobbed, she bit her lips inwards and started to hiccup.
Matteo sough, his heart, he didn’t know why but his heart was telling him to stop tormenting her. But he didn’t listen, he kept his stance and firmly looked back at her eyes.
"If you wanted to love someone, go to Xleyl and find a man, a human. At least that person would have the heart to love you back." He said coldly that making Azkin froze at her spot. "I already asked father and he approved it. You can descend tomorrow and stay on Xleyl as long as you want. And you can only come back here when you forget your feelings for me."
"No. No! I don’t want that! No!" Azkin got off her bed and shook her head vigorously, she ran her way to him and embraced his body tightly. "Why?! Why do I have to go down and find a human?! You are here! You’re all I need! You’re all I want! You’re the one I love! Brother... Please stop hurting me like this, if you can’t love me, I can understand, why do you have to send me away too?!" She cried loudly burying her face to his chest.
"Please stop pushing me away, I won’t insist on marrying you. I will stay quiet and help you with your duty. I won’t do this anymore, I will stop, I will listen to you. Brother! Please take it back, please... "
Matteo was a stone, he didn’t listen to her plead or to his imploring heart. He forcefully shoved her away and left her crying in her room.
"This is so unfair! I did not wish to love you! Why are you hurting me this much?!" She groveled on her pillow, "Y-you are so heartless, Teo."
Their other brothers came to her room that night to console her, although they didn’t want her to send on Xleyl, their Father already made up his mind to do it. Even Azkin who tried her best to convince their father to take back his decree was deaf to her cries.
She was sent to Xleyl, without saying goodbye to Matteo. With her gone in heaven---it was never the same---Matteo who initiated the situation to unfold. He felt empty without Azkin, still, he was a stone... he never listened to his heart.
After decades had passed, Azkin had not returned to heaven. They assumed that she found her love there, and human life was short, so they thought they would wait a little longer for her to come back.
Another decade passed, and another decade, she never did ascend back to them, almost a century passed. But there was still no Azkin’s re-appearance. They were starting to get worried.
God and the other brothers would always seek her whereabouts. Matteo thought that if they sent her to Xleyl just to monitor her, it would become futile for her to live independently. She would not be able to fall in love with someone else if they would interfere with her life. For that not to happen, he told their father that they should not track her every move or get any traces of her location.
That was why they couldn’t hear a single piece of news from her, and they couldn’t find her either. The only way to see her was to look for her, and Matteo volunteered to do it... with that, the rest was history.
He reprimanded himself for things that happened to Azkin, he was indicted by his brothers too. To make up for the wrong deeds he had done to Azkin, he pledged to ascend her in heaven. And if she still wanted him as her husband, he was willing to comply with her wishes.
Back then, Matteo was purely afraid to receive her heart because he was worried to hurt her. In the end, that was still the result of his decisions.
Worse, he drove her to death, and she was a goddess! She wasn’t supposed to die, she wasn’t supposed to suffer from everything she had gone through. He wanted to make it up to her...
And here they were now, Azkin’s reincarnation was at his very eyes. Tiana wanted retribution and vengeance. She wanted to kill the reincarnation of the man who broke her heart from the past along with the woman she detest.
That woman who Tiana hated was Yanarym, Matteo’s current love.
That was right, a God himself wasn’t supposed to fall in love. He did not have the ability to love. He was not like Azkin. But he did, he loves Yanarym. He didn’t know why or how but he did. He looked at Tiana and held her shoulders.
"Azkin," Tiana shifted her eyes from Lyndon to him.
"Ma-Marcus--- I mean Matteo, Brother? Will you help me? Will you kill them?!" She asked with her misty and disheveled appearance. Matteo peered at her with solemn eyes. "I know you will do- ... ah." Before she could even utter another word, her chest was pierced by a sharp blade. She looked at it with puzzlement and redirected her eyes to Matteo.
’Why?’ Was her eyes asking him.
"I never listened to my heart before, and it led you to this. I will not make the same mistake Azkin." He whispered and impaled the knife deeper.
Tiana’s tears started to roll from her eyes again as she looked at him in disbelief. "Let’s meet in heaven, I will make it up to you." He told her before twisting the knife out of her.
He caught her falling body and laid it on the ground. "Don’t look at me like that, you should know that I would never give in to you if you are wrong. I have debts, and I will pay them all back. I will follow you in heaven, I will talk to our father and we will fix everything, alright?" Tiana shook her head, she didn’t want this at all! This was not what was supposed to happen!
"W-wh-why?... " Tiana cried but she couldn’t scream, she coughed blood and felt she was about to die. With that her life flashes before her eyes. "... Mia." As she whispered her final breath, Matteo guided her eyes to close and stood up.
"Let’s go back." He said to Lyndon that was zoning out. Matteo tapped his shoulder and that woke Lyndon from being dumbfounded.
"W-we....we will leave her here?" He stuttered. "S-she’s your sister, isn’t she? Won’t you bury her at least?"
"No need to do that, her body would be consumed by quoko for the next hour." Lyndon’s face became distorted seeing how casual Matteo was, he killed his sister!
He killed Azkin! He wasn’t even mourning for her! Matteo did not even bat an eye after stabbing Tiana. Lyndon didn’t know how heaven’s family functions but was not this too cruel?
He looked at Tiana’s corpse and saw a white orb floating out from her body... was that Azkin’s soul? Lyndon was about to ask Matteo but he was already gone. That God really did know to wait!
