Chapter 533: Chapter 151: Open Your Heart

Li Yu stepped outside and found a guard of the Arias family on duty, who promptly saluted him respectfully on seeing him.

"Prophet Merlin, you’ve arrived."

"Yes, how has the duel been progressing? What happened in these two days I was absent?"

The guard immediately recounted the events of the past few days to Li Yu in detail.

On hearing that the Lady had survived death twice and ultimately completed a stunning turnaround by defeating the Earth Bear, Li Yu was also somewhat moved and asked, "Did Ireya sustain any injuries?"

At this, the guard suddenly became hesitant, "Lady Ireya did indeed sustain injuries, but she has forbidden anyone from revealing her condition, especially to you."

Li Yu raised his eyebrows, not surprised that Ireya would choose to hide her injuries, considering Miss Rabbit had another duel coming up. It made sense to prevent anyone from exploiting her weakness.

However, it struck him as strange that she would keep it from him as well, especially since the young lady always looked forward to his visits. This time, she did the opposite, not meeting him immediately and instead hiding in her bed, reluctant to even show her face.

Li Yu considered a possibility. He did not trouble the guard further, simply stating, "I understand."

As he was about to leave, the sound of hammering suddenly came from behind. The guard said, "It’s Watt, the Servant. He returned today and has been hammering away there ever since."

Following the sound of the hammering, Li Yu found Ge Lipeng in the inn’s backyard, who, seemingly unaware of Li Yu’s presence, continued to focus intensely on his task.

Li Yu did not disturb him and stood watching for a while. He observed Ge Lipeng attaching an infrared sight to a gun. He had already fitted three, with only the last, a Flintlock Axe, left. It took him another quarter of an hour to finish the installation and calibrate it.

Once he was done, Li Yu asked, "Why, is the opponent very fast tomorrow?"

Only then did Ge Lipeng notice Li Yu. He grunted affirmatively, "That man is quite agile. I’ve watched his battle. His moves are light, but faster than the old knight, so aside from the scope, I have also prepared a new gadget."

While speaking, Ge Lipeng retrieved another wooden box from beside the furnace and opened it to reveal yet another gun.

Only, this barrel was three to four times thicker than a regular Flintlock Pistol.

"You gave me a seamless steel tube, and one of them was notably larger than the others, so I made this device," he explained.

Li Yu took the new gun and examined it, "Is this... a shotgun?"

"Correctly speaking, it’s the progenitor of the shotgun—the rocket tube," Ge Lipeng replied. "The rocket tube first appeared in the eighteenth century, initially equipped for knights.

"Because it’s convenient to carry, and the barrel is wide enough and trumpet-shaped making it easy to load bullets and gunpowder, cavalry equipped with rocket tubes were also called Dragon Cavaliers at that time.

"Moreover, a rocket tube can fire several bullets at once, its killing radius far exceeding that of a regular Flintlock Gun, and it doesn’t even need much aiming. Later, it also gained popularity among navies, pirates, and privateers.

"In other words, as long as the distance is close, even with a quick opponent, they cannot escape. It’s perfect for dealing with such agile enemies. However, making the trumpet mouth was harder than I anticipated.

"I had to adjust several plans to get the current result."

Li Yu nodded, "You’ve worked hard. Tomorrow, I will hand this weapon to Ireya."

"Thanks to you for this competition, once we return to Green Field, I will give you a brick house along with a reward of one thousand Divine Country points. If there is anything else you desire, feel free to tell me,"

"Then I will not be polite," Ge Lipeng responded.

......

While the Double Rest Sect was still preparing for tomorrow’s battle, a banquet was underway inside the Junlin Tower.

This was actually a family natured banquet, with most of the attendees being members of the Imperial Family along with a few teachers of the princes.

Edward II sat at the main seat, with Empress Heloise on his left and his eldest son Gars on his right, while the others were seated according to their status and rank.

Earl Clyde, involved in the recent plot against Sir Ireya, was present as Gars’s swordsmanship teacher.

However, Edward II did not mention this incident tonight, and as the banquet began, he raised his glass and said in a deep voice.

"Today, the Empire lost a great Knight. Let us first toast to Keron,"

Earl Clyde was uneasy, having no mood for drinking, yet when Edward II mentioned the Silver Knight, being a friend of Keron, he had no choice but to down the drink in his glass.

Then, Edward II began lecturing his sons on the need to live harmoniously and forbade unnecessary conflicts, so the second toast, proposed by the Prince, was dedicated to harmony—and Clyde had no choice but to drink again.

For the third toast, Edward II directly thanked Clyde and the other teachers for their careful guidance to the princes and princesses.

Naturally, Clyde could not escape this toast either, and after these three, he continued drinking sloppily until he was on his sixth or seventh glass, and he quickly began feeling overwhelmed by the alcohol since he was not a heavy drinker.

Edward II had someone take Clyde to a room nearby to rest, though Clyde actually preferred to leave directly; however, the Emperor told him there would be a performance he should watch later.

Thus, Clyde had to stay, but he was already feeling dizzy. With the maid’s help, he barely made it to the room where Clyde soon began to vomit into a jar.

The maid, seeing this, went out to fetch water for Clyde, who after vomiting felt slightly better. Just then, the maid returned, and Clyde took the water from her to rinse his mouth, then spit it out.

When he looked up, he realized that the person who had just handed him the water was not the maid who had helped him into the room but someone else.

"Priest of Cornelia?!" Clyde’s expression changed dramatically as he recognized the person, unable to hide the fear on his face.

"I just want to talk to you, Sir Clyde," the Female Priest said.

As she spoke, she reached out a hand, but Clyde recoiled as if he saw something horrifying, and he cried out, "No, no, don’t touch me!"

"Why are you so afraid? I am here to help you," the Priest of Cornelia said soothingly.

"Or would you prefer that His Majesty investigates this matter? You know what that means, don’t you? His temper has always been quite fearful."

"It wasn’t me. I have no quarrel with Sir Ireya, how could I possibly frame her?" Clyde raised his voice.

"Then prove it to me," the Female Priest gently stroked Earl Clyde’s cheek, "One who has strayed, open your heart to me, let me see what you are truly thinking."
