Chapter 485: Chapter 103: The War Song Resounds Again

Seeing the opponent start the battle with despicable means and disable one of their own, Crow and others were enraged, drawing their weapons and clashing with Thomas and his men without a second word.

Objectively speaking, these young squire knights possessed impressive martial arts skills, befitting their Royal Knight Order heritage—the only thing they seemed to lack was experience.

In one-on-one combat, Thomas wasn’t even sure he could defeat his current opponent, especially considering the young people’s status and the families backing them.

The Lady’s guard captain would naturally have reservations when making his move, unable to commit fully to the fight.

Fortunately, Grey Mane had quickly eliminated one opponent, turning the situation into six against five, meaning that inevitably, one unlucky soul in Crow’s group would be caught between two attackers.

Therefore, Thomas simply adopted a defensive stance, trying to buy time until the unfortunate one could no longer hold on and was neatly knocked unconscious from behind by the Wandering Knight, Orwell.

Now, the Lady’s side had two more people.

Crow and the others’ faces grew even uglier, but Mad Dog remains unafraid, spitting on the ground and cursing, "Shameless! A person like you doesn’t deserve to be a noble."

Wild was unfazed, "When you go to a battlefield, do you expect your enemies to all engage you in one-on-one duels?"

"This isn’t the battlefield, is it?!" replied the Skinny Man angrily.

"Exactly, and you should be thankful for that; otherwise, your companion right now wouldn’t just be lying on the ground—he would be dead," retorted Wild.

The Skinny Man was left speechless with an ashen face, and while they were talking, another one was taken down.

Seeing this, Crow was completely frantic and challenged Wild, "I want to duel you! One-on-one, if you win, we’ll concede, but if you lose, you lose..."

He paused there, seemingly unable to think of a proper consequence for Wild.

"If you lose, you’ll apologize to us," Skinny Man finished the sentence for him, though the words lacked any sort of imposing presence.

And he didn’t believe for a second that the treacherously crafty little dwarf in front of him would accept the proposal.

After all, they were clearly about to lose, but to everyone’s surprise, Wild actually nodded, genuinely stopping his current actions.

"Fine. Today I’ll let you lose convincingly," said the Singleton Family Head, his words cut off by Ferdinand.

The latter stepped forward, a reverse-edge strike flicking Crow’s side-sword away and then raising his two-handed sword above his head, followed by a downward strike, the tip stopping less than a centimeter from Crow’s nose.

He said, "Have you forgotten you still have an opponent in front of you? Didn’t your teacher in the Knight Order teach you not to get distracted during a fight?"

With a single sentence, Ferdinand left Crow almost with nowhere to hide his shame.

And when he turned back, he saw that Mad Dog and Skinny Man were also lying on the ground.

Crow’s face instantly flushed red. He wanted to say they were overwhelmed by numbers, but while others taken down might have had that right, he could not complain.

Because from start to finish, his only opponent was Ferdinand.

Even when Rogers had intended to come help him, he was stopped by a look from Ferdinand.

He realized he had underestimated these people, especially this serious man of few words in front of him.

And this fellow was every bit as provocative as the little dwarf beside him.

Crow almost fainted when Ferdinand said, "If you’re not convinced, you can pick up your sword and we can have another fight."

He clenched his fists tightly and was about to say something when suddenly he heard a strange piece of music drifting down from upstairs.

"Love you for walking down dark alleys alone, love how you never kneel~ Love you for standing against despair, refusing to cry~"

When they first heard the music, everyone present was a bit puzzled because they couldn’t understand what the lyrics were actually saying.

Only the Lady’s face changed drastically after a moment of confusion, "Assassins, that assassin has come again!"

Since the body sensor used by Li Yu was of the smart home variety, he had also designed it to link with an alarm system.

As soon as the body sensor detected movement, it would activate an old cell phone to play a selected part of "The Lone Warrior."

In other words, when this familiar music started playing, it meant that someone had sneaked into Miss Rabbit’s room.

At this moment, many thoughts flashed through the Lady’s mind, and she understood some things that she hadn’t been able to figure out before.

After she had decimated her opponents outside the Second Knight Corps camp yesterday, it seemed that she had deterred many, and since then, no one had dared to challenge her.

And yet, Crow’s group of six had refused to believe in superstitions. Ireya had just heard their challenge downstairs and thought their timing seemed strange.

It turned out they were coordinating with the Church of Life’s assassin, drawing her out of her room and diverting the attention of others.

However, the assassin had underestimated the Lady’s methods, or more accurately, Li Yu’s methods. He thought he could sneak into the room unnoticed, just like last time, and leave without a trace.

But he was caught red-handed by the body sensor.

Then everyone heard sounds of a fight coming from upstairs, mixed with a strange buzzing noise.

Crow didn’t know why, but he shivered involuntarily upon hearing that sound.

Soon enough, the window to Ireya’s room burst open, and a figure crashed out from above.

Head first, plummeting straight towards the ground—if they were to hit, they might not die, but they would likely be crippled at best.

Yet, just before hitting the ground, no one knew how the person did it mid-air, but they twisted their body and landed on their legs instead.

And from such a height, their posture was still incredibly light; when they landed, they hardly sustained any injuries and made virtually no sound at all.

Jude poked his head out the window and was also rather moved by the sight.

He considered jumping down himself, but upon gauging the height, he hesitated; most importantly, he still had the Holy Sword in his hands. It didn’t matter if he crippled himself, but if he damaged the Holy Sword, he would be a sinner of the Double Rest Sect.

Besides, even if Jude didn’t go down, that assassin wouldn’t be able to escape because Thomas and the others, having heard the Lady’s words, had already surrounded him, trapping the assassin completely.

"Hahaha, let’s see where you can run to this time," the Lady said happily, uttering a classic villain’s line.

Luckily, this was not on a movie set, and the assassin truly had nowhere to escape. Moreover, Thomas and his men only realized upon getting closer that there was a ferocious wound on the assassin’s back that looked very gruesome.

It was clearly the handiwork of Jude’s Holy Sword. With such a serious injury, even if no one pursued, he probably wouldn’t be able to get too far.
