Chapter 67: Her Prophetic Dream Came True
Chapter 67: Her Prophetic Dream Came True
Xander abruptly stood up. Still heavily drunk, he stumbled on his foot. Calix quickly held his friend’s shoulders.
"Urgh, you’re so drunk," complained Calix. He glanced at the empty bottles of wine and whiskey sitting on the table, "Come here. I’ll drive you there. Davin, you follow us too."
"Hah? Okay, okay."
Calix and Davin helped the drunk and grumpy Xander to walk. The former grabbed the car keys before heading out of the front door. Leslie quietly tailed after them.
"Davin, you and Xander sit in the back," Calix pushed Xander to the backseat of his car, "Look after him. Don’t disturb me driving."
"Yeah, yeah..."
Having no choice, Davin had to deal with the drunk Xander who turned enraged within a moment. The latter tried calling Violet but, none of the calls went through.
The cool spring air did nothing to alleviate their worries. All of them wondered what was happening to Violet now.
Calix sighed out loud. With a tilt of his chin, he gestured for Leslie to sit on the front passenger seat. Without saying anything, she went inside the car.
Ring ring!
Edward called, bearing news. Calix quickly answered it while buckling the seatbelt.
"Did you get her location?"
"She’s at Grandeur Palace Hotel. I’ve sent our people there. Her assistant said she couldn’t find Miss Yu anywhere."
Calix scowled, thinking how Leslie’s words seemed to match the situation.
"Check every corner. Don’t miss anything. She might be somewhere. No matter what, find Miss Yu. Tell the hotel..."
Understanding Calix’s words, Leslie hurriedly interjected.
"Check Room 35-10! She might be there!"
Calix was dumbfounded, his grip on the phone loosened. He stared at Leslie, getting the words to sink into his mind.
"That man should be waiting there," Leslie reiterated, "Room 35-10."
The room number was still clear in Leslie’s mind. Relief eased a part of her troubled heart due to the small memory she remembered.
"Edward..." Calix repeated Leslie’s words, "Check Room 35-10."
"Yes!"
Like earlier, Edward didn’t question Calix. He immediately followed his boss’ orders. New instructions were given to his underlings.
Calix also didn’t waste time. He tapped on the screen, checking the location and traffic of the Grandeur Palace Hotel. Thankfully, the traffic was decent despite being a weekend midnight.
Along the way, none of them spoke of anything except for Xander. He got hold of Violet’s assistant but, the answer was the same one Calix received.
"How could you let her out of sight?! We’re going there now! Cooperate with the Xu’s people."
Xander tossed the phone away. Davin quickly retrieved it before it fell to the floor. The former sighed out loud, his head throbbing badly due to the alcohol influence.
"Calix..." Xander’s gruff voice was directed to Calix, "Where did you hear this? Are you sure... Violet’s in danger?"
Calix clenched his jaw, racking his brain on how to answer Xander. He knew that his friend was doubting his words.
"Let’s talk later," Calix replied, sounding firmer than ever, "We should focus on Violet’s safety now."
"...yeah."
Xander grabbed his phone from Davin’s hands. After several failed attempts to reach Violet, he directed his efforts to get his people to the hotel. They could team up with Calix’s team.
Leslie had been quiet from the moment she entered Calix’s car.
Despite still worrying about the female lead, she was amazed by how swiftly the male lead and the supporting characters took action. They mobilized their power and people to reach their goals.
But, the coolest person was undoubtedly Calix.
If not for his willingness to listen to her claim despite sounding dubious, no one would start looking for the female lead’s whereabouts now.
’It’ll be midnight soon.’
Leslie clasped her hands tighter. She kept her eyes on the clock in the car. Her heart rammed frantically against her chest
A few minutes before Calix reached Grandeur Palace Hotel, he received another call from Edward. He connected it to the Bluetooth speakers, letting everyone inside the car hear.
"Boss Xu! We found Miss Yu. We caught Miss Tang and the man inside the room."
Calix was stunned. As if blood drained out of his face, his complexion turned pale.
Leslie’s prophetic dream... came true.
Was this her ability?
"Keep them together," Calix quickly recomposed himself, "We’ll reach there soon."
"Wait! How’s Violet?" shouted Xander in distress, "How is she? Is she alright?"
Xander couldn’t reach Violet until now. He needed to hear how she was. He couldn’t wait until they reached the hotel.
Edward was not affected by Xander’s yell. He calmly reported, "CEO Qin, Miss Yu is drunk but, she’s safe. We let her sleep in the next room. The doctor is watching over her."
"...that’s good," Xander mumbled under his breath. He gradually regained his sobriety.
Once Edward hung up, a momentary silence fell inside the car. Calix glanced at Leslie. He noticed her lips curling up as relief was expressed through her gaze.
This incident...
If Leslie kept her prophetic dream to herself because she didn’t want to be judged, Calix was certain Violet wouldn’t be found until harm fell on her. By then, it would be too late.
’I need to thank her properly.’
He would be the only one who knew of her contribution to this incident.
How... sad and lonely was that?
Shaking his head slightly, Calix continued driving to the hotel. He could think about it further after everything was solved. The hotel building was already visible from where the car was.
To avoid attracting the attention of people who might know them, Calix and the others went to Floor 35 using the private elevators.
Edward got the hotel director’s cooperation. Their side also didn’t want to incur the wrath of the Qin and the Xu families.
Miss Tang and the unknown man were detained in Room 35-10. Violet was sleeping in the one next to it.
Xander rushed to see his lover while Calix went to look at the perpetrator and her accomplice. Davin accompanied the former as requested by Calix.
"Boss Xu," Edward greeted Calix once he realized his employer’s presence. He waited outside the room, "Miss Tang and that man are inside. His surname is Guan."
The woman was a rising actress named Monica Tang. She used to act alongside Violet in two fantasy dramas. Her agency was Majestic Entertainment, one of XuGlam Entertainment’s rivals.
The man, Alex Guan was a well-known troublemaker within this area. He would do anything for money.
The trash of a woman formed a tag team with the scum of a man to harm Violet. The reason? Probably out of jealousy.
"I’ll talk to them first. Don’t let anyone in," Calix glanced at Leslie before looking at the door, "Keep watch on Xander. He might run amok."
Knowing how extreme Xander could be, Calix wouldn’t be surprised. Even a woman like Monica Tang wouldn’t be spared from his rage.
Sigh...
Calix could imagine the headlines for tomorrow morning. Monica might be pushed to the bottom or banned from the entertainment industry.
"Understand, sir."
Calix gently tugged at Leslie’s dress, telling her to follow him inside. The two of them entered the room. Edward closed the door, not allowing anyone to interrupt his boss.
The outgoing CEO Xu would show the side he rarely let others see.
