Chapter 66: The Female Lead Was in Danger
Chapter 66: The Female Lead Was in Danger
"H-hah!"
Leslie jolted up, waking up from the dream. Cold sweat dripped on her back. She immediately threw questions at Mimo, her tone sounded so desperate.
"Mimo! What did I see? Is it happening now?"
Leslie was so shocked and despaired because she couldn’t help Violet at all. More so when she suddenly returned to reality at the moment that man tried to take off her dress.
You saw a fragment of the story, Leslie.
"...what?"
Leslie was dumbfounded. Mimo floated from the bed, jumping to land on her lap. The crochet fox toy stared at her perplexed countenance.
Have you forgotten? You’ll eventually learn of some parts of the story, even in the Chapters you haven’t read.
"T-that’s right..."
Leslie blinked, recalling what Mimo had told[1] her before.
"Then... will it happen tonight?" Leslie glanced at the wall clock, finding that the time would strike eleven in ten minutes, "I saw the clock inside the hotel room. It showed midnight."
It will happen soon. Leslie, quick! You have to help the female lead!
Leslie didn’t know why she received the vision. Usually, the male lead would magically appear to save the female lead, but...
The male lead might be drunkenly wasted in the lounge now!
"Mimo, do you know what will happen if I don’t intervene?" asked Leslie while standing to her feet, getting ready to pass through the ceiling to reach Calix faster.
The male lead will get the female lead’s photos of her sleeping with that man. The male lead will destroy the cannon fodder but, he’ll become more possessive toward the female lead. She’ll be locked up for a week inside his room.
"..."
What kind of sadistic love story was this?!
When Leslie started reading the book, she didn’t expect that Xander’s character would turn out to be even worse as the story went on.
"I need to be quick!"
Leslie jumped through the ceiling. She found herself in the hallway near the lounge. Without wasting time, she rushed to where Calix and his friends gathered.
"Calix!"
Calix flinched. He paused from finishing the strawberry pudding placed inside a glass cup. Stiffly turned his head around to the direction of the voice, he saw Leslie waving one hand at him.
"Come here! Quick! It’s urgent!"
Calix forced himself to swallow the pudding stuck in his throat. Putting the cup down, he told Davin, "I’ll go to the toilet. Don’t let this guy drink anymore."
"Haha, alright," Davin stared at Xander who was terribly drunk right now, "He finished two bottles already."
Xander sat on the couch with his right leg crossed on his left. He leaned against the backrest, the back of his hand supporting one side of his reddened face.
If people didn’t know him, they might assume he was simply closing his eyes to take a nap. CEO Qin remained looking remarkably dignified even when he was drunk.
Calix gestured to the outside. Leslie quickly followed him. They went to another room down the hallway. He locked the door before talking to her.
"Did something happen?" Calix stared at Leslie from head to toe. Her tensed countenance expressed her worries, "Are you okay?"
"That... Calix, what I’ll say next might sound insane but, please listen to me first."
Leslie was hesitant but, she had to tell Calix no matter what.
Even though the story would continue flowing whether she intervened or not, she didn’t want to put Violet – the female lead in such a situation.
Violet would surely be traumatized! She might even think her dignity was tainted by that man even though he was just pretending!
"W-what? Leslie, calm down," Calix tried to soothe Leslie’s nerves, "Tell me first. Didn’t you say it’s urgent?"
Leslie pursed her lips. Brows furrowing, she forced herself to tell Calix everything.
"I think Violet... your friend’s girlfriend is in danger. She’ll be taken advantage of!"
"...what?"
"She’s in danger! Someone will push her to a man! They want to blackmail her!"
Under Calix’s incredulous gaze, Leslie continued telling the rest. She mentioned that someone called Miss Tang planned to send Violet to a man’s bed at midnight. The cunning woman would send the explicit photos to Xander.
"Y-you... how do you know this?"
Calix wanted to believe Leslie even though this sounded so dubious. But, this was a grave situation.
If they didn’t act fast, Violet would fall for such an underhanded trick. Such situations often happen in the muddy waters of the entertainment industry.
Calix knew it too well even before his sister Evelyn became an actress.
"T-that... I saw it... in my dream, a prophetic one."
Leslie couldn’t bear to say it was just a scene inside a story. She made excuses by saying she simply oversaw the future through her dreams.
"...a prophetic dream?"
Calix’s brows almost merged together. He had so many questions to ask Leslie yet, this was not the time for it.
Whether her dream was a prophetic one or not, he would know once he took action.
"Let’s talk about this later. For now, I’ll alert Xander and the rest."
Leslie was immensely relieved. She nodded a few times, "Y-yes!"
Instead of rushing to the lounge, Calix quickly made a phone call. In the next second, Edward’s voice echoed from the end of the line.
"Edward, this is urgent. Check where Violet Yu is and have our people guard her discreetly. Immediately! I’ll explain more soon."
"Yes, sir!"
Edward didn’t joke as usual. He noticed that his boss was being serious right now. He immediately did as he was told.
Because Violet Yu was an artist under XuGlam Entertainment, it would be easier to trace her location. Her assistant would surely be with her.
Xander might know because he required Violet to tell him her schedule but, asking that drunk man right now wasn’t a good decision. It would be better if Edward stepped in.
"Edward will get to her first," Calix glanced at Leslie, "I’ll wake Xander up. He’ll be pissed if this thing happens for real. Miss Tang... if I’m correct, she’s Violet’s friend from another company."
Calix didn’t know everything about Violet. He only remembered what Xander used to tell him before.
"We’ll know if she’s that Miss Tang or they just have the same surname," pointed out Leslie.
"Yeah, you’re right. Let’s go now."
Leslie simply nodded. She followed when Calix rushed back to the lounge.
"Hey, Xander, wake up," Calix smacked Xander’s right shoulder a few times, "Wake up ah!"
"Calix, what’s wrong?" asked Davin. He was half-drunk, "Don’t disturb him ah. He’ll bite you."
Xander was already a grumpy man. His mood would worsen when he was drunk or sleepy.
"Violet’s in danger, hey!" Calix finally slapped Xander’s face, "Xander, wake up!"
"What... what did you say?" Xander groggily opened his eyes. His gaze was unfocused, "Violet? Did you... say her name?"
"Get up! I don’t know for sure but, your girl might be in danger ah! I told my people to look for her."
"What kind of danger?" Xander’s distorted sense of reality sharpened. He stared at Calix, "She’s meeting her friends tonight. Did they do something to her?"
Anger flared out of Xander’s eyes as veins throbbed on his temple.
