Chapter 536: The Perfect Choice for Her Mama
After taking a nap, Calliope regained her energy and continued having fun at the theme park. She squealed when Calix said they would go to the fairy tale boat ride next.
"Papa, can Poppy meet Mr. Knight and Mr. Dragon?"
"Oh~ How about a pumpkin carriage?"
"Papa, do you know what a dwarf ah?"
Calix chuckled as he carried Calliope to the fairy tale boat ride, amused by how chatty the little dumpling was. Persuading her to take a nap after lunch resulted in the return of her energy.
Soon, the father and daughter duo arrived at the ride.
Calliope’s eyes sparkled once she saw the pastel-colored boats, gently bobbing on the canal. Each boat was decorated like a magical carriage, complete with intricate golden designs and cushioned seats.
"Papa, look!" Calliope exclaimed, tugging at Calix’s coat lapel excitedly, "So pretty! The boats are so pretty ah."
"They are, my buttercup," Calix mused in agreement. Turning to look at Calliope, he pointed to one of the vacant boats, "Wanna ride the one with the pink sails?"
"Yes! Pink is the best!" Calliope chirped, her cheeks puffing in excitement.
With the exclusive passes, Calix and Calliope were escorted straight to their chosen boat. He helped her climb in instead of carrying her like always. They settled on the cushioned seats as the boat operator started the ride.
The boat with the pink sail began to glide along the waterway, surrounded by whimsical scenery.
Calliope squealed and waved at the animatronic animals and fairy-tale characters that waving from the banks. A soft narration told the stories of the princesses, knights and magical creatures.
"Hi, Mr. Knight! Do you fight with Mr. Dragon?"
"Sleeping Beauty, wake up!"
"Oh, you look so good ah, Mr. White Horse."
An excited Calliope waved and talked to the animatronics without stopping, earning chuckles from Calix. He didn’t waste time taking more adorable photos of Calliope.
Before the ride ended, the boat passed under a tunnel lit with sparkling stars.
Calix pointed to the ceiling, saying, "Look, Poppy. Aren’t those stars cute? They sparkle!"
Calliope tilted her head back, her eyes wide with wonder, "Papa, like the sky when we go to that island before ah. Pretty like this."
Calix chuckled upon hearing Calliope referencing their island trip before. He placed one palm on the back of her little head, stroking it gently.
Soon, their family would go on more adventures together.
After the fairy tale boat ride, their next destination was the animal ride. The children and their guardians could ride the life-sized mechanical animals. They were as big as the ones at the merry-go-round.
Lions, giraffes, horses and even unicorns lined up on the guided path.
"Unicorn!"
Calliope excitedly chose to hop on the pink unicorn. Calix helplessly sat behind the little one on the unicorn, making sure she was secured in her place.
Along with the other visitors, Calix and Calliope enjoyed the ride as the animals began to move forward. They trotted past a backdrop of enchanted forests and rolling meadows.
More giggles and squeals of delight came from Calliope as her imagination ran wild. The other children were just the same, evidently enjoying the moment.
When the ride ended, Calliope hugged the unicorn’s neck. Calix had already climbed down.
The little dumpling sweetly said, "Mr. Unicorn~ Thank you. You’re the best!"
Calix took Calliope for a snack break soon after leaving the animal ride. He wanted to bring her to the petting zoo before dropping by the souvenir shop.
"Petting zoo? Poppy can pet the animals?" asked Calliope after she chewed and swallowed the snack. Her chubby cheeks puffed like a little chipmunk’s.
"Poppy needs to be careful," Calix brushed one finger on Calliope’s lip, wiping the cream away, "Pet the animals gently, okay? If not, Poppy will scare them."
"Oh, no!" horrified, Calliope hurriedly shook her head, "Poppy won’t scare the animals! Won’t!"
Calliope showed how true her words were very soon. She approached the fluffy rabbits, the chirping chicks and the relaxing goats with the utmost care before petting them.
"Mr. Rabbit, come and eat ah," Calliope spoke, almost in a whisper as she held a small bowl of rabbit-safe treats, "Eat more food and be more chonky ah."
Calix stifled from laughing as he watched Calliope talk to the curious bunnies. One brown bunny hopped closer, sniffing her fingers before nibbling at the treat.
"Papa, he’s so soft," Calliope whispered to Calix who crouched beside her, "Can we take him home?"
Calix chuckled, amused by Calliope’s request, "He will miss his friends here, my buttercup. But, we can always visit him again."
"Oh... okay," Calliope pouted before stroking the bunny’s ears gently, "Mr. Bunny, I will come and visit you and your friends again ah. I will take my mama too."
Calix nodded in approval. He wouldn’t say no to another theme park visit, this time with his lovely wife Leslie along. They might stay at the hotel overnight for a better experience.
Soon, Calliope waved goodbye to her fluffy friends in the petting zoo pen. Calix carried the exhausted yet cheerful little dumpling, this time they headed to the souvenir shops.
They should never go home before getting some items from the souvenir shops!
Once again Calliope was in a wonderland as she stepped into one of the shops. Brightly colored shelves filled with keychains, stuffed animals and other keepsakes featuring the theme park attracted her little heart.
"Poppy want this... this... oh, this for Granny Wendy, then... this one for..."
Calix arched his brows seeing the two full baskets of souvenirs. Logan and Owen appeared to hold the plastic baskets. They glanced at the colorful souvenirs before staring at their boss.
Their little lady didn’t hold back at all when shopping ah.
Calix crouched down to Calliope’s level. Patting the little dumpling’s head, he asked, "Which one is for Mama, en?"
Calliope smiled sheepishly at Calix, pointing to a shelf opposite her, "Papa, the pretty snow globe. Mama will love it, right?"
Calix rose to his feet, carefully grabbing the snow globe pointed by Calliope. Arching his brows, once again he crouched to show it to the little dumpling.
"This one, en?"
"Hehe," Calliope giggled, whispering animatedly to Calix, "Papa, it has the cups we ride before ah."
The snow globe featured a fairytale castle, surrounded by colorful cups. The snow-like glitters floated in the water as Calix lightly shook it.
"It’s the perfect choice for your mama," Calix nodded, reassuring Calliope, "She will love it."
Calliope grinned, her cheeks pinkening. She couldn’t wait to give the snow globe to her mama.
