Chapter 528: Everything Is For Us

On his way back to Graceville Manor, Calix told Logan to drop by Bloom & Bliss. It was a florist he often frequented whenever he wanted to buy fresh flowers for Leslie.

The flower shop was strategically located on the way to Mapleview Heights. Calix was already on good terms with Mrs. Shen, the owner of Bloom & Bliss.

The middle-aged lady generously guided him about buying flowers for his beloved wife. Of course, his darling daughter also had her own share.

Ding!

Following the chime of the bell, Mrs. Shen’s voice echoed from the inside, "Welcome! Oh! It’s you, Mr. Xu. Looking for another bouquet for your wife?"

Mrs. Shen’s eyes flickered in recognition upon seeing Calix. She approached the young man, looking dapper in his tailored suit in the color navy blue.

"A bouquet of red roses and one white rose in the middle, please."

Mrs. Shen chuckled upon getting the order from Calix. Raising her brows, the older lady asked teasingly, "You’re not going to ask for a recommendation this time?"

Smiling, Calix shook his head, "Not this time. Oh, please add the bear cookie set. It’s for my daughter."

Mrs. Shen quickly handled Calix’s flower order after telling her staff to get the cookie staff. Within a short time, the man headed out of the florist with the bouquet and the cookies.

Calix knew that Leslie couldn’t wait to hear everything about Nicholas’ capture thus, he didn’t want to waste time unnecessarily. Logan pulled up the car on the main porch in less than ten minutes.

Glancing at his wristwatch, Calix thought the time was still early—nine-fifteen.

"I’m home."

Calix announced his arrival once he entered the manor. Closing the door behind him, he quickly changed out of his leather shoes into home slippers.

"Honey, here!"

The manor was peacefully quiet until Calix heard Leslie’s voice calling for him. He quickened his pace, heading to the lounge. The flowers and cookie box shook slightly, following his movements.

Helpless laughter escaped Calix’s lips once he saw Leslie on the couch with a sleeping Calliope on her lap. The little dumpling clung to her mama like a koala bear.

"How long has she been asleep?" asked Calix, more chuckles slipping from his mouth. Striding to the couch, he presented the bouquet to Leslie, "For you, my love."

Leslie’s lips curled into a smile. The red roses were reflected in her doe eyes, "Hehe, thank you, honey."

Calix had to place the bouquet and the cookie set on the seat next to Leslie before carefully carrying Calliope. The little dumpling was stirred awake, barely realizing it was her papa.

"Papa... back home..."

Calliope slurred in her drowsiness, her eyelids heavy. She instinctively leaned her little head on her papa’s shoulders, her tiny hands grasping his coat.

"Papa is home now," Calix placed one palm on the back of Calliope’s head, his voice carrying the peace of his heart, "Good night, my buttercup."

"En..."

The smile on Leslie’s lips softened. From the way Calix looked, she could tell everything was fine. It was enough to put her heart at ease.

Rising to her feet, Leslie carried the flower bouquet and the cookie box while Calix carried Calliope. They exchanged a loving look before silently heading upstairs.

Calix and Leslie didn’t talk about Nicholas until they reached their bedroom. As she sank into the edge of the bed, still holding the bouquet, he stood near while taking off his coat.

"How was it, honey?" asked Leslie, unable to hold her curiosity back, "Did he get caught with many people looking?"

Leslie knew the gist of Xander’s plan. The male lead intended to humiliate Nicholas by having the police arrest him when the party was in full swing.

Still, Leslie wanted to hear about it from Calix. She couldn’t help but wonder how the actual scene played out.

Chuckles bubbled on Calix’s lips upon seeing the evident curiosity in Leslie’s eyes. Hanging the coat on the standing rack, he quickly took a seat just next to her.

"What I can say is... it’s so satisfying!" Calix burst out laughing, recalling the moment Nicholas realized he knew about the latter’s sinister plan, "Hehe, what happened was..."

Under Leslie’s curious gaze, Calix narrated the event from the beginning until the end. He especially emphasized the part when he casually swirled the wine glass while locking his eyes with Nicholas.

"Xander purposely told the police to storm in when Nicholas approached us," Calix leaned closer to Leslie, resting his head on her shoulder, "It was so dramatic. You should’ve seen it."

Raising her hand, Leslie gently stroked the side of Calix’s face. She let him lean his head on her shoulder, sensing his body relaxing.

"Hehe~ Maybe you can get the CCTV of the hall when it happened," Leslie quickly suggested, also desiring to watch the scene where Nicholas was arrested, "Surely, he can give it to us."

"Oh, I’ve forgotten about that. Sure! I’ll ask him."

A peaceful silence enveloped the husband and wife as they ceased talking. Leslie noticed Calix had closed his eyes, perhaps out of exhaustion.

And, from the relief flooded his heart.

After a moment of silence, Leslie parted her lips, asking Calix, "Honey, you’re planning to meet him. Don’t you?"

"Yes, I do," Calix replied, his voice was a low murmur, "At the very least, I have to meet him once."

Calix and Leslie discussed Nicholas being the mastermind of the accident six years ago. Due to the lack of concrete evidence, they decided to let the matter go.

The most important thing was, Nicholas was finally arrested. Based on the charges and the damning evidence Xander discovered, his future was in prison.

Not only did Calix and Leslie finally overcome the last obstacle but, they also avenged the original Calix’s death, in a way.

Lifting her arms, Leslie wrapped them around Calix’s neck, her lips whispering sweetly into his ear, "You’ve done well, honey. I’m so proud of you."

Calix’s lips melted into a honeyed smile. Encircling his arms around Leslie’s waist, he pressed his head in the crook of her neck.

"Thank you, sweetheart. Thank you... Everything is for us."

Leslie chuckled as she caught the slight sob in Calix’s voice. She gently patted her back, also wishing for a bright future for their family.
