Chapter 516: Wish to be an Elder Sister

Smiling at the couple sitting across the table, Dr. Mo calmly said, "We shall revisit this topic during your next appointment, Mrs. Xu. For now, take this time to focus more on your health."

Leslie and Calix nodded, agreeing with Dr. Mo. Her advice for now was enough as a starting.

Slowly standing up, they thanked the female professional for her assistance time and again.

"It’s my duty, Mrs. Xu and Mr. Xu," Dr. Mo also rose to her feet, smiling calmly at the husband and wife, "Take care of each other. We’ll meet again next month."

"Yes, Dr. Mo."

"See you again."

Leslie and Calix headed out of the doctor’s office, both wearing the same delighted expressions. Dr. Mo’s reassurances helped to put their minds at ease.

They walked past the other patients, guardians and hospital staff in the spacious hallway. Their slow and steady steps led them out of the floor, heading to the elevator.

Logan and the other bodyguards waited outside as per Calix’s instructions. They would pick the husband and wife up at the lobby downstairs.

"Hehe, are you that happy, honey?"

Laughter laced Leslie’s question as she looked at Calix’s side profile, noticing how wide his smile and bright his eyes were. He was basically beaming with joy.

"Of course! I’m so happy!"

"...honey!"

Leslie almost yelled when Calix suddenly side-hugged her tight. She smacked her chest, only to earn chuckles from the ecstatic man. Her palm sensed the vibration coming from his chest as he laughed.

"Hehe, we’ll listen to Dr. Mo’s arrangement, okay? I better feed you with more nutritious food ah. How about we go on a stroll and do some exercises every morning before I go to work?"

Leslie shook her head in helplessness, amused by how delighted Calix was. She could imagine Calliope acting just like her papa if she learned about this.

The little dumpling was already vocal about her intention of being an elder sister. Either getting a baby brother or a baby sister, she didn’t mind at all.

Shooting Calix a look, Leslie playfully replied, "You’re just looking for a chance to fatten me up, aren’t you? And no, I love my bed more especially in the morning."

"Hahaha! So cheeky ah."

Leslie elbowed Calix’s side, trying to get him to stop. They would be everyone’s focus if he continued laughing like that.

"Work! Go to work ah!" Leslie narrowed her eyes, side-eyeing Calix, "Don’t forget you still have work today, CEO Xu."

"Hehe, okay~ I won’t forget I have to earn money for my wife and children ."

Once again Leslie elbowed Calix’s side. He put on his sad puppy look, only to receive a glare from her.

That Wednesday was the best day of the week for both Calix and Leslie, also to the man’s subordinates. None of the employees suffered from their boss’ nagging that day.

If only they could, they would make a petition to get their boss’ wife to come to the office every day!

On Saturday morning, Calix brought Leslie and Calliope to Qindom Plaza, the luxury mall owned by the Qin family[01]. As always, Logan and his colleagues escorted them.

The executive van glided smoothly along the streets, lit by the bright sun high in the sky. The interior was filled with excited chatter from a certain dumpling strapped to her child’s car seat.

"Mama, Papa, can Poppy get a pink dress?"

"Mia tell Poppy she wanna wear a pink dress too."

"Will Poppy and Mia be like the princess in the movie?"

Leslie and Calix laughed softly, happy to know how much Calliope anticipated the banquet at the end of the month. The little one and her equally small cousin talked about dresses when they met last week.

"You can, my darling," Leslie said, smiling at Calliope as she gently patted the little one’s arm, "We’ll find the perfect pink dress for you."

Leslie couldn’t wait to see Calliope trying different dresses soon. Still, they had to keep it in moderation if not, the little dumpling might be tired and turned cranky.

"You and your mama will look good in any dress, my buttercup," Calix chimed in, unable to contain the excitement in his heart, "If you want pink, then we’ll get a pink dress for you."

As they approached Qindom Plaza, the mall came into view, grand among the surrounding buildings. The cascading greenery and vibrant flowers accentuated its sleek architecture.

Logan pulled into the basement parking lot, heading to the VIP area. The other van followed closely from behind.

"Careful."

Calix offered his hand to Leslie once he stepped out. She accepted it with a warm smile. Calliope hopped down after being helped out of the child’s car seat by Logan.

Holding Calliope’s hands, Calix and Leslie led the little one inside the mall.

The atmosphere in Qindom Plaza was an opulent blend of serenity and elegance. The sunlight streamed through the glass ceilings was reflected on the polished marble floors.

At this hour, the mall was still scarce from visitors. They might start filling the building in one hour more.

"Mama, Papa, this place is like a castle," Calliope exclaimed, her eyes darting around, "Look! There’s a piano!"

Calliope’s eyes widened at the side of a grand piano from a nearby atrium. An older gentleman was playing the piano. His fingers danced seamlessly on the keys.

"Your Uncle Xander will be proud to hear that," Calix chuckled, happy to see Calliope enjoying herself, "This place belongs to your Uncle Xander."

"Really?" Calliope gasped, her round eyes staring at Calix with awe, "Is Uncle Xander like a king, Papa?"

"You can say so, my buttercup."

Calix and Leslie exchanged some laughter, amused by Calliope’s wording. If only Xander was here, that man could hear for himself how the little dumpling viewed him.

"Let’s go. Up you go!"

"Papa!"

Calliope cried out when Calix suddenly carried her. The little dumpling’s protest quickly shifted to wonder as she looked around from a higher angle.

"Oh! Poppy see that! Poppy can see those flowers! Papa, let’s go see them! Hurry ah!"

Calix rolled his eyes, refraining from pinching Calliope’s chubby cheeks. Leslie could only smile as she enjoyed watching the father and daughter’s funny interaction.

"Not yet. We’re going to buy you dresses," Calix shook his head, throwing Calliope a look, "Didn’t you say you want a pink dress?"

"Oh~ Dress first, please~"

Carrying Calliope on his right arm and holding Leslie’s hand with his left, Calix led them to a direction. Their destination was Lavender Thread, the same boutique he brought Leslie to once before.

Bzz.

A soft buzzing sound chimed in Calix’s right ear, coming from an almost invisible earbud nestled discreetly there. One of his bodyguard’s voice soon followed after the buzz.

"Boss."

Calix continued walking, his step didn’t falter as if he didn’t hear his subordinate’s voice. Only the bodyguard knew he was waiting for whatever report he had.

"Mr. N has just driven to the parking lot. Team B is still watching over him."

Calix let out a hum, the sound carried effortlessly by the high-sensitivity microphone. Leslie and Calliope chatted animatedly in the elevator, oblivious to what Calix had just heard.

Nicholas was here.
