Chapter 515: Your Concerns Are Valid

The coming days were peaceful for the family of three.

Calix received no new updates from Xander but, he believed his friend was investigating deeper about Nicholas. His team also did the same.

Calix accompanied Leslie on her next appointment with Dr. Mo on Wednesday. They immediately headed to the hospital after dropping Calliope off at the kindergarten.

As Dr. Mo did her routine examinations on Leslie, Calix sat waiting. Despite knowing how well his wife’s recovery so far was, he couldn’t help but worry.

"Mrs. Xu, your progress is as stellar as always."

Dr. Mo smilingly praised Leslie as they, including Calix, sat together after the checkups ended. Several papers were stacked on the former’s wide work desk, having Leslie’s name printed.

Under Leslie and Calix’s curious gazes, Dr. Mo wasted no time explaining to the spouses about the lady’s recent progress. The female doctor was genuinely happy for her.

"I believe we can end our monthly checkups soon. Before that, let’s see the extent of your recovery in one or two more months."

Leslie and Calix exchanged a smile, relief flooding their hearts. The joy that was reflected on their faces mirrored one another.

"Thank you, Dr. Mo. I indeed feel much, much better," Leslie chuckled, unable to contain the happiness overflowing from her heart, "I still do the exercises regularly even though the rehab has stopped."

Aside from Dr. Mo, Leslie had a lot of gratitude toward the private nurses and the therapists. Their aid was essential in improving her life after emerging from the coma.

"That’s great, Mrs. Xu. Even though you’ve mostly recovered, your stamina is still low. Regular exercises and whatnot will help to rebuild it."

Dr. Mo couldn’t deny that Leslie still had aspects to enhance but, the lady didn’t need to be in a hurry. Everyone should follow their own pace instead of overstraining themselves.

Hearing Dr. Mo’s remark, Leslie was reminded of her conversation with Calix the other day. She glanced at her husband before once again staring at the doctor.

"About rebuilding my stamina... I have something to ask you, doctor."

"What is it, Mrs. Xu?" Dr. Mo raised her brows slightly, intrigued to know. Seeing the hesitation on Leslie’s face, she calmly added, "I’m here to help so, please don’t hesitate to tell me what’s on your mind."

Leslie chuckled, her cheeks pinkening. Under Dr. Mo’s reassurance gaze, she said, "When do you think it’ll be safe for me to conceive? We’re thinking about expanding our family."

Calix’s eyes widened slightly, surprised to hear Leslie bringing up the topic already to Dr. Mo.

Still...

Grabbing Leslie’s hands, Calix squeezed them in his. He smiled at her once before looking back at Dr. Mo, followed by a barrage of words.

"Yes, Dr. Mo. What kind of advice do you have for us? Please be frank. As you know, my wife’s body is still weak. We’re willing to wait for longer if it means she won’t be at risk."

Faint chuckles slipped out of Leslie’s lips. Calix’s action both amused her and warmed her heart. She couldn’t help but clutch his hands in return.

Dr. Mo also thought the same way Leslie did. She had always known how attentive Mr. Xu was to his wife but, seeing it time and again made her wish for their constant happiness.

"Mr. Xu, you’re being so supportive to your wife. That’s wonderful," Dr. Mo smiled, shifting her eyes from Calix to Leslie, "Yes. You two have to consider a few things before moving forward with your plan."

"Please, Dr. Mo," Calix unconsciously leaned forward. He opened his ears wide, "We’re ready to hear whatever we need to do."

Leslie nodded, showing she shared the same view as Calix. The husband and wife gave Dr. Mo their full attention.

"Mrs. Xu, even though you’ve recovered well so far, your body most likely still needs more time to fully regain strength and stamina. As you already know, pregnancy can be very demanding."

Dr. Mo’s words softly echoed in the pristine white office, sharing her knowledge and wisdom as an expert in her field.

Leslie and Calix exchanged a glance. He softened the curves of his lips, hoping to reassure her.

"I understand, Dr. Mo," Leslie nodded, trying to ingrain the doctor’s every word into her mind, "How much longer would you recommend us waiting? A year?"

"I usually advise waiting for at least six to twelve months after a significant medical event," Dr. Mo continued, "In your case, it’s the come. This period will allow your body to stabilize physically and hormonally."

Leslie and Calix were quiet, letting Dr. Mo speak without any interruption this time. The female professional continued.

"Mrs. Xu, I’m aware that you’ve been maintaining a balanced diet. You’re also trying to rebuild your strength and stamina. That’s great but..."

Dr. Mo took a pause. Opening one of the cabinet drawers behind her, she grabbed a few pamphlets before placing them opposite Leslie.

"I also recommend you monitor your overall health and reproductive readiness. We need to ensure your body is fully prepared for the demands of pregnancy. You may read the suggestions here."

Leslie and Calix took the pamphlets. The leaflets shared the same topic, about preparing mothers who suffered from past illnesses for new pregnancies.

Calix lifted his eyes from the brochures, having a question, "If we follow these steps and everything looks good, will it be safe?"

"Every case is unique, Mr. Xu, because every patient’s needs are different," replied Dr. Mo, being all understanding toward his concern, "But, based on Mrs. Xu’s progress so far, I’m optimistic."

Leslie let out a chuckle. Reaching for Calix’s arm, she said, "Honey, don’t worry too much. Dr. Mo will monitor us as well. We also will plan carefully, okay?"

"Mrs. Xu is correct," Dr. Mo nodded, resuming from Leslie’s point, "I’ll work closely with a gynecologist to ensure a healthy pregnancy for Mrs. Xu. Please put your mind at ease."

"Haha... I worry too much. I just hope we’re not rushing into conceiving," Calix laughed at himself, hoping he didn’t look too silly in front of Dr. Mo.

"Your concerns are valid, Mr. Xu," Dr. Mo calmly reassured the man, "Any wife needs her husband’s full support during this important period. Also, after giving birth."

Calix nodded, agreeing with Dr. Mo. Happiness bubbled up from his heart as he foresaw his new future with Leslie and Calliope.
