Chapter 514: Did She Just Love the Idea of Him?
Far from Xander’s penthouse, Violet had just finished filming for a talk show inside a renowned broadcasting station.
As the staff were busy wrapping up the set, Violet still talked to the hostess, Mrs. Bai. The latter was a well-known beauty guru in the entertainment industry.
Aside from two other actors who had just left, Violet was invited to guest at Mrs. Bai’s talk show. The actress shared her skincare routine and her favorite daily makeup, as well as a few other things related to health and beauty.
"Thank you again, Miss Yu. I’m sure this episode will be a success! Your fans have been gushing over your skin and looks!"
Mrs. Bai hugged Violet while singing more praises to the young actress. The latter returned the embrace before gently pulling away.
"I’m honored to be invited here, Mrs. Bai. I can’t wait to watch this episode once it’s aired. You’ve worked hard tonight."
Violet put on her charming smile, responding to the host who had been fawning over her. The lower part of her face felt slightly stiff from all the smiling and laughing she did.
"Hehe~ You’ve worked hard too. I hope I can do your makeup again. Your fans keep raving about how beautiful you’re barefaced. They’re telling the truth!"
Violet’s cheeks pinkened, adding more tint to her blushed face. She remembered cleaning her makeup during the shooting because Mrs. Bai wanted to reapply makeup on her face.
"Thank you for your kind words, Mrs. Bai. I learned more about skincare and makeup from you. I’ll surely try the tips you’ve shared just now."
"Sister Vee!"
As if on cue, Violet’s assistant appeared. The young woman called Adda greeted Mrs. Bai as she approached the two ladies.
Violet inwardly sighed in relief, delighted with Adda’s appearance.
"I have to go now, Mrs. Bai. I hope to meet you again."
"Bye-bye~ See you again, Miss Yu."
Violet smiled once more at the enthusiastic Mrs. Bai before heading out of the studio. She didn’t forget to greet the other staff along her way to the exit.
The broadcasting station was still filled with people working the graveyard shifts. Violet was relieved because the recording didn’t end at midnight.
"Sister Vee, you can rest until noon tomorrow," said Adda as she reread Violet’s schedule for tomorrow, "I’ll come to pick you up at two. You have a pictorial session at four at Senorita HQ."
"That’s good enough for me," Violet replied with a faint smile, glancing at Adda by her side, "The past few days were so hectic. I could barely rest."
"That’s because you’re getting more recognized! I’m so proud of you!"
"Hehe, thank you, Adda. I’m so happy."
In the recently released drama, Violet played the third supporting female character. The female lead and the second supporting female character were established actresses, almost on par with Evelyn.
Despite being the third female supporting character, Violet received so much love from the audience. They loved her role as the quirky and tomboyish heiress.
Adda immediately drove Violet back to her apartment. Her manager, Mrs. Wei was not with them. The latter was attended an important meeting involving all the managers under XuGlam Entertainment.
’I’m so tired.’
Violet leaned against the leather seat of the executive van, her features lit softly by the passing street lights. She threw her gaze out of the window, staring at the city’s nightscape.
Violet remembered the first day she arrived at Silvercrest City with the hope of chasing her dreams of being an actress. Coming from a small town, this place was a wonder to her.
Despite the hardship, Violet persevered. She reminded herself time and again that one shouldn’t easily give up.
Fortunately, her career began to take off after years of disappointment. At the same time, a certain broody man began to court her.
Well, instead of courting, she should use the term coercing.
Closing her eyes, Violet’s mind wandered to the early days she got to know Xander.
The man was always being so pushy. She didn’t know how she suddenly piqued his interest because they rarely crossed paths with each other.
Xander wasn’t the first admirer Violet had but, he was the most persistent.
He appeared in her life one day without any warning. Unlike the others, he stormed his way through and refused to leave.
Grand romantic gestures, constantly appearing wherever she was, handling the people harboring malicious intent against her; Xander did everything.
’Do I really love him? Or, do I love the idea of him?’
The question often sneaked into Violet’s mind, leaving her guessing her own heart. Even after she finally accepted Xander’s feelings, her uncertainty remained.
Violet didn’t know the true answer.
Did her feelings come because she eventually got used to the attention he showered, despite it being quite suffocating?
Or, was it because his constant coercion-like courtship made her drained inwardly, leading her to think it was better to stop the tiring rejection cycle?
What if she really loved him but, his suffocating possessiveness overtook the good feelings she felt for him?
Violet knew she was the one holding the answer yet, her mind was so tangled with the continuous whys and what-ifs.
Ding!
The one-time ringing, alongside the vibration of her phone, startled Violet awake. Blinking, she glanced at the phone in her right arm, seeing the notification of an unread message.
The man’s nickname, Mr. X, lit up the phone screen. Frowning, Violet hesitated for a brief moment before unlocking the phone and tapping on the message.
[Mr. X: I hope the recording went well. Good night, my love]
Sighing, Violet could tell a part of her heart softened but, she quickly stifled the feeling. She locked her phone again, leaving Xander without any reply—like always as of late.
’I can’t keep this going like this. I still need to meet him.’
Violet couldn’t deny she enjoyed the freedom after demanding a break from Xander. Still, she couldn’t help but think of him.
What should she do?
