Chapter 507: Everyone Is So Envious!

Leslie wanted to know more but, Calix said Vernon simply told him to visit his home later. Knowing there was not much information, they decided to keep this until meeting Vernon.

Still hugging Leslie, Calix whispered into her ear, "I’ll continue with my work. Don’t let it bother you, sweetheart."

Calix understood full well how Leslie could be such a worrywart sometimes. She had improved recently. Still, he couldn’t help but remind her.

Nodding slightly, Leslie patted Calix’s back before pulling away from him. Her smiley eyes noticed the hint of concern on her beloved’s face.

"He isn’t worth ruining my mood," Leslie chuckled, trying to reassure Calix, "Go now, honey. I’ll just watch TV now."

"Okay."

Calix dropped a light kiss on Leslie’s forehead before walking out of the lounge. She watched him going with a helpless smile.

Perhaps, Vernon had good news to share with them.

True to her words, Leslie didn’t brood thinking about Nicholas Wu and the incident from six years ago. Her focus was on the drama.

Leaning comfortably on the bed headboard, Leslie re-watched an episode of an ongoing drama she had been following. She enjoyed the ’The Heiress’ Househusband is a Secret Billionaire’ very much.

Aside from liking the female lead’s character, she couldn’t help but think how much alike the male lead was to her husband.

Both could cook dishes, bake pastries and all, do chores, always stay fit and have multiple life skills, including being proficient in martial arts.

"This male lead is so dreamy~" mused a grinning Leslie as she concentrated on the drama, "Should I ask Calix to keep his hair long?"

Leslie was overjoyed to see how the male lead possessed long hair. He often styled it in a messy bun, adding more charm to his striking appearance.

Well, the male lead was handsome but her husband was even more heavenly ah. Nothing could be compared to him.

Soon, Leslie and Calix left the company to pick Calliope up. As expected, the little dumpling eagerly shared stories about her first day in school.

Sitting in the plush child’s car seat, Calliope narrated stories. She held a homemade granola bar in one hand, one of her go-to snacks. Aunt Wendy made lots for the little dumpling.

"Poppy sit with Linda! Poppy can call her Linlin!"

"Mama, Mama, Linlin say Mama is pretty. Linlin see Mama at the window."

"Papa, Papa, Linlin ask why Papa cry. Papa, why Papa crying ah?"

Leslie laughed in amusement while Calix poked Calliope’s cheeks, earning protest from the little one. She continued talking about her new classmates and what she ate during the break.

Soon, Calliope’s excitement changed to something else. She stopped talking about her kindergarten once they arrived at Xu International.

"Oh~ This where Papa work ah?"

"Papa, can Poppy meet Uncle Edward?"

"Poppy is hungry ah. Poppy wanna eat. Papa, where can we eat?"

Calix refrained from slapping his forehead as Calliope kept asking about food. Leslie did her best not to burst out laughing.

Calix carried Calliope on his left arm as he and Leslie headed to his office from the basement parking. Once they stepped out of the private elevator, soft gasps came from the floor.

"Boss Xu! This is really a treat!"

"We get to see Mrs. Xu and the little miss today?"

"Aww! She’s so cute!"

The staff wondered where their boss and his wife were going when they suddenly left just now. They asked Edward but, the chief assistant simply told them to continue working instead of gossiping.

The company’s internal messaging system was on fire today! The news about their CEO bringing his mysterious wife to work spread to every department.

Everyone wanted to see Mrs. Xu but, couldn’t! They would surely die of envy if they heard the secretarial department got to meet both Mrs. Xu and Little Miss Xu today.

"See? Our daughter is so cute! She follows both me and my wife ah. Our daughter is so smart too! She can solve jigsaw puzzles in five minutes!"

As if on cue, Calix started bragging about Calliope before telling her to greet the staff.

"Hello, my name is Calliope Xu. I’m five years old. Pretty sisters, you can call me Poppy."

The employees nearly squealed when the little dumpling did as she was told. They couldn’t help but gush over her cuteness.

Leslie simply let Calix boast about Calliope as much as he wanted—albeit how exaggerating he was. It was funny to see how wide his smile was.

"Everyone, back to work."

Edward’s voice echoed above the others’.

Calix’s boasting and Calliope’s chattiness stopped the employees from focusing on their work. Thus, once again the chief assistant appeared to shoo everyone back to their seats, including the CEO himself.

"Boss Xu, don’t shoot your death glare at me. I’m immune already," Edward narrowed his eyes, showing the tablet in his hands, "I have to report this to you."

"Edward, you’re really a peace breaker," Calix complained yet, there was nothing he could do aside from going back to his office.

"I’m honored to bear that role, Boss," replied Edward monotonously. He followed Calix, Leslie and Calliope from behind.

"Uncle Edward, candy!" Calliope waved her small hand, urging Edward to come closer, "Poppy has candy! Strawberry candy."

"Oh? For me? Thank you, my sweet little miss~"

The other staff watched in jealousy as they saw Calliope giving candy to Edward. The scene was cut short once all four of them disappeared into the CEO’s office.

"Wow! Papa’s office! Poppy wanna walk!"

Calliope flailed her short legs, eager to jump out of Calix’s hand. He had to put the little dumpling down if he wanted to avoid any falling accident from happening—or the incident of a dumpling rolling on the floor.

"Mama, look! The little rocks and the shells!"

As expected, Calliope was excited upon seeing the pebbles and shells displayed on the shelves. Her chatter and laughter added a merriment into the air.

Both Calix and Leslie couldn’t take their eyes off the little one. Calliope was so proud of herself as the pebbles and shells collector.

Edward also looked at the excited little Calliope. A small smile was drawn on his lips.

Aiya. He never expected to see a young child running around in his boss’ office.
