Chapter 506: Her Husband Was the Epitome of Charm

Calix did stop fooling around. Wearing the front of the CEO of Xu International, he focused on the important task for the day.

Leslie didn’t bother Calix as he worked. She made herself at home as she walked around the office, finding more little additions. Everything was related to her and Calliope.

As Leslie looked around the office, a stream of people came to meet Calix. She noticed the look of curiosity on their faces but, they knew better not to interrogate her.

Thus, Leslie simply greeted them with a light nod and a smile before returning to what she was doing. She was oblivious to how happy Calix’s subordinates were with her presence.

’Our madam is our savior!’

’Boss didn’t nag as much as usual ah!’

’I’ve never seen Boss Xu smile when pointing out the mistakes. Is this... the end of the world?’

Unlike Leslie, Calix could tell what his subordinates were thinking. They stared at his wife with beaming looks of admiration.

Tsk, they were lucky she was here today.

The executives didn’t stay long as Calix wouldn’t allow it. He quickly shooed them once their business concluded.

"Sweetheart~ What are you looking at?"

Propping his elbows on the desk, Calix cupped his own face as he smilingly stared at Leslie. Affection glimmered from his eyes, showing how lovestruck he was with her.

"Why didn’t you tell us that you displayed these here?" Leslie glanced at Calix, laughter bubbling from her lips, "Poppy will be so happy if she knows."

When Leslie approached the bookshelves, she saw other things aside from the framed photos lining them. Colorful pebbles and seashells in different shapes were displayed on acrylic tier cases.

Calliope gifted her precious collection of pebbles when Calix and Leslie visited her back in the orphanage before[01]. The seashells were from their island trip a few weeks ago[02].

A helpless smile was imbued on Calix’s lips. He liked the way Leslie was looking at him, so soft and loving.

It hadn’t changed from their first life together.

Looking from Leslie to the acrylic cases, Calix replied with a wider smile, "I thought so, but I hope she’ll see them by herself. Hehe, seems like today is the day."

Calix remembered the times he arranged the pebbles and shells before, it was done on separate occasions. He was eager to show them to Calliope but, he discarded the idea of taking photos.

Letting Calliope see them by herself was the best choice. Since then, Calix had been waiting for the chance to arrive. Luckily, his wait would end today.

"Aiya, you’re really something. Hehe, how cute."

Leslie shook her head, laughing flowing from her lips, earning a much more bigger smile than the lovestruck Calix.

"Haa... I want to play with my wife but I still have lots to do."

Calix returned to his previous posture on the chair, reluctantly tearing his eyes away from Leslie to focus on the monitor.

Arching her brows, Leslie smirked, "Continue your work ah. We’re going to pick Poppy up soon."

"Yes, ma’am."

Calix insisted to join picking Calliope up from the kindergarten instead of letting Leslie go with the bodyguards. Then, they would return to the company.

Leslie continued looking at Calix, marveling at how attractive her husband was when focusing on his work. With his sleeves rolled up to his elbows, showing his muscled arms, he was the epitome of charm.

Turning away from the bookshelves, Leslie smiled to herself. As much as she wanted to continue admiring Calix, she still resumed her little adventure.

Leslie’s next destination was Calix’s lounge. She still remembered the few times she spent there as he was busy in his workspace.

The lounge was just the same in Leslie’s memory, excluding a few additions. Calix also placed their family photos there. They lined the shelves where he displayed the crochet toys[03].

"Hehe, I mistook this little one with Mimo before."

Leslie took the red fox crochet toy from the second shelf. Smiling, she gently poked the toy’s tummy.

Whether her man was Calix or Axel, his love for crocheting remained.

Calix was so busy these days that he didn’t have time to crochet anything new. Still, he told Leslie that he wanted to make a flower garland headband for Calliope someday.

Aiya, the little one would be so spoiled by her papa.

Staring at the fox, Leslie called Mimo telepathically.

’Mimo, you’ll always be the cutest fox for me.’

As always, Mimo quickly replied to her.

|Of course! I’m well beloved ah! Poppy loves me so much!|

’Hehe, I love you too.’

Mimo’s squeal earned chuckles from Leslie. Her heart bloomed with happiness as she recalled the last few months.

If not for Mimo, Leslie knew she would be clueless about how to look for Calliope.

Leslie wouldn’t deny that sometimes she was frustrated because Mimo couldn’t reveal everything directly to her. Yet, she reminded herself to be grateful for its guidance so far.

Eventually, happiness returned to her a thousandfold.

Putting the fox back on the shelf, Leslie headed to the other areas next. She admired the photos decorating the lounge, including the ones taken during their chocolate museum trip.

’That day...’

Who knew she would meet Nicholas Wu on that day?

That man thought he could lurk around them without being caught. It was too bad he was mistaken gravely.

’This month. I hope everything ends before the banquet.’

Andrian and Harper’s anniversary banquet was scheduled at the end of this month. Leslie prayed that Nicholas Wu would exit their life soon.

She didn’t want him to overstay his welcome.

"Leslie."

Calix’s sudden appearance caught Leslie’s attention. Turning around, her eyes collided with his. She unconsciously arched her brows at the sight of his tensed look.

"Why, Calix?"

Leslie felt her heart suspended for a moment before it beat rapidly against her chest. Because she thought of Nicholas just now, she couldn’t help but think if Calix appeared because of him.

Did something go wrong?

Their Poppy was safe, right?

Calix hurriedly rushed to Leslie, noticing how her initially cheery look sank into a somber one.

Pulling Leslie into his embrace, Calix calmly explained, "My brother told us to go to his house later. He wants to talk about that incident six years ago."

Wide-eyed in surprise, Leslie blankly stared at Calix.

Did Vernon find out something?
