Chapter 508: Love You the Most
Calliope wasn’t left hungry for too long. Two cafeteria staff came to deliver lunch to Calix’s office. Delicious fragrant wafted in the air, coming from the three-tiered food trolley.
Calliope and Leslie sat at the table by the floor-to-length window while Calix still listened to Edward’s report. The little dumpling’s eyes flickered with stars at the sight of the food.
"Wow~ They look so yummy! Thank you, misters."
Calliope happily thanked the cafeteria staff after the two men served the food on the table. They smilingly returned the greeting to her and also to Leslie before leaving the office.
Edward closed the tablet, glancing from Calix to Leslie and Calliope, "Lunch time. I won’t bother you until later, Boss. Enjoy your meal."
"You better not," Calix shot a look at Edward. Rising to his feet, he strode to Leslie and Calliope, "Off you go now. Shoo."
"To my pleasure."
Edward waved at the grinning Calliope before spinning on his heels, walking out of the office. He left the family of three to enjoy their lunchtime.
"Didn’t you eat with your friends already?" Calix teasingly asked Calliope as he took a seat opposite Leslie, "My dear buttercup, is there still any room for food in your tummy?"
"Of course!" Calliope quickly replied, patting her stomach repeatedly, "Poppy is hungry ah. Poppy need food."
Laughing faintly, Leslie pushed the rice bowl closer to Calliope, "Eat properly, my darling. We have your favorite dishes here. Want this honey chicken?"
"Yes! Thank you, Mama~"
A happy Calliope chirped to Leslie and Calix’s amusement. The family of three began eating.
The afternoon of Silvercrest City was bright. The dazzling sunlight cast its light and warmth all over the city, also filtering through the floor-to-ceiling windows.
One hour later, a full Calliope leaned on her mama, her tummy bloated from all the food she ate. In her drowsiness, she licked her lips before muttering how delicious the food was.
Leslie and Calliope sat on the couch in the seating area after having lunch. Calix had just ended a phone call with one of his subordinates.
"Want me to move her to the lounge?" asked Calix, his tone hinting at laughter as he looked at the sleepyheaded Calliope, "Why don’t you take a nap too, sweetheart?"
Calix had already told Calliope that they would visit Amelia’s home this evening. This would be the little one and Leslie’s first visit there.
As expected, Calliope’s excitement rose at the thought of meeting her favorite cousin. She couldn’t wait to tell Amelia about her first day in the kindergarten.
"I’ll do that soon," Leslie nodded, also feeling a little sleepy. Grinning at Calix, she looked from him to Calliope, "Then, do your papa duty, honey."
Chuckles slipped out of Calix’s lips. Bending down, he carefully carried Calliope up, letting the little one lean her head on his chest.
Leslie followed Calix by his side as they headed to the lounge. The man put the drowsy Calliope on the bed before looking at his wife.
"Have you checked the closet, sweetheart? I’ve put some clothes for you and Poppy. She might wanna take a shower and change later."
Calix gestured at the tall two-door closet on one side of the lounge. Arching her brows, Leslie’s eyes flickered with curiosity.
"Oh, I haven’t."
Leslie walked toward the closet, intrigued by Calix’s words. Holding the knobs, she slowly opened the closet door. Her eyes widened slightly in surprise.
"Calix..."
Leslie was amazed by the colorful array of women’s and children’s dresses, blouses and pants hanging inside the closet. They took over more than half of the wardrobe, leaving the other space for men’s clothes.
Smiling, Calix left the bed, heading to Leslie’s side. He put one arm around her waist, his eyes softening as he took in the stunned look on her face.
"Just in case you and Poppy come here and need the clothes," Calix chuckled. His light tone expressed his joy, "I’ll change them based on the seasons."
Leslie had no words to say. She couldn’t help but wonder how long had Calix kept these clothes in this closet, waiting for the day she and Calliope visited him at work.
"The towel and whatnot are in the washroom. So, you can even stay the night here," Calix raised his brows, teasing Leslie, "What do you say, sweetheart? Sleeping in the CEO’s office. Not everyone can do that ah."
"Hahaha!"
Leslie playfully slapped Calix’s chest, earning chuckles from him. Standing on her tip-toe, she pressed her lips on his, leaving a light kiss.
"Thank you, CEO Xu. Who knows, I’ll take up the offer someday."
Helpless laughter escaped Calix’s mouth. Dipping his head in, he captured Leslie’s lips. The lovebirds fooled around for a moment until a certain dumpling’s sleep-talk startled them.
"Enough ah, time to work."
"Okay..."
Leslie shooed Calix out of the lounge, reminding him that he still had work to do. The man reluctantly left. As usual, he stole a few more kisses from his wife before he finally left.
Leslie read a book as she accompanied Calliope on the bed. She eventually dozed off, leading her to take a nap with her adorable daughter by her side.
The mother and daughter napped together.
As told by Calix earlier, Leslie let Calliope take a shower after she woke up. The little dumpling happily picked among the many clothes her papa kept for her in the closet.
"Mama, so many toys. That one look like Mimo ah."
Calliope pointed out to the display of crochet toys as Leslie combed her hair on the bed. The little dumpling smelled sweet and fresh from the body wash.
Calliope was already used to crochet toys made by Calix but, she was still amazed by them whenever she saw the toys.
"Hehe, Mama thinks the same too," Leslie sang the same tune, sharing her own thoughts, "Still, Poppy loves Mimo the most, right?"
"Yes~ Poppy love Mimo the most! Poppy love Mama and Papa too~"
Laughter bubbling from her lips, Calliope hugged Leslie, her whole face beaming.
"Mama and Papa love Poppy too," Leslie chuckled as she cradled Calliope on her lap, "Always."
Always and forever.
