Chapter 505: Feeding the Single Dogs So Early Morning
Seeing that the staff’s attention on her wouldn’t easily move away, Leslie greeted the ones in the secretarial department. They worked on the same floor as Calix.
"Good morning," Leslie smilingly greeted them, followed by introducing herself, "I’m Charlene Xu. It’s a pleasure to meet all of you here."
Elated gasps came from a few staff while the others returned the greeting, all warm and welcoming. They were beaming with excitement.
"Good morning, Mrs. Xu!"
"It’s nice to see you! Hehe, Boss Xu has been boasting about you."
"Mrs. Xu, Mr. Zhang bragged about how kind and beautiful you are. We’re glad to finally meet you here."
"Mrs. Xu, seems like you’ve recovered well. Good, good."
The employees’ excitement and barrage of greetings caught Leslie off guard but, in a good way. Calix remained standing by her side, their arms linking. His whole face glowed with pride.
"See? I’ve told you my wife is a beauty, right?"
Leslie’s cheeks flushed red, wondering what kind of thing this man had told the staff about her before. Calix’s teasing remarks were met with playful protests by his subordinates.
"Oh, Boss Xu, don’t feed us dog food this early morning ah."
"I need my man to hype me like this. If not, cancel!"
"Now I can’t wait to see our little miss!"
"Boss, why don’t you bring our madam out for a date today? You can just dump your work on Mr. Zhang. The weather is so good outside."
"Ahem!"
Edward appeared right on time he was being mentioned. His narrowed eyes looked from Calix to the staff in the secretarial department, looking displeased.
"Sorry, I won’t take up the extra workload because our boss wanna go on a date," Edward raised his brows, staring pointedly at Calix, "Please make way to your office, my dear boss."
"Save the dear part for yourself," Calix retorted, shooting a look at Edward before he turned to Leslie, all smiling, "Come, sweetheart. Ignore this grumpy one."
Leslie shook her head in helplessness. She greeted Edward to which the young man returned the same. She nodded and smiled at the other staff before following Calix.
"Oh... I think there are changes."
Leslie blurted out once she stepped inside Calix’s office, a spacious and modern workspace. The place looked slightly different since her last visit months ago.
"Hehe, go and look at them," Calix happily encouraged Leslie to tour the office. He squeezed her waist, gesturing in a direction, "That’s my Hall of Fame."
Leslie’s eyes wandered to a corner of the room, more specifically at the wall on the right side near Calix’s huge work desk. A few frames were hung there, giving off familiar silhouettes.
"Oh!"
Walking slowly toward the corner, Leslie realized the framed photos showed their family of three. Most were hung on the wall while a few were propped up on Calix’s desk.
The photos showed them playing at the lake and also during their beach trip. Every picture expressed the warmth and loving ambiance between them.
"Honey! You’ve turned this place into a family gallery!" Leslie exclaimed, teasing Calix with soft laughter. Looking at him, she chuckled at the sight of his proud look.
"Well~ I need to remind myself I have two mouths to feed," Calix shrugged, arching his brows with a playful smirk, "And, who knows? I might have more later."
Calix began decorating the office with Leslie and Calliope’s photos around one month ago, shortly after the announcement about their existence in his life.
A few of the senior executives saw the pictures when they came to his office yet, they knew not to make any sound about it.
"Hahaha! Yes! You need to work harder! Your wife and daughter are foodies. If Poppy’s future siblings are the same~ Hehe, just imagine that."
Leslie playfully slapped Calix’s chest, her chest vibrating from her laughter. Calix quickly caught her hand, bringing her knuckles close to his lips.
"Before that, I need to work hard at the office, and..." Calix leaned closer, whispering into Leslie’s ear, his voice low and seductive, "...also in bed."
Blinking, Leslie pouted, pushing her hand on Calix’s chest. He erupted into laughter as he saw the shy look on his lovely wife’s face.
"What? I’m telling the truth," Calix winked, happily teasing Leslie. Pulling her by the waist, he dropped light kisses on her face, "I can’t wait for that day, my love."
Leslie’s pout melted into a smile. She remembered the night they talked about having more children in the future. Thinking about it made her heart flutter.
"I’m the same, honey."
Before that, Leslie knew she needed to get even more healthier than now. Dr. Mo did tell her that she could resume having intercourse with her husband but, the doctor discouraged her from trying to have a baby yet.
"Hehe, enough ah. Time for you to work," Leslie wriggled free from Calix, her eyes wandering to the door, "I think Edward’s waiting for you. He’s being gracious enough not to walk inside yet."
Leslie saw a faint silhouette of a man outside. From how familiar he looked, it was Edward without any doubt.
Calix shrugged, unbothered by Edward waiting for him.
"Well, he’s a single dog. He just doesn’t want his heart to bleed because of—Ouch!"
Calix cried out when Leslie pinched his arm. Scoffing, she threatened when he tried putting on a sad puppy look.
"Get to your seat!"
"Yes, ma’am."
Calix straightened his back, seemingly trying to stop messing around. Leslie smiled in helplessness as she watched him walk to the desk. Her eyes returned to the wall.
But...
Calix swiftly backtracked when Leslie wasn’t looking. Seizing her chin, he left a quick kiss on her lips, catching her off guard.
"Calix!"
"Hahaha!"
Calix jumped backward before Leslie could do anything. Smirking at his beloved wife, mischief flickering in his eyes.
Leslie was at a loss for words. Her lips trembled before laughter escaped from her mouth. Shooting Calix a playful glare, she walked away from the wall, intending to look around the office by herself.
