Chapter 504: A Grand Entrance?

After sending Calliope to kindergarten, Calix and Leslie headed to Xu International. It would be the lady’s first time going there after close to four months.

A group of bodyguards was left within the kindergarten’s vicinity. They hid their presence instead of announcing it to the world, protecting Calliope through the shadows.

Despite the elite kindergarten having a good security measure, Calix thought it was better to be more careful.

"Are you still crying?"

Grinning, Leslie poked Calix’s cheek. Chuckles slipped from her lips as she noticed the faint redness in her husband’s eyes.

Calix rolled his eyes, knowing that Leslie enjoyed teasing him. As she giggled, his lips curled into a smile.

"I wonder what will Poppy tell us later," Calix laughed helplessly, thinking of the little dumpling in the kindergarten, "How many friends she has made and what did she eat, perhaps."

"Hehe~ Most likely."

Calix and Leslie would pick Calliope up from kindergarten together later before returning to the company. They planned to dine in a restaurant for dinner tonight.

The little dumpling voiced her desire to go to where her papa worked once she heard her mama would be there today.

As always, the daughter’s fool Calix easily agreed to Calliope’s wish.

"Oh! We’re almost there!"

Leslie excitedly looked out the windows as the executive van sped past the main gate of the Xu International compound.

Familiar high-rise buildings including the surrounding facilities entered Leslie’s line of sight. She still remembered going on a solo yet fun adventure here back when she was still a soul.

Wow!

She didn’t expect so much time had pass!

Immersed in her excitement, Leslie didn’t notice how Calix was staring at her. The man was amused at the sight of his wife being so giddy. She didn’t look away from the window at all.

’Oh, I should say this ah.’

An idea crossed the man’s mind. One that could certainly rile his beloved wife up, not in a good way.

Arching his brows, Calix asked with a smirk on his lips, "Sweetheart, how about we make a grand entrance at the main lobby? What do you say?"

"No!" Leslie quickly turned around, "You’re going to parade me, don’t you? Go and make a grand entrance alone yourself."

Horrified, Leslie repeatedly shook her head. It was so obvious what Calix had in mind.

She used to joke about how male leads in dramas appeared in the lobby with a long line of subordinates behind, not including the ones waiting for him.

If the female leads were there, without a doubt they would be the hottest gossip among the employees.

Well... haha, Leslie was aware she might be the source of gossip by appearing at the company with Calix today. But, it didn’t mean she planned to show herself in the main lobby like in the drama.

More chuckles escaped Calix’s lips, pleased to know that his plan to annoy Leslie succeeded. Reaching out a hand, he poked the tip of her nose.

"Your main aim is the cafeteria, right? Don’t think I don’t know ah. You plan to devour everything there."

Narrowing her eyes, Leslie stared at Calix deadpan, "I don’t have a bottomless tummy. I just have a separate one for desserts."

Calix blinked, not expecting the last sentence from Leslie. Unable to hold himself, he burst out laughing. The sound bounced off the walls of the vehicle.

"Hahaha! Like mom, like daughter ah! Poppy said the same thing before too."

Shooting a look at Calix, Leslie harrumphed. She crossed both arms over her chest, looking away from him.

"Aww~ Don’t be mad, sweetheart. I’m just joking."

Calix scooted closer to Leslie, deliberately reaching out his hand to tickle her chin. She quickly slapped his hand away.

"I’m not a cat!"

Leslie growled, once again shooting daggers at Calix through her eyes. But, the man didn’t give up easily.

"But, you’re as cute as one!"

"I know I’m cute but, I’m not a cat!"

"Hahaha!"

The single dog Logan glanced at the rearview mirror, staring at the lovey-dovey pair of husband and wife. His gaze was full of sadness, lamenting his own fate.

Haa... They acted as if there was no other person inside the van.

He was happy to see his boss enjoying his married life but...

He was also sad for not having a partner himself.

Sob.

Both Calix and Leslie were oblivious to what was going on in Logan’s mind. They continued bantering in the backseat until the latter pulled up in the basement.

"Boss Xu, Mrs. Xu, we’re here."

Pushing Calix who tried to tickle her, Leslie looked out of the windows. Logan stopped the van near the entrance to the basement lobby. Two bodyguards stood at both sides of the entrance.

Leslie still remembered this place. They just needed to walk past the sliding door of the entrance before meeting the elevators, including the one exclusively for Calix.

"Seems like I’ve to delay the grand entrance for next time," Calix chuckled, still teasing Leslie, "Maybe when Poppy tags along. What do you think, sweetheart?"

Snapping her head around, Leslie glared at Calix, "You do it yourself."

"Hahaha!"

Calix emerged from the van, offering his hand to Leslie. He continued laughing as he received more of his wife’s annoyed yet adorable glare.

"Shall we go now, sweetheart?"

"Of course. I’ll supervise your work today. Hmph!"

"Hahaha! You can supervise me all you want."

Grasping Leslie’s hand in his palm, Calix led her to the private elevator. Merry laughter still echoed from the man, signaling how great his mood today was.

The time had struck eight-thirty. Most staff had clocked in already. Some strayed away from their cubicles, either still being in the cafeteria or gathering with colleagues for a meeting.

When the husband and wife reached the floor of Calix’s office, their appearance—especially Leslie’s—instantly attracted their attention.

Hushed whispers quickly took over the generally quiet floor.

"Who’s the lady beside our boss?"

"Our madam, right?"

"Wow! Boss Xu came to work with Mrs. Xu!"

Leslie flinched, her smile stiffened as she paused beside Calix. Most of the staff didn’t hide how obviously they were looking at her.

Uh oh...

Thank goodness she didn’t make the grand entrance in the lobby.
