Chapter 473: The Little Dumpling Waking Up for the Morning

A certain little dumpling woke up right before dawn. Rubbing her sleepy eyes with her tiny hands, she let out a couple of yawns. Her long hair was messily tangled while some stuck to her chubby face.

"Morning, Mimo... Me so sleepy ah..."

Rolling to the other side of the bed, Calliope hugged Mimo tightly. Despite still being sleepy, she was in a happy mood because she dreamed of something fun last night.

The little dumpling dreamed of her mama, her papa and Mimo playing together at the beach. They could do that once her parents returned this morning.

Yay!

Calliope still remembered that Calix and Leslie went somewhere last night. Aunt Wendy and Uncle Raymond did a good job of distracting the little one from feeling downhearted.

Despite being sad, Calliope actually anticipated seeing her mama and papa this morning. She wanted to tell them what she dreamed of last night.

Calliope went to bed alone last night despite Aunt Wendy offering to accompany the little one. Uncle Raymond also joked of giving his sleeping spot to Calliope while he slept elsewhere.

"Poppy is a big girl! Poppy will sleep with Mimo ah. Grandpa Raymond, don’t go to other room ah."

Calliope announced she would sleep with Mimo by her side. Aunt Wendy and Uncle Raymond didn’t fuss over her choice as they respected her choice.

Still, the pair of husband and wife read a few bedtime stories for Calliope before the little dumpling eventually drifted to the slumberland.

"Mimo! Let’s roll!"

Suddenly energetic, Calliope rolled on the huge mattress. She continued doing so under the blanket a few more times, causing the cover to tangle with her small body.

Once she was bored, she finally slid out of the blanket.

"I will go brush my teeth, wash my face and shower like a good girl," Calliope announced to Mimo. Despite receiving no response, she kept talking, "Must smell good ah."

Calliope was adept at making sure her surroundings and herself were clean and neat, thanks to the early training and discipline implemented by the orphanage.

Despite having a small figure and short limbs, Calliope folded the blanket carefully before smoothening the bedsheet. She also didn’t forget to plump the pillows.

Calliope’s eyes saw perfection in the completion of her tasks. The few creases left on the bedsheet and the blanket were disguised from her sight.

Well, there was nothing much she could do ah. The big was wayyy bigger than her body.

"Mimo, later!"

Spinning around on her heels, Calliope ran deng deng deng toward the washroom. She didn’t see the current hour displayed on the clock, six-thirty.

Fifteen minutes later, Calliope emerged from the washroom with a cute pink bathrobe providing her warmth. She kept her hair in a huge shower cap, unwilling to let the shower water wet the strands.

Standing opposite the small wardrobe catering to her height, Calliope pointed to the clothes while singing, "Eeny, meeny, miny, moe~ Oh! A yellow and green one!"

Several outfits had been hung together for Calliope to choose from. Her little finger ended up pointing to a sleeveless shirt and a pair of shorts.

A pastel yellow shirt with a few white daisy embroideries was paired with loose shorts in the color light green. Even though the outfit wasn’t in the color pink, the little dumpling still liked it.

Knock! Knock!

"Miss Poppy, good morning~"

Aunt Wendy came to check on Calliope when the little one had just slipped into the shirt. A fond smile was carved on the middle-aged lady’s lips upon seeing the adorable little girl.

"Wow~ You’ve showered and dressed yourself, en? That’s admirable!"

"Hehehe~" Calliope chuckled, her lips forming a huge grin, "Poppy smells good already ah. Oh! Good morning too, Granny Wendy~"

"Want me to do your hair?" asked Aunt Wendy, noticing the little one’s long hair was still messy.

"Yes, please~ Thank you!"

Picking up the hair brush, Aunt Wendy carefully combed through Calliope’s hair. The little one sat opposite the vanity mirror while wondering about her mama and papa.

"Granny Wendy," Calliope stared at Aunt Wendy’s reflection in the mirror, "Mama and Papa are back already?"

The older lady glanced at the clock, seeing the hour was shy away from seven in the morning.

Aunt Wendy received a message from Calix right before she went upstairs to wake Calliope up. He mentioned they would return before breakfast time, approximately in half an hour.

"Your mama and papa will return soon. They want to have breakfast with you, Miss Poppy."

Aunt Wendy’s statement widened the smile on Calliope’s little face. She couldn’t wait to meet her parents and have breakfast with them.

Aunt Wendy parted Calliope’s hair into two sections before twisting them into double buns. She inserted one yellow flower clip for each bun.

"You look lovelier now," Aunt Wendy gently squeezed Calliope’s shoulders, sensing her heart melt under the little dumpling’s cuteness.

"Hehe~ Thank you, Granny Wendy~"

Calliope grabbed Mimo from the bed before following Aunt Wendy out of the bedroom. She wanted to wait for her parents downstairs, unable to contain her excitement.

"Oh, there you are, our little princess Poppy," Uncle Raymond appeared in the hallway leading to the lounge. He gestured at the phone in his hand, "Your great-grandmother called you. Should I return her call?"

"Great-Grandma? Yes!"

Old Madam Xu called the villa’s number just now, asking whether Calliope had woken up or not. She knew her grandson Calix and her granddaughter-in-law Leslie stayed elsewhere last night.

As soon as Calliope sat on her favorite pillow on the carpeted floor, Uncle Raymond placed the phone on the table. He made a video call to Old Madam Xu before leaving the little dumpling alone in the lounge.

The elderly lady’s face was displayed on the screen within a few seconds, luring delighted chuckles from Calliope.

"Great-Grandma! Poppy missed Great-Grandma so much!"

Old Madam Xu waved at Calliope, evidently happy to see one of her great-grandchildren.

"My sweet Poppy, did you sleep well last night? Are you waiting for your mom and dad?"

"Yes~" Calliope nodded her tiny head, resembling a little chick pecking grains, "Granny Wendy said Mama and Papa will eat breakfast with Poppy."

The little Calliope didn’t understand the sly grin curling on Old Madam Xu’s face.

At the same time, Calix and Leslie wouldn’t expect to receive a tricky question from their daughter soon, all thanks to the elderly lady.
