After like an eternity to Calix, the business trip wrapped successfully on the fourth day. Instead of spending another night at the hotel to replenish his energy, he and his entourage rushed to the airport.

The private jet was scheduled to fly around nine in the evening Switzerland time. The entourage might arrive in the country at five in the evening China time.

Calix only sent a message to Leslie. He was aware that she and Calliope were still sleeping. The sun wouldn’t rise for a few more hours back in Silvercrest City.

"Haaa! I can’t wait to laze around this weekend."

"Boss Xu, I’ll work from home this Monday, okay?"

"I think our CEO will do that too ah. He has been missing his wife and daughter."

Calix responded to his subordinates’ remark with a glare, earning a collective of laughter from the men. All of them had safely boarded the private jet.

"Do whatever you guys wanna do. Don’t disturb me ah."

"Boss Xu, how about your dinner?" asked one of the older men.

"Later. You guys eat first."

Spinning on his heels, Calix strode to his private chamber on this flight. Despite being hungry, he wanted to wash himself first. It had been a long and tiring day.

Calix slowly unfastened the button of his dress shirt, lines of exhaustion marring his face. He dragged himself inside the washroom, hoping to get some sleep as soon as he finished showering.

Standing under the showerhead, Calix let himself lose in his thoughts.

Instead of thinking about the success of the business trip, his mind wandered to the few times he got to chat on the phone with Leslie and Calliope.

His wife and daughter weren’t too bored staying at home. His family, including his busy younger sister, paid them a visit yesterday.

"Papa! Poppy play so much with Mia!"

Calliope happily told Calix everything she played with Amelia. His niece was on summer break like everyone else. Only the daycare service of her kindergarten operated during this holiday.

Amelia spent most of her time with Vernon because Lucille was busy with work. Sometimes, the man brought his daughter to the Xu family’s ancestral home.

’So many things happened ah.’

Leslie relayed to Calix that Old Madam Li and Geoffrey tried to enter Mapleview Hills. Luck was not on the vengeful mother and son’s side because their entry was completely barred.

The Li household and its company were in chaos now. The panicked shareholders demanded Geoffrey to step down before cooperating with the authorities.

Charges upon charges were thrown their way, including the ones related to Calliope’s abandonment years ago.

The Li family cruelly abandoned the helpless baby!

The child was rumored to be linked to the Xu family’s heir!

Did this mean the child was born between CEO Calix Xu and his new bride from the Li family?

Were they together before?

Various questions arose regarding Leslie and Calliope as expected.

’At least, something good came out of it.’

Calix stepped out of the shower area. While drying his body with a towel, he recalled what Mr. Wei had just delivered to Leslie yesterday. It was related to Rowan and Bianca.

The pair had stopped struggling to get Leslie to overturn her decision. It seemed like they had lost all energy in this fight.

Both Leslie and Calix didn’t care about them. Their focus was only on Irene who was now leisurely enjoying her summer break with her friends in Sicily.

Knowing Irene was far away from this mess relieved Leslie and Calix. According to the original plan, the teenager would only return after two weeks.

Rowan’s attorney sent Mr. Wei the confirmation of erasing Leslie’s legal name—Charlene Li—from the family registry. The letter arrived before Edward released a statement on behalf of Calix.

Calix didn’t explain the details of his relationship with Leslie. He simply mentioned they were in love before separating due to differences in values.

Because of the car accident that happened shortly, Calix’s attention was on his recovery. He also didn’t try contacting Leslie after she left the city without news.

It turned out, Leslie was pregnant with their child and she was forcibly separated from the baby after her birth. The matter only came to light recently.

[My wife and I have decided to distance ourselves from the source of this heartbreak. We will keep our child safe and sound. We have already lost so many years together.]

Calix also emphasized how the Xu family was no longer related to the Li family as in-laws. Everyone learned not to be deceived by Geoffrey even if he tried using Calix’s name to get the much needed assistance.

’Let them sink further. They have it coming.’

Sneering, a cold glint flickered in Calix’s dark eyes. He quietly walked out of the washroom, the white towel hanging low around his tapered waist. The remaining droplets slid further down, disappearing at the towel edge.

Calix picked a pair of loose khaki pants and a long-sleeved sweater. Throwing himself on the bed, his eyes landed on the familiar red crochet fox toy. It was lying by the pillow.

The sight of Mimo made Calix frown. Extending his right hand, he grabbed the fox toy before bringing it closer to himself.

"Didn’t Poppy get this by incident? This toy was with her when she drowned before[01]."

Calix threw everything regarding the Li family to the back of his mind. His brows furrowing, he intently scanned Mimo from its pointy ears down to its long tail.

On the first and second night, Calix slept without dreaming of anything. He was utterly shocked when the man and the woman returned to his dream last night.

He dreamed of them even without Leslie and Calliope sleeping by his side!

Calix woke up with questions lingering in his mind. In his confusion, his eyes were drawn to the crochet toy. Mimo was sitting on the bedside table of his hotel bed.

As if something clicked in him, Calix recalled the crochet fox toy was together with him, Leslie and Calliope during the nights he dreamed of the couple.

And...

The dream from last night was something Calix had never had before.
