Chapter 434: I Need My Cuddly Bear Back to Me
"Haa... I do intend to seduce you ah, sweetheart. Why did you openly out me like that?"
As she watched Calix’s face blushing on the screen, laughter escaped Leslie’s lips. She slowly sat on the nearby chair, her eyes were still on him.
The cool morning breeze gently brushed past Leslie as the gold lights of the dawn skyline illuminated her frame.
The camera of her phone perfectly captured the faint blush on Calix’s cheeks. His eyelids drooped slightly, perhaps due to his exhaustion from being busy the entire day.
Well, he indeed looked more seductive than usual now. Messy hair, half-opened eyes, a lazy smile and the display of his upper chest. She especially loved the shy look in his droopy eyes.
His bashful countenance was an adorable contrast to his devilish vibe.
"Hehe, it’s good to be honest but, button up ah. What if you catch a cold?"
Calid replied dejectedly, "Okay..."
Leslie continued laughing when Calix tried to button his shirt with only one hand because he didn’t want to let go of the phone. She was glad to wake up to his messages first thing in the morning.
He was going to bed while she had just started a brand new day.
"What did you do today?" asked Leslie, her voice mirroring the smile on her lips, "Did you get to eat well at least?"
Leslie got to talk to Calix a little yesterday afternoon, right after he woke up in the morning in Zurich. Throughout the entire day, he occasionally texted her but, was unable to chat on the phone due to his busy schedule.
Now that they were on a call, Leslie wished to hear about Calix’s day before shooing him to bed. She still remembered him saying he had to go out early tomorrow morning.
Calix’s sleepy eyes sparkled, happy knowing Leslie was interested to hear about his day.
"I ate well, I think? Hehe, our business partner brought me to..."
Leslie attentively listened to Calix narrating his activities. She loved it when he simplified what he had done whenever he brought up his work just to let her understand.
Calix’s familiar mellow voice had a hint of sleepiness in it yet, Leslie also caught the trace of eagerness. She knew he also enjoyed the little time they could share in between his current hectic schedule, including the huge difference in time zones.
Eventually, Calix finished telling his story to Leslie. He was still standing on the balcony of his hotel suite. The tiny sparkles on the rippling surface of the lake were reflected in his eyes.
"I’ll fly home the day after tomorrow," Calix’s smile deepened. Raising one brow, he said teasingly, "I can’t wait to hug my wife and daughter ah. Sweetheart, it sucks sleeping alone. The bed is so huge."
Understanding what Calix was hinting at, Leslie sensed faint heat emanating from her cheeks. They had just started sleeping—in the literal sense—together but, she also missed her warm cuddly bear.
Smiling shyly, Leslie replied to Calix, "Just say that you miss hugging me when sleeping. So, come back quickly, en? I need my cuddly bear back too."
"Hahaha! Aye aye, ma’am!"
Leslie urged Calix to have a warm shower before heading to bed. As it was already midnight in Zurich, the man only had a few hours to spare for resting.
"Talk to you again later, honey," Leslie waved at Calix, her eyes and lips smiling, "Don’t skip on eating, okay?"
"Okay. Enjoy the day, sweetheart. Tell Poppy I miss her. Bye."
Leslie nodded once before reluctantly hanging up. She continued sitting on the balcony, letting the morning summer sun shower her under its lights. Her eyes were still glued to the phone screen.
"The nightview is so pretty."
Sighing in wonder, Leslie looked at the photos Calix sent her earlier. Each one of them seemed to have a magical ability to charm her.
"Hehe, Poppy will love to see these photos."
Leslie threw her gaze to the skyline. The mesmerizing light was reflected on her smiley face. She stayed on the balcony for a few minutes longer before returning inside the room.
"Oh~ Poppy is still sleeping."
Leslie slowly walked by relying on the cane. She smiled at the sight of Calliope lying on her stomach. The little dumpling’s long hair sprawled in every direction possible.
Lowering herself on the mattress, Leslie quietly patted Calliope’s back before her eyes traveled to the powder blue bedroom. She decided to sleep in Calix’s room last night, leading the little one to come along.
Leslie chuckled as she thought of her impulsive action last night. Well, it might be sudden but, she only proceeded with it because she knew Calix would be happy with her action.
Leslie’s eyes returned to Calliope. Her smile drooped a little as she remembered one of her thoughts from yesterday.
’If only Poppy knows she’s reunited with her father. But...’
Leslie didn’t know how or when Calix would regain his memories as Axel. Once it happened, she would fill him in about the time she was pregnant with Calliope and how their life was as a family of two.
Calix deserved to know. After all, Calliope was his daughter.
Back in their previous life, Leslie remembered how often Axel would talk about having a child together. He wished for them to build a family of their own.
She came from a broken family and he never knew his. As their dreams were aligned, they simply waited for the days to come.
Unfortunately, Axel met his demise before even learning about Leslie carrying Calliope in her womb. He never got to know about the blessed arrival of their child.
’The past is the past. I will live happily with Calix and Calliope this time around.’
Axel had been living as Calix for the past six years in this new world. Leslie wouldn’t address him with his previous name unless the man himself wanted it.
One thing was for sure. She ended up falling for him again.
Shaking her head in helplessness, Leslie inwardly laughed at the remaining mess within her. She needed Calix to return safely just so she could hug him all she desired.
