Chapter 406: Please Guide Me, Hubby~

Leslie had an enjoyable time being in the lake. Even though she couldn’t swim yet, the buoyancy of the water reduced the usual strain on her legs, allowing her to spend more time there than expected.

’Feels so fresh.’

Leslie slowly waded through the water, appreciating the coolness under the scorching heat of the summer sun. Her hair was wet from the splashes done by Calix, Calliope and Evelyn as they played earlier.

"Mama~ Throw at Poppy!"

Calliope cutely called for Leslie. Laughing softly, the lady’s eyes fell on the bright ball floating on the lake after being tossed by Calix.

"Poppy, take it!"

Grabbing the ball, Leslie gently threw it at Calliope.

"Yay! Little Aunt, next!"

Calliope caught the ball before hurling it to Evelyn. Her merry laughter resonated across the vast lake. The young lady swiftly snagged the ball using both hands.

"Take it back!"

"Hahaha!"

As Calliope and Evelyn focused on themselves, Calix turned to look at Leslie on his right side. There was only a mere distance separating them.

Wading through the water, he approached his wife. He naturally placed his broad palm on her back, just like his usual actions.

"Wanna go up?" asked Calix. Leslie stayed in the lake longer than he predicted.

Shaking her head, Leslie curled up her lips into a smile. Her eyes drifted from Calliope to Calix, "It’s bearable. Maybe I’ll go up in ten minutes."

Even though Leslie felt less strained compared to walking on the land, she still couldn’t spend more time than necessary in the lake.

Everything should be done in moderation, abiding by the current physical state of her body.

Calix’s smile softened. He was glad to see Leslie enjoying her time in the water. She even played splashes with them aside from the ball throwing.

"Wanna go there?" Calix gestured toward the middle section of the lake, "I can support you if you’re worried about swimming."

Blinking, Leslie’s eyes lit up in anticipation. The tiny glitters on the lake’s surface entranced her. She really couldn’t resist exploring more of the lake. Calix’s invitation fueled more into her excitement.

"Can I?"

Still, Leslie couldn’t help but worry. Tearing her eyes away from Calix, she glanced at where Calliope and Evelyn were playing. The little one and the actress seemed to be lost in their own world.

"You can," Calix playfully winked. He stepped closer to Leslie while tightening his arm around her waist, "The water over there should reach your chest. You can still walk."

Chuckles slipped out between Leslie’s lips. Nodding her head once, she held one of Calix’s hands.

"Okay~ Please guide me there, hubby."

Calix raised his brows, pretending to act smugly. Leslie continued laughing. The husband and wife slowly wade through the water, heading further away from the shallow parts of the lake.

The water gently caressed them as Calix and Leslie waded through the lake, their bare feet touching the muddy ground beneath the surface. The cool and refreshing water felt pleasant against their skin warmed by the sun.

"Careful. The stones are slippery," uttered Calix as his feet stepped on the submerged smooth stones, "There are twigs too."

"Hehe, it feels weird sometimes... The ground is so slimy."

Leslie stayed close to Calix as he supported her waist and held one of her hands. Her shoulders and back occasionally grazed his chest as he walked slightly behind her.

Calix and Leslie finally stopped a distance away from the lakebank. As mentioned by him before, the water reached her chest. The gentle waves lapped around their figures.

Taking her hand away from Calix’s grasp, Leslie spread her palms together before submerging them. She chuckled as she watched the swaying of lights and shadows through the water.

"I wanna feel the seawater next."

Leslie’s words earned laughter from Calix. Patting her back, he replied, "You’ll get to feel it soon. Just a little more, en?"

"Hehe, okay~"

Leslie still remembered Calix’s promise to bring her and Calliope to the beach. Or to be exact, to the Xu family’s private island. He always emphasized how majestic the surrounding sea was.

Calix quietly looked at Leslie’s side profile. Her sparkling eyes continued looking into the lake despite not having many attractions.

Another smile hung on his lips as he witnessed how happy she was. The glow radiated from her countenance was more enchanting than the moon or the sun.

Placing one hand on his hip while the other remained on her back, Calix leaned closer to Leslie, bringing his lips to one of her ears. As he whispered, the warmth of his breath fanned her face.

"You know what? I’m so tempted to kiss you now."

Leslie blinked, sensing heat quickly rushing to her cheeks. Turning her face toward Calix, the tip of her nose almost grazed the man’s lips because of how close they were.

The shadows slightly obscured Calix’s face as the sun shone behind his head. But, Leslie could still perfectly see his mischievous smile and the heated desire glinting in his devilish gaze.

Blushing, Leslie’s gaze was locked on Calix’s eyes. She saw the tiny droplets hanging on his lashes, glimmering under the sun.

Why did he look more seductive ah?

Leslie blinked before unconsciously lowering her gaze from Calix’s eyes to his lips. They were moistened by the lake water and...

Looked more kissable.

"..."

Leslie glanced behind their back, finding Evelyn and Calliope were still immersed in playing between themselves. The aunt and niece pair was busy splashing water at each other, their laughter rang in the air.

Calix groaned inwardly because Leslie suddenly looked away from him. Whining, he complained, "What are you looking at? Did you...?!"

The rest of Calix’s words were swallowed by Leslie’s lips after she suddenly pulled his head down. He froze for a second before realizing what was happening to him.

She kissed him first!

Leslie deliberately bit Calix’s lower lip before pulling away from him. A deeper shade of red tinted her cheeks as her limpid eyes stared at the man.

"Just a small one, en? Eve and Poppy are here ah. Save it for later ah."

Calix blinked, having a little difficulty processing what had just happened in his mind. Shaking his head, his whole face beaming in delight.

"Wifey, one more, en?" asked Calix, his tone pleading.

Leslie didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, "Didn’t you hear what I said?"

Calix pretended to be sad, showing a pair of puppy eyes, "One more ah? Can’t?"

"No!"

Leslie planted one palm on Calix’s face when the man dipped his head in, trying to kiss her. She only dared to sneak a light kiss earlier because Evelyn and Calliope weren’t looking.

Or so she thought.

Far from the bantering husband and wife, a floating little dumpling asked.

"Little Aunt, why close Poppy’s eyes?"

"Haha... it’s not safe for children ah..."

Evelyn’s hands were covering Calliope’s eyes, her cheeks flushed slightly.

She caught the moment her sister-in-law stole a kiss from her second brother. She also saw it when her silly lovestruck brother tried to get more kisses from his wife.

Well, all she could say was the husband and wife’s relationship was indeed a good and affectionate one.

Hahaha...

Still! They shouldn’t throw dog food to this heartbroken single dog like her!
