Driving her sports car alone, Evelyn reached Graceville Manor before noon. She came straightaway from her apartment instead of the ancestral home.

Evelyn deliberately didn’t inform Calix about her sudden visit. She had a pleasant surprise to share with her second brother and sister-in-law.

Hahaha!

Surely they would be as delighted as her!

The guards at the main entrance of Mapleview Hills readily gave Evelyn access because her name was registered under Calix’s household here. At the manor’s gate, his brother’s bodyguards also let her in easily.

Evelyn simply parked her car under the roof of the front porch instead of using Calix’s extensive garage. She let herself in by keying in the passwords of the main door.

"Aunt Wendy~ Happy Saturday!"

Evelyn bumped into Aunt Wendy in the hallway leading to the lounge. The housekeeper was arranging fresh stalks of flowers on the table nearby. The actress’ surprise appearance stunned Aunt Wendy.

Putting down a stem of flowers and a pair of scissors, Aunt Wendy returned the greeting, "Hello, Miss Eve. Are you here to meet Mr. Calix?"

Evelyn rarely visited this manor but, this was not her first time coming unannounced. Her gleeful countenance caught Aunt Wendy’s attention.

"Where’s everyone?" Evelyn darted her eyes from left to right, referring to Calix, Leslie and Calliope, "This house seems quiet. Are they on an outing?"

Evelyn was aware of the possibility none of them were at home but, she still proceeded to come here without telling anyone.

Aunt Wendy chuckled as she recalled the family of three’s activities today.

"Mr. Calix and Mrs. Leslie are in the backyard. Miss Poppy too. Hehe, Mr. Calix surprised them this morning with something."

Under Evelyn’s inquiring gaze, Aunt Wendy gave her more details about Calix setting up a glamping spot for Leslie and Calliope. The housekeeper also said the family of three had been in the backyard since breakfast time.

"Should I get them for you, Miss Eve?" suggested Aunt Wendy. She wondered if the actress suddenly visited this manor because of an urgent matter.

"Ah, thank you but, no need. I’ll go to them myself."

Evelyn shook her head, smilingly waving one hand at Aunt Wendy. As an idea crossed her mind, mischief flickered in her eyes. She tapped her chin with her index finger.

"Oh ya, I think I still have some of my clothes here."

Aunt Wendy nodded once, "Your belongings are still in the room on the third floor, Miss Eve. I’ve kept the place clean and ready for you."

Even though Evelyn had returned to live in the ancestral home and her apartment alternatively, Calix instructed Aunt Wendy to keep the guest room for his younger sister’s use.

Some of Evelyn’s clothes and other items were still inside, untouched. Aunt Wendy was only responsible for ensuring its cleanliness.

"That’s great!"

Turning around, Evelyn thanked Aunt Wendy once again before running to the staircase. Her footsteps echoed in the quiet hallways. She hurriedly sprinted to the guest room she resided in before.

As expected, she had two sets of swimwear among her other clothes.

"Oh~ They’re having fun ah."

Evelyn approached the windows. She could perfectly see the backyard from this room. Her eyes caught the sight of the glamping tent by the lake, including Calix’s, Leslie’s and Calliope’s much smaller figures.

Grinning, Evelyn quickly changed into the yellow bikini. She wore a kimono-style cardigan over the swimwear before rushing out of the room.

Hahaha!

She would surprise them all!

Evelyn stopped running once she stepped into the backyard. She wanted to watch what her silly brother was doing before ambushing him, her sister-in-law and her adorable niece.

"Hurm... Does my brother turn into a lovestruck teenager or what?"

Evelyn witnessed the particular moment when Leslie took off her cotton dress, revealing the one-piece swimsuit underneath. She found it silly when Calix seemed to awkwardly eye his wife from head to toe.

"Aiya. I didn’t think my brother could be like this."

Evelyn covered her mouth at the sight of Calix stiffly holding Leslie before the husband and wife entered the lake. She didn’t want to admit it but, her second brother looked foolishly cute ah.

Evelyn continued watching her second brother and sister-in-law. The husband and wife approached the floating Calliope. The family of three exuded happiness under the scorching summer sun.

"Wait..."

Oh no! She had forgotten her plan!

"HEY! I’M BACK, EVERYONE!"

Shouting loudly, Evelyn sprinted toward the lake. Her yell caught Calix, Leslie and Calliope’s attention as they unisonly looked in her direction. The breeze tousled her cardigan and long hair behind.

"Little Aunt! Come here! Come here!"

Calliope’s happy calling and hand-waving made Evelyn laugh louder. She also was amused by the stunned look on Calix and Leslie’s face.

"Hahaha! Missed me, guys?"

Evelyn abruptly halted her steps right before the water’s edge. Putting both hands on her hips, she smiled brightly at Calix, Leslie and Calliope.

"Little Aunt~ Hi! Come and swim with Poppy!"

Calliope swam toward the shore. Her eyes lit up once she realized her aunt was wearing a swimsuit. The yellow color reminded her of the cute plastic ducks in her bathroom.

"Why are you here? And... even in a swimsuit?"

Calix narrowed his eyes, not believing what he was witnessing now. He didn’t expect to see his younger sister suddenly appear by the lake complete in swimwear.

"What? Aren’t you happy to see me?" Evelyn raised her brows. Her lips were drawn into a snicker, "Why? Because I’m disturbing your lovey-dovey time with my sister-in-law here?"

"..."

Irked by Evelyn’s reply, Calix had a strong urge to kick his younger sister into the lake.

Leslie’s cheeks reddened upon hearing Evelyn’s teasing remark. Trying to divert the latter’s attention, she said, "Come and join us for a swim. Well, I just walk in the water for now."

"Hehe, okay~"

Looking at Calix, Evelyn stuck out her tongue. She quickly tossed her cardigan to the picnic mat before dipping into the lake.

"Little Aunt! Wanna play ball?"

"Hahaha! Sure!"

Evelyn picked a bright-colored ball from the lakebank before throwing it to Calliope. The little one burst into laughter when she failed to catch it.

Calix and Leslie exchanged a look. Both of them wondered what led Evelyn to come here.
