Chapter 359: A Freaking Unrepentant Shitbag
"See it for yourself. He’ll do the world a favor by rotting in prison."
After dinner, Calix handed Evelyn the file containing the dirt on Chase. They met in the former’s home office.
Seeing the disgusted look on her elder brother’s face, Evelyn understood whatever inside would be unpleasant to know. She glanced from the file to Calix.
"...is one back-kick enough?" asked Evelyn quietly, referring to what kind of punishment befitted the crimes Chase had done.
Scoffing, Calix curled his lips into a snicker. His eyes glinted sinisterly, "A slow torture is better. Death is too good for him."
Evelyn blinked, sensing something was wrong from the way Calix smiled at her. Holding the file tightly, her curiosity kept rising.
"I’ll read this first. Thanks, Second Brother."
Spinning on her heels, Evelyn hurriedly left the home office. Her destination was the guest room on the third floor. She needed some quiet and alone time when reading anything new discovered by Calix’s subordinates.
Soon, Evelyn reached the guest room. Closing the door shut, she locked it before throwing herself on the bed. She sat cross-legged on the mattress as she took the papers out of the file.
The report was short but, detailing everything that needed to be known. Evelyn praised her second brother’s intelligence team. They found so much within a few days.
"He’s only a plankton in the sea. Does he think he can rival the whale?"
Evelyn read the first paper. Her eyebrows contorted in displeasure the further she read until...
"...what the fuck?!"
Eye-wide in surprise, Evelyn cursed out loud. Incredulity shone in her eyes as she stiffly reread the part that caught her off guard.
"This trash... with a fifteen-year-old girl?!"
Disgust coursed through Evelyn’s veins. She finally understood why Calix said Chase should be tortured slowly.
She initially thought it was her elder brother’s usual sarcastic remark toward the cheating scumbag.
It turned out...
Chase was in a relationship with a minor two years ago!
Gritting her teeth, Evelyn fought against her contempt. She needed to know more about this shocking discovery.
"Urgh! The first man I dated after five years is a shitbag! What a bad luck!"
The minor mentioned in the report was a less-known child actress, Bella Yao. She came from a poor family made up of her, her single mother and a younger brother.
Despite being a talented young actress, Bella still didn’t get her big break. She was fifteen when Chase strung her along to be his girlfriend. They met at one of the filming sets where they played siblings.
Sharing the same surname and being siblings in the drama, Chase and Bella gradually became closer. Some people mentioned they looked and acted like real siblings.
Without anyone and even Bella’s family’s knowledge, Chase coaxed the unsuspecting minor to be his girlfriend. Because they were already close on the set, people didn’t think much about their so-called friendship.
As if that was not disgusting enough, Chase impregnated Bella shortly before they broke up. Her pregnancy was three months old when the minor’s mother discovered it.
"Shit! He forced her to abort the child?!"
The report stated a furious Chase coerced Bella to terminate the pregnancy. Despite thinking it was up to the teenager whether to abort the fetus or not, Evelyn was mad because of the trashy man’s irresponsible actions.
Instead of owning up to his mistakes, Chase threatened to expose Bella’s indecent photos to the media if her family insisted on reporting him to the police.
Heartbroken and blaming herself for her naivety, Bella retreated from the entertainment world.
The small agency Bella was under didn’t question her early retirement. They knew about her teenage pregnancy but, not who the father was. They guessed it was the girl’s high school boyfriend.
"ARGH! FREAKING SCUMBAG!"
Jumping from the bed, Evelyn struck her fists into the air before followed by high kicks and punches. She was too enraged to stay still. Her blood boiled to the max!
"Haaa! I need to find Bella. I have to!"
Calix’s intelligence team didn’t compile too many pieces of evidence but, everything was crucial. Evelyn could just report Chase to the authorities yet, she didn’t want to do it without informing Bella, the victim.
Chase had done several other crimes but, his history with Bella took the cake. Without any doubt, his agency would kick him out even before the fans and non-fans rioted against him.
Drunk driving, doing drugs and sexual acts with minors would easily cancel even a top celebrity. The strict rules and the public’s hatred would ruin them.
"I should go and see Bella personally," muttered Evelyn. Sensing a headache coming, she pinched the space between her brows, "First thing first, let me teach him a lesson."
Evelyn didn’t remember Bella Yao much. They hadn’t worked together in a production nor had they crossed paths during formal events.
Despite not knowing the young teenager, Evelyn felt bad for Bella. The high school girl joined the entertainment world with the intention of changing her family’s life.
Unfortunately, Chase’s deception ruined the young lady’s dreams.
"Urghhh! I can’t stand this!"
Jumping on her feet a few times, Evelyn continued punching into the air. She imagined beating Chase to death. Even after a considerable length of time had passed, her anger was still at its peak.
"I better drag Second Brother to spar."
Evelyn ran out of the room, heading to the staircase. She knew Calix and Leslie usually gathered at the lounge on the second floor, entertaining Calliope by playing games together.
"...en?"
Halting in her tracks, Evelyn caught the sight of Calix and Leslie sitting on a couch, talking. Calliope was already sleeping on her father’s lap. Her short arms hugged the familiar crochet fox toy.
"What are they discussing?" murmured Evelyn.
Calix and Leslie’s sunken looks expressed that whatever they were talking about was not something pleasant. Not wanting to intrude on the husband and wife, Evelyn quietly walked away from the corridor.
It seemed like she should battle against the wind.
