Chapter 356: This Was Really Dangerous for Her Heart
Chapter 356: This Was Really Dangerous for Her Heart
’...really dangerous for my heart.’
Unaware by Calix, Leslie had seen him unbuttoning the top two buttons before she abruptly darted her eyes away. Even though she had seen him proudly displaying his well-defined abs during the previous swimming, somehow she felt a bit weird today.
Like... her heartbeat became more erratic than usual.
Leslie was sure her cheeks were blooming with the red color. Shaking her head slightly, she forced herself to act like normal.
’Be calm. Stay calm, Leslie.’
"Mama~ Look at Poppy!"
A chirpy Calliope kicked the water faster than before, trying to create bigger waves behind her small body. Evelyn held the little one’s float to keep her in one place.
"Wow! Poppy is so good!" Leslie clapped her hands, successfully shifting her attention from her heart to Calliope’s adorable antics, "Poppy~ Swim a bit more and... come up ah..."
"Okay~"
Calliope continued playing with Evelyn. The little one’s bangs stuck to her round forehead, highlighting her chubby cheeks. The laughing Evelyn held both of Calliope’s hands, assisting the child swimming in her float.
"C-cough! You, you don’t want to play in the water?"
Blinking, Leslie slowly looked up to Calix. The man had hung the wet shirt on a railing nearby. He pushed his damp hair back, revealing his smooth forehead.
The dazzling sun showered him under its lights, enunciating the perfect sculpture of his toned body well. He wore the huge jagged scar across his chest like a medal.
But...
Instead of focusing on the man’s physically attractive body, she was more enticed by the sheepish look in his eyes, followed by the faint redness of his cheeks.
’Oh... He’s shy too.’
Leslie pursed her lips, trying to hold back her giggles. She had forgotten how adorably shy CEO Xu could be at certain times.
"I’d love to but... I might drown ah..."
Leslie missed the sensation of gliding in the water. She hadn’t swam in months, including the last few days she still lived in her previous world.
Calix tilted his eyes, placing both hands on the sides of his tapered waist. Staring at Leslie, he asked again, "Still, you want to play with water, en?"
A helpless chuckle slipped out of Leslie’s mouth. Returning Calix’s gaze, she replied, "Well, maybe I can just sit... on the edge..."
"Alright! Let’s go!"
"...huh?"
Calix reached out for one of Leslie’s hands while supporting her back. Grinning, he arched his brows, "Let’s go ah. Don’t waste time just sitting here."
"Hehe, you’re right..."
Slowly standing up from the lounge chair, Leslie walked slowly to the edge of the pool. Her bare feet touched the warm marble flooring. Calix steadily supported her, afraid of her slipping because of the wet floor.
"Careful."
Leslie slowly lowered her body, immersing one leg in the pool before the other one followed. She had already rolled the lower part of her light blue dress to her thighs, reluctant to drench the fabric with water.
"Oh, this feels nice..."
Her eyes twinkling, Leslie smilingly looked at her legs submerged in the cool pool water. She slowly moved her feet, laughter escaped her mouth at the sight of the soft ripples caused by her motions.
While Leslie was charmed by the simple and little thing of soaking her feet in the water, Calix was entranced by the look of delight on her countenance. The corners of his lips softened, expressing his feelings.
"Wow~ Mama and Papa~"
The milky voice pulled Leslie and Calix’s to it. They saw Calliope swimming toward them, kicking the water again and again until she reached the pool’s edge.
Evelyn was swimming behind, gliding effortlessly in the water.
"My darling enjoys swimming, en?"
Leslie extended a hand, tapping Calliope’s nose. Her action earned giggles from the little one. Calliope looked at Calix next.
"Swimming is fun ah. Right, Papa?"
"Yes, it is," Calix responded swiftly. His eyes on Calliope glimmered with fondness before teasing remarks came out of his mouth, "You look like a pink penguin swimming ah."
"Penguin is cute~ Cute like Poppy~"
Turning around, Calliope returned to Evelyn. Leslie and Calix chuckled watching how their daughter enjoyed paddling here and there using her cute bunny float.
"Calix, I haven’t shared with you..." Leslie laughed further, recalling what she had sent to Evelyn earlier, "Hehe, you know, I sent a funny article link... to Eve..."
Calix raised his brows, wondering what made Leslie laugh as if she was entirely amused by her own action.
"What kind of article?"
"Hehe, it’s about..."
Calix guffawed once he heard what Leslie had done. His laughter echoed loudly in the rooftop pool area, being carried away by the passing wind.
Evelyn and Calliope didn’t pay attention to the spouses. They were playing on the other side of the pool. It was quite a distance away from Calix and Leslie.
"Say, do you think Eve will... do it? I shared it for fun but... I wonder if Eve will do as the article says..."
Leslie glanced at Evelyn, finding her sister-in-law playing ball with Calliope. The bright yellow ball bounced from the little one to the actress.
"Hahaha! She might ah. I know my sister well."
Calix hadn’t spoken about the new dirt found on Chase with Evelyn but, he was one hundred percent sure his younger sister would be further enraged. She might do more than a simple glitter bomb.
Leslie simply nodded, hoping Evelyn would share the news if the latter indeed using that method to teach the cheating scumbag.
"...aaa!"
"Hahaha!"
Splash!
Leslie gasped for air, shocked by what had just happened. Her eyes widened, she stared at the laughing Calix with her mouth open.
This man pulled her into the pool!
Standing straight on the pool floor, Calix carried Leslie with both arms. Her dress and hair were drenched by the splash.
"C-Calix! I’m soaked!"
"Hahaha! Don’t wiggle ah! You might fall!"
Leslie instinctively wrapped her arms around Calix’s neck over his words. Blinking, she sensed the heat coming from his naked upper body.
"...."
This was bad for her heart!
