Chapter 340: This Scumbag Made His Sister a Mistress

Edward teamed up with two people from Calix’s team of bodyguards to probe into Chase’s personal life. Some of the details were meticulously hidden.

But, Calix believed Evelyn also could easily get this information if only she tried. Her own security team was made up of skilled people.

His younger sister’s way of thinking could be so contrasting.

Evelyn was unapproachable from the surface. Not many people dared to get close to her, especially after her identity as the Xu family’s young miss was revealed.

’She won’t suspect anyone easily once she’s indebted to them. Like in this case.’

Arching his brows, Calix continued reading the report.

Evelyn and Chase first crossed paths during the filming of My Disfigured Duke Husband Helps Me Plot My Revenge[01] three years ago. The drama was adapted from a popular historical book.

Evelyn took the female lead role while Chase was a minor supporting character. The report stated they were simply colleagues during this filming period. The latter only appeared in two scenes and none of them involved the superstar.

The following year, Evelyn and Chase worked together once more. This time it was for a movie; an urban romance titled The Divorced Heiress Is Getting Married Again[02].

The Ice Goddess Xu perfectly played the role of the discarded wife of the scummy CEO husband. Finding out she was cheated on, she planned to avenge herself and kicked the trash to the curb.

Chase took on the role of the male lead’s secretary. This time, Evelyn and the former interacted more during filming alongside the actor who played the male lead.

’He helped her when the prop fell.’

As Calix reread the particular paragraph, he recalled one incident that almost injured Evelyn on set. One of the filming props—a flower pot—fell from the staircase railing when she was performing her act just below the barrier.

The incident was purely a coincidence. One of the crews hit the pot when he tried making some space for his colleagues.

’He sprained his ankle. That’s it.’

Chase was nearby when the accident happened. He hurriedly dashed toward Evelyn and pushed her away. The pot didn’t hurt anyone. The young man got injured because he tripped on the floor.

The grateful Evelyn made sure Chase received the best medical treatment for his sprained ankle. From that moment on, they gradually became closer before eventually becoming a couple.

’This... I can’t believe this.’

Exhaling a sigh, Calix leaned his head against the car headrest. He didn’t expect his younger sister’s romance with the two-faced man to stem from this incident.

’How about that man’s actual girlfriend?’

Calix turned two pages over. A blurry photo of Chase and a young lady was attached to the page together with some information about them.

Tessa Duan.

The young lady was the same age as Chase. They were childhood playmates before eventually became lovers. Tessa was the beloved daughter of the village’s head.

While Chase was busy chasing his dreams to be a superstar, Tessa remained in the village. She diligently learned how to take over her family’s fruit farm business.

"Oh? She has been sending him money until now?"

Arching his brows, Calix was interested in this piece of information. His lips curved into a smirk as he tapped a finger on the particular paragraph.

Chase came to this metropolis without much money. Tessa regularly transferred him some funds to ease his first time living in the bustling city. The amount was not much but, able to help the young man.

Even when Chase earned better after six years, Tessa still sent him money. One could tell she didn’t mind making some sacrifice for the sake of her lover living far away.

"I don’t think this girl knows about him and Eve," uttered Calix. Frost glinted in his darkened eyes, "He cheats on this girl and dared to make my sister a mistress."

Even though Evelyn was not aware of Chase’s relationship with Tessa, the truth was undeniable. She had unknowingly become the other woman between this cheating scumbag and his lover.

Pap!

Slamming one palm on the document, Calix inhaled a deep breath before releasing it. He grabbed the papers, inevitably crumpling one of the edges as he grasped his hand into a fist.

"Eve better handles him quick before I step in."

Hissing those words out, Calix tried not to be carried away too much. He promised himself not to overstep the boundaries more than he had done now but, holding his rage back was hard.

Despite not remembering much the pain caused by Aria over seven years ago, Calix understood no one should go through the same agony as him. Especially not his own cherished family.

His grandmother was forced to endure the infidelity coming from his late grandfather.

He himself experienced it once.

How could he stand the thought his younger sister facing the same thing?!

Knock! Knock!

The sudden knocking sound pulled Calix out of his stupor. His eyes regaining clarity, he looked out of the window, seeing Edward standing just outside the car door.

"You’re on your way back?" asked Calix after winding the window down.

"Yeah. I didn’t think you’re still here, Boss Xu," replied Edward with a shrug, "I’ve been standing here around five minutes anyway."

The tinted windows didn’t allow Edward to see Calix sitting inside the car but, he guessed his boss was busy reading through Chase Yao’s information.

Calix sighed, admitting he got lost in his thoughts. Still staring at Edward, he asked, "You take the subway, aren’t you? Get in. I’ll send you to the station."

"Yes!"

Without feigning shame, Edward quickly hopped into Calix’s luxury car. He grinned smugly when his boss eye-rolled at him.

"Hurry, boss. My beloved dog is waiting for me ah."

"...put on your seatbelt."

Shaking his head, Calix slowly reversed the car before driving out of the basement. Edward was still giddy for scoring a free ride from his boss.
