Chapter 282: Papa, Your Eyes Look Like a Panda’s

"Pfff! Hehehe~"

Covering her mouth, Leslie glanced at the closed door of the bedroom. She replayed the moment Calix scrambled to his feet just now, rushing out while giving excuses of showering for the morning.

Leslie woke up more than one hour ago, feeling all refreshed and relaxed. She found Calix lying very close to the edge. He would definitely fall from the bed if he made a wrong turn in his sleep.

’Like a mummy.’

That thought crossed Leslie’s mind once she fully registered Calix’s posture in the dimness of the room. He laid on his back, as straight as a pole with both hands clutching hard on the blanket.

Leslie could tell Calix had some difficulties before finally falling asleep. His slightly contorted face expressed how troubled he was. Seeing it almost made her laugh but, she painstakingly held back, unwilling to wake up the poor man before the right time.

Thus, Leslie quietly helped herself to the wheelchair. She was lucky Calix placed it so near to her side of the bed. She tried to be as quiet as possible, from sitting in the wheelchair to moving out of the bedroom.

Fortunately, the sleep-deprived and troubled CEO Xu noticed nothing.

Mrs. Su assisted Leslie to the washroom. The private nurse waited just outside as she took a shower. She wanted to get ready early even though most children had yet to arise.

CEO Xu woke up not long after Leslie returned from her shower. She was combing her hair in the dimness when the man was stirred awake. He looked utterly confused before all his senses returned to him.

"Your panda eyes are showing ah... couldn’t sleep well?"

Leslie’s teasing froze Calix. What came next was a slurry of excuses before he jumped out of bed, hastily grabbed his items and ran out of the room.

’I shouldn’t tease him much ah but, it’s so funny.’

Chuckling to herself, Leslie decided to leave the bedroom. She wanted to see what the orphanage was like in the early morning. The clock was pointing to seven-twenty.

Before wheeling herself down the hallway, Leslie asked Mrs. Su to tell Calix about her going. The orphanage was not too big. He would find her in no time even if she didn’t stay at a fixated place.

’The children are up already ah.’

Leslie vaguely listened to the echoes of the children’s chattering and laughing from the yard. It seemed some of them were already eager enough to spend time outdoors.

’Is Poppy with them?’

Leslie couldn’t help but wonder about Calliope’s feelings this morning.

They planned to leave right after breakfast, meeting the rest of their entourage at the airport. All of them might land back at Silvercrest City around noon.

By arriving early at Graceville Manor, Leslie and Calix hoped Calliope would get to feel comfortable before her bedtime later tonight. The little one could choose to sleep either in the guest room or any of the spouses’ bedrooms.

’Poppy is a bit cowardly ah, hehe.’

Leslie had been accompanying Calliope sleeping for the past five years in their previous world. She decorated the smaller bedroom of their two-room apartment for her daughter but, Calliope rarely slept there by herself.

Thinking that she couldn’t get to sleep with her daughter forever, Leslie just let Calliope be. As the little one grew up, she would certainly crave some privacy inside her own bedroom.

"Mama~ Good morning!"

"Oh! Poppy!"

Calliope appeared out of nowhere, running toward Leslie before throwing herself to her mother. Giggling, she hugged the lady’s legs.

Calliope had showered and changed into an adorable light blue dress. She didn’t forget to bring the toy Mimo along with her.

"Mama, sleep well? Poppy sleep sooo well! Hug Ruby, Daisy and many!"

Tilting her chin up, Calliope excitedly told Leslie her experience sleeping together with her friends on the big floor mattresses.

"Mama slept well..." Leslie raised one hand, gently stroking Calliope’s head. Mischief glinting in her eyes, she said, "Your papa didn’t sleep well ah. His eyes are like the panda’s."

"Ah? Why?" Calliope widened her eyes in wonder, "Papa got bad dreams?"

"Hehe, you should ask him later... Poppy, where are you going next?"

"Granny said to pick Mama and Papa," Calliope released Leslie’s legs, standing just right next to the wheelchair, "Have breakfast together."

"Let’s go to the dining room..." Leslie patted Calliope’s head, feeling how soft her daughter’s hair was, "Your papa will come to us soon..."

"Okay~ Ah, Mama, please hold Mimo."

"En?"

Calliope put the toy Mimo on Leslie’s lap before running to the back. Realizing what her daughter tried to do, Leslie laughed out of amusement.

"My darling, thank you for your... thoughts but, just walk... by my side. It’s dangerous ah..."

Calliope wanted to push the wheelchair which was bigger and taller than her. Leslie didn’t want her daughter to accidentally hurt herself.

Poking her head from one side of the wheelchair, Calliope asked with puppy eyes, "Poppy wanna help Mama, Poppy can’t?"

"It’ll be dangerous, my darling..." Leslie chuckled, amused by her daughter’s attempt to gain sympathy, "You can help me... get some of my things later, Poppy..."

"En, okay..."

Despite feeling disappointed for not being able to help, Calliope still listened to Leslie. She couldn’t help thinking of Calix.

’Poppy will get sooo big and tall like Papa! Can help Mama!’

Once again Calliope was determined to grow out of her short and stubby legs[01]. Her eyes burned with resolution.

Leslie and Calliope had spent quite some time in the dining room before Calix finally appeared. Everyone hadn’t started eating as they wanted to dine together with the little one before her departure soon.

"Papa~ Good morning~"

Calliope sweetly greeted Calix, receiving a smile in return. The man took a seat on the right side of the little one while Leslie was already sitting on the left.

"Good morning, my buttercup," Calix poked one of Calliope’s cheeks, unable to resist, "Excited to see your new home?"

"Hehe, yes~" Calliope nodded, smiling brightly. Her eyes had traces of curiosity as she looked at Calix, asking, "Papa, your eyes look like a panda."

"..."

"Pfff!"

Calix speechlessly moved his gaze from the curious Calliope to the laughing Leslie. Once their eyes met, she simply raised her brows, having fun teasing him.
