Chapter 129: Has CEO Xu Ever Had a Lover?

Accompanied by Mimo, Leslie began wandering around the commercial district of the neighborhood.

Vibrant bougainvillea in different colors bloomed on one side of the cobblestone street. The lovely sight of the flowers earned a smile from her.

"The weather’s so nice," Leslie looked at the clear blue sky. The cool spring breeze blew, gently caressing her cheeks, "It’s a shame Calix’s busy working."

Leslie’s gaze wandered to the rows of shops nearby. The earthy tones of the rustic commercial buildings had splashes of vivid colors from the stores’ decorations, easily charming one’s attention.

|Leslie, where should we go first?| asked Mimo, being hugged with both arms by Leslie.

"How about one of the bakeries?" suggested Leslie, her eyes fixated on a pasty shop, "I can’t try any but, I’d like to see all the cakes and pastries."

Go! Let’s go!

Mimo’s encouragement prompted laughter out of Leslie’s lips. Floating in the air, she approached the bakeshop. Through the windows, she saw the customers were busy making their choices.

"Wow~ The smell is so nice."

The scent of the freshly baked bread enticed Leslie’s appetite. She lamented the fact that she couldn’t buy or savor any of the baked goods right now.

The flaky and buttery croissants called for Leslie’s attention, and so did the artisanal bread loaves. The fruit-based pastries looked good in her eyes as well while the petite cakes made her swoon.

"I’ll get Calix to buy them for me," Leslie quickly made the mental note to bring it up to Calix later, "Sigh... everything looks so delicious."

Leslie felt so helpless at the sight of the golden-brown pastries and colorful cakes. If Calliope was here right now, her little daughter would surely sweet-talk to her until she bought some cakes and pastries.

Standing opposite the glass display rack of the cakes, Leslie whispered, "Poppy will love this kind of bakery. Well, she likes sweets."

Leslie, you have to bring Poppy to buy cakes later. You two can enjoy the desserts together.

Mimo’s words earned a smile from Leslie. Nodding, she replied, "I will. I want to treat her to all the good stuff."

Calliope was still very young but, Leslie could proudly say that her little one was a sensible daughter. Despite the occasional tantrums of a young child, Calliope’s manners were exemplary.

Leslie knew that no matter how young the child was, he or she was capable of having their own perceptions. Perhaps, Calliope understood that their family was only made up of the two of them thus, she unconsciously learned to behave well.

"Poppy is still doing good wherever she is, right?" Leslie tilted her head down, staring at Mimo, "I won’t give up hope on seeing her again."

Poppy is doing well. Leslie, we will find her.

Smiling, Leslie gently stroked Mimo’s head, "Soon, I believe we’ll reunite with Poppy soon."

Edward was still conducting the searches. Calix informed Leslie that the chief assistant expanded the search range wider than usual. They would also look into the orphanages in the countryside.

"We’ll get new information once we get back. Or, Edward might send the file to me."

Calix’s promise instilled another layer of hope within Leslie. The previous failures didn’t break her will down.

"How nice is it if we can sit down and have the pastries?" Leslie glanced around, looking at the patrons who enjoyed their baked goods with coffee, "Let’s go somewhere else."

Yes! Yes!

After leaving the bakery, Leslie continued walking down the cobblestone street. Most of the people she saw here were locals. Only a few were tourists.

"Oh? Why don’t we drop by the florist?"

Leslie’s attention was caught by one of the flower shops. Flowers of various species were vibrantly blooming, spilling colors out to the sidewalk. They might be locally sourced from nearby farms.

Several people were loitering inside the flower shop, taking their sweet time picking the blooms. The air was infused with the floral fragrance, alluring the patrons to feast on the petals’ beauty.

"Hehe, is he buying for his special someone?"

Leslie saw a young local man standing opposite the counter, chatting with the shopkeeper. The woman wearing an apron was holding a huge bouquet of red and white roses before it exchanged hands with the man.

"Seems like it," Leslie chuckled, happy seeing the flower bouquet, "Red roses are usually given to lovers."

When was the last time she received one?

Tilting her head, Leslie pondered for a moment. She recalled that Axel often gave flowers to her but, they never came in a big bouquet. Usually, they were just a few stalks of flowers wrapped together.

A huge bouquet of fresh flowers was expensive. Leslie was grateful enough to know Axel always thought of her. She dried some of the flowers before keeping them safe.

"Oh... I forgot."

The image of Axel smiling faded away, replaced by someone else.

"Mimo," Leslie looked down at Mimo again, thinking of something, "I’ve never read it in the book so, I’m not sure. Has Calix ever had a lover before?"

The author only emphasized the male lead Xander’s non-existent love life. Despite encountering countless beauties his entire life, his heart was only set on the female lead Violet.

As for Calix, the book had yet to mention anything. There were no clues about CEO Xu’s love life aside from him continuously dodging the blind dates arranged by his grandmother.

Well, CEO Xu was more normal than the male lead. Shouldn’t he be in a relationship or two before?

I have the answer but, I can’t tell you yet. You better ask him later.

Mimo’s answer piqued Leslie’s curiosity. Assumptions started brewing in her mind.

"Hurm... I think he has at least one ex-girlfriend. Or, perhaps a former crush," tapping one finger on her cheek, Leslie murmured, "If yes, why do I feel like she’ll appear later in the story?"

Mimo said nothing. Its silence arouses suspicions in Leslie’s heart.

"Forget it. I’ll just ask Calix later," turning around, Leslie passed through the closed door, "Let’s visit another shop."

Go! Let’s go!

Leslie’s laughter spilled out of her mouth. Hugging Mimo close to her, she continued her adventure. The dazzling sun beamed through everything, showering the quaint district with its light.
