Chapter 119: Instead, He Was the Type to Be the Abductor

"Mrs. Xu, the chicken won’t go anywhere. Slow down ah. Did I starve you?"

Exhaling an exaggerated sigh, Calix stared at Leslie opposite him.

She kept eating the fried chicken nonstop as if she had been dying of hunger for ten years. The plastic gloves worn on her hands were stained with red sauce. Chicken bones were piled on a plate nearby.

Perhaps due to its spiciness, her entire face was red. But, it didn’t seem to slow her down.

Leslie narrowed her eyes. The spicy red sauce of the chicken left traces on her lips. After wiping them with a tissue, she responded.

"Don’t you remember how many clothes I had to try on, CEO Xu? That required energy, you know?"

Calix raised his brows, snickering while deboning the chicken wings, "Tsk tsk, your stamina is weak ah. You should start exercising more soon. Put the home gym for good use."

Leslie took the deboned chicken wings Calix put on her plate. Laughing, she cheekily answered, "Between running on the treadmill and curling under the blanket, I’ll always pick the latter."

Calix rolled his eyes. He didn’t even try to hide his disdain. Leslie made her face. She continued enjoying the fried chicken.

CEO Xu brought his wife to Seoulful Bites, a Korean restaurant in Qindom Plaza. The eatery offered a few private dining rooms, much to the spouses’ convenience.

While Leslie chose a bucket of spicy fried chicken wings, Calix ordered a beef bulgogi bowl served alongside side dishes. He hadn’t eaten much yet as he took on the task of deboning the chicken even though she didn’t ask him to.

"Your bingsu[1] will melt if you let it be," Leslie gestured to the strawberry shaved ice sitting near Calix, "I can debone the chicken wings myself. Start eating your rice too."

Leslie was actually surprised to see how diligently Calix plucked the bones out of the chicken wings. She couldn’t help but wonder if this was simply his habit or not.

Like...

Leslie blinked. She quickly pushed the thought back into her mind.

It was a coincidence, really a coincidence. She was just blessed to meet someone with the similarities.

Calix glanced at the strawberry bingsu. Instead of getting a drink, he ordered this sweet and refreshing shaved ice.

The red plumpy strawberries formed a line surrounding the ball of shaved ice, complete with strawberry drizzle and other toppings.

"Have some lest you’ll burn your tongue."

Taking off the plastic gloves, Calix scooped some of the strawberry shaved ice into a clean bowl. He also put a few strawberries into it before placing the bowl next to Leslie’s plate.

"Haa... I can’t wait to try the authentic gelato," Leslie chuckled, amused by her own words, "Hehe, not that I’ve eaten one before."

Calix blinked, staring at Leslie weirdly, "You haven’t gone to Italy before?"

Even though Leslie and her family were disfavored by Old Madam Li, they still lived in endless wealth, allowing them to travel abroad without being concerned about the expenses.

Italy ranked high in the world tourism ranking. Calix wondered if Rowan and Bianca preferred to go somewhere else instead of there.

Calix’s words surprised Leslie. She unconsciously jogged down the dormant memories belonging to Charlene. In them, the latter had visited Italy several times with her parents and younger sister.

"Oh... I meant that I haven’t eaten one in so long," Leslie laughed awkwardly, trying to make up excuses, "It has been a few years. I don’t remember much."

Calix quietly enjoyed the sweet taste of the shaved ice. His peach blossom eyes silently perceived the weird way Leslie looked when replying to him. But, he didn’t point it out.

"You should list down everything you wanna eat once we’re there," Calix wiggled his brows, teasing the foodie Leslie, "Thank goodness you’re in your soul form now. If not, you’ll easily be kidnapped. People just need to lure you with food."

Leslie curled her lips downward. Rolling her eyes, she threw out a fact, "The delicate me is easy to be anyone’s target. I’m not like you, CEO Xu. You’re the type to be the abductor instead."

Ignoring Calix, Leslie continued eating. She pretended not to hear when he started laughing at her.

Before another hour passed, a stuffed Leslie happily floated out of the restaurant. She patted her bulging tummy, relishing the aftertaste of the delicious fried chicken.

Calix wanted to grab Leslie’s back and force her to walk but, it’ll just make him look like a crazy man. He begrudgingly let her hover by his side.

"Second Young Master Xu!"

A feminine voice called out to Calix, prompting him and Leslie to pause. Both of them turned their heads, trying to find out who the person was.

On their right side, three young ladies stood not far from them. One face was all too familiar to both Leslie and Calix. The terrified look on her face showed her fear of bumping into the young man.

Gladys.

Leslie raised her brows, amused by the sudden appearance of the cannon fodder. She hadn’t seen Gladys after the night Calix exposed her indecency.

"Second Young Master Xu, we didn’t expect to run into you here," said one of the ladies. She hugged Gladys’s arm, pulling the latter toward Calix, "We’re friends with Gladys. I heard that you’re married to her cousin."

"Congratulations, Second Young Master Xu," the other lady chimed in, a pinkish hue spreading on her cheeks, "We’re actually really surprised to hear news of your marriage."

Leslie recognized the two ladies, Maisie Chen and Ophelia Guan. They were Gladys’ close friends who joined her in tormenting Charlene.

Like most wealthy young missus in high society, Maisie and Ophelia admired Calix. Of course, they set their eyes on the male lead Xander as well.

If this was Xander, none of them would dare to come closer. His frosty gaze was enough to freeze the ladies.

Leslie held back from laughing. Maisie and Ophelia were clearly overjoyed to cross paths with Calix but, Gladys appeared terrified. Seemed like she kept the failure in seducing Calix only to herself.

"Looks like her friends are excited to see you," Leslie smirked, glancing at Calix, "CEO Xu, you still have many fans even after getting married."

Calix was still smiling but, his gaze expressed how annoyed he felt right now. Seeing Gladys heightened the level of his irritation. He still remembered how delusional this young woman was.

"Thank you for the well wishes. I’m sure my wife will be as delighted as I am."

While keeping his smile polite yet with a hint of distance, Calix only placed his eyes on Maisie and Ophelia. Gladys’s presence was treated like air.

"Charlene is our childhood friend. We’ve never thought that she’s in a relationship with you, Second Young Master Xu. She’s still in a coma, right? Hopefully, she won’t trouble you so much. After all, you’re a busy person."

Maisie sighed, acting as if she hadn’t been involved in bullying Charlene before. She gently fluttered her eyelashes a few times, acting as if she was saddened by her friend’s comatose state.

Leslie was in awe, applauding Maisie’s choice of words.

This snake sounded like she was worrying about her so-called friend, the unconscious Charlene when in fact, she implied that the latter was bothering her newlywedded husband.

Birds of the same feathers flocked together. No wonder they could be friends with the delusional Gladys.
