Chapter 117: All These Are Yours to Pick, Mrs. Xu
"Where are we going?"
Calix’s plan of taking her out to eat intrigued Leslie. She couldn’t help but ask when the car passed the second traffic light they met along the way.
Leslie’s question curved a grin on Calix’s lips. Briefly taking a look at her, he responded in a low tone, sounding a bit conspiratorial, "You’ll be surprised. I won’t tell you. Wait until we get there."
Leslie blinked, her eyes caught the sight of Calix’s snickering. Smiling in helplessness, she shrugged.
Where were they heading that made him so secretive?
"Okay, I’ll just wait until we arrive there," replied Leslie, half-shrugging. The man’s laughter deepened her smile.
Calix and Leslie left Xu International before three. The traffic was decent because it was not the peak hour yet. In less than half an hour, they reached their destination.
Calix’s car was approaching a massive building. Leslie’s attention was caught by the name spelled on the gigantic LED signboard. Gasping, her eyes widened in surprise.
"...Qindom Plaza?"
That... wasn’t that the shopping mall owned by the male lead’s conglomerate? It made several appearances in the novel.
"Yeah, that’s where we are going," Calix’s tone had a hint of a chuckle, "I need to do something else first. Can we postpone our lunch a bit?"
"Oh, that’s fine by me," Leslie swiftly agreed. She was hungry but, it was bearable. She could go on until the evening.
Leslie recalled some descriptions of this shopping mall. Qindom Plaza was an enormous and sophisticated retail center where designer boutiques and other luxurious stores could be found.
Hurm... Did CEO Xu have things to buy?
Thinking that the questions were not important, Leslie just kept quiet about them.
Calix entered the VVIP parking lot in the basement. He left the car to the valet. With a subtle glance, he gestured to Leslie, telling her to follow him. She quickly did so.
The luxury shopping mall had an air of elegance. Its contemporary yet opulent design awed Leslie. She had never been to a place like this before. Instead of a mall, she usually frequented the neighborhood department stores.
Calix led Leslie to the first floor of the mall, the level where the grandest luxury boutiques lined up in Qindom Plaza. He took a leisurely stride with each step while she simply floated above the marble floor.
"That’s where we’re going."
While walking in that direction, Calix announced their destination. Leslie briefly paused, taking in the sight of the boutique.
Lavender Thread was spelled in color lilac against the white signboard. If Leslie recalled correctly, this boutique was owned by someone named Madam Wang.
Once, Xander brought Violet here during the beginning of his courtship. The domineering male lead arranged for the boutique to open only for them. He didn’t want to be bothered by other patrons coming and going.
"Wow... am I really here?"
Muttering to herself, Leslie shook her head. She hurriedly flew to where Calix was. The young man would reach the entrance in a few more steps.
"CEO Xu, welcome to Lavender Thread."
A middle-aged woman in a tailored cream suit greeted Calix. Her neck was adorned with a lilac-colored printed silk scarf, the statement of her neat appearance.
"Mrs. Wei, I believe Mr. Liang has informed you?" Calix smiled faintly. He brought up the name of the mall’s manager.
"Yes," replied the middle-aged woman called Mrs. Wei, "Let me lead you to the dressing room. CEO Xu, you’ll get the privacy you desire there."
"That sounds reassuring," replied Calix, chuckling a little.
Leslie threw her gaze around the store, seeing a few patrons doing their shopping while being assisted by the salespersons. All of the customers were female. The staff wore the same uniform as Mrs. Wei but with plain scarves.
It seemed like this boutique catered to ladies’ fashion more than the gentleman’s. She wondered what kind of clothes Calix was looking for here.
"CEO Xu, please follow me."
Mrs. Wei gestured in a direction before escorting Calix there. Leslie also followed along, intrigued by the so-called privacy mentioned by the boutique’s manager.
Did CEO Xu want to do his shopping inside the most exclusive dressing room? Leslie couldn’t help but imagine the familiar scenes in most CEO romance stories.
A high-end boutique like Lavender Thread should have more private dressing rooms than the shared ones found in common boutiques. Racks of clothes would be brought there while the patrons waited while sipping tea.
Unable to hold back her excitement, Leslie grinned widely. Her eyes sparkled more once Mrs. Wei brought Calix inside a spacious room, illuminated by bright lights.
But...
Did she see things wrongly?
Blinking in confusion, Leslie didn’t hear the conversation between Mrs. Wei and Calix. Her focus was directed on the anomaly of the private dressing room.
"As per your request, everything has been brought here. All of this is our latest collection for spring and summer," Mrs. Wei spread one of her hands, gesturing at the clothing racks.
Calix smiled in satisfaction, "Great. I’ll take my sweet time so, don’t come in unless I call for you."
"Understand, CEO Xu. I’ll just be outside."
Mrs. Wei gave Calix a slight nod before walking out of the dressing room. She slowly closed the door, giving the young man the privacy he wanted.
The bewildered Leslie quickly asked Calix once Mrs. Wei was gone, her voice brimming with confusion.
"Calix... aren’t you looking for some clothes for yourself? Why are they only female outfits here? Are we getting some gifts for Evelyn or your mother?"
Leslie faintly heard when Mrs. Wei mentioned that she brought all the latest collections here. No matter how many times she saw it, the four long clothing racks only had women’s clothes.
Leslie’s perplexity brought a smirk to Calix’s lips. Mirth danced in his eyes as he spread both arms.
"All these are yours to choose, Mrs. Xu. Come, tell me if you have anything you like."
Leslie’s jaw dropped. Surprise flitted in her enlarged eyes, "Ha? W-what do you mean by that? You know that I don’t need to change clothes. Even if I want to, I still have many at home."
Even though Leslie didn’t need to, she still took at least one shower a day. She loved the feeling of the warm water washing over her body.
If she was at Graceville Manor, Leslie would change into different clothes. If she was somewhere else, she didn’t do that. Like her, her clothes didn’t turn smelly.
"Pick anything you like. No need to hold back ah," Calix shook his head, holding back from flicking Leslie’s forehead, "Mrs. Wei has switched off the CCTV. No one else will see the clothes move in the air."
A private dressing room like this still had a surveillance system because it just resembled a lounge.
The clients could take their time browsing through the stylish clothes without other patrons’ interference. One of two salespeople would stay with them during the process.
If the clients wanted to try the clothes, they could do so in the enclosed partition provided there.
Leslie was speechless. She didn’t expect that Calix had arranged for everything beforehand. No wonder he told Mrs. Wei to leave him alone.
Calix narrowed his gaze, sensing that Leslie didn’t believe him yet.
"If you don’t want to pick, I can just buy all these clothes for you."
Jolted out of her stupor, Leslie quickly shook her head.
No!
