Chapter 560: 520 "Stop! Right there!
"I! Told! You! To! Let! Go!"
At that moment, Genom’s body released magic power that materialized, prompting him to raise the short stick he had been gripping in his other hand.
"Don’t!"
Seeing this, regardless of Luoqi and the others, Merica’s expression changed as she let out the most panicked cry she had uttered so far.
But it was already too late to stop it.
"Tinder!"
Genom’s delicate shout echoed.
The short stick she held aloft now spawned a fierce flame out of thin air, like a binding of fire, lunging towards Shane.
The fire strand was small, a mere flicker like the flames leaping from a torch, visible evidence that Genom had restrained the magic’s potency, controlling the output of her magic power.
Considering that this was merely the most basic and elementary among the Flame Magic series, its effect in this world would at most burn someone momentarily.
Clearly, Genom was angry but had not lost her rationality completely to assault anyone.
This flame strand targeted Shane’s hand, gripping Merica’s, evidently intending to burn him and make him release his hold.
But, dreams are beautiful and reality is cruel.
"Ha!"
Shane didn’t even move an inch, only swatting at the incoming flames as one would swat a mosquito, stirring up a gust of wind.
"Boom!"
With a explosive sound, Shane fiercely dispersed the incoming flame strand, making it burst like sparks.
"Eh?"
Genom was stunned.
Right after that, Genom met Shane’s meaningful gaze.
"Thinking I would let go without you showing some real skill? That won’t work."
Shane’s voice carried a double meaning, uncertain whether he was referring to releasing Merica or completely letting her leave him, a man of alien race.
In any case, Genom felt this was Shane’s taunt.
Immediately, Genom didn’t think twice, magic power surged through her, and the short stick in her hand shone brightly.
"Burn Off!"
This Elf girl finally showed her true skill, hurling a powerful spell.
This was a magic that Merica could also use, an Intermediate Magic from the Flame Series.
Shane had already used "Outer Destiny" to perceive Genom’s strength.
This Elf girl was Level Fifty-one, and she possessed both "Magic·Fire" and "Magic·Ice", evidencing her mastery of fire and ice series magics, both magic skills reaching Level 6, just a step away from Level 7.
After reaching Level 7 in magic skills, a Mage could use Upper-level Magic, qualifying them for the upper echelons of Mages, distinct from ordinary mages.
Genom, practicing both types of magic, had managed to advance close to the upper-level, despite being under sixty-sixty, indicating the exceptional talent that Merica had spoken highly of, understandably considered a genius likely to join the Elf Corps next.
So, it must be said, wasn’t this girl worthy of being inseparable from Merica since childhood?
Merica mastered both flame and ice series of magic, and so did her childhood friend. It seemed Merica was right; they really had been doing the same things all along.
The only difference was that Genom’s magical talent was somewhat superior to Merica’s.
Otherwise, without any external experience and merely practicing behind closed doors in the Elf Country, Genom couldn’t have advanced her level and skills to this degree.
Remember, these figures were much better than when Shane first met Merica.
It was clear they had been doing the same things, following the same practices, and learning the same magic since childhood, yet Genom was somewhat stronger in all aspects, no wonder Merica felt she couldn’t keep up with Genom’s progression in the village, which led to her thoughts of leaving.
Unfortunately, facing Shane, this level was clearly insufficient.
"Boom!"
As the blazing flames arose, transforming into a curtain of burning off, engulfing towards Shane. Shane again swung his hand and slapped the incoming fire curtain, dispersing this quite powerful Intermediate Magic with a loud explosion.
"What?"
Genom finally gasped in astonishment, unable to believe her own eyes.
The magic just now, although not fully utilizing all of Genom’s abilities, was still her showing genuine skill, a stark contrast from her initial intent to merely push Shane back.
If Shane had countered with all his might, Genom could accept its ineffectiveness.
But what did this alien race man do?
He simply swatted with one hand!
One hand, and he had scattered her genuinely skilled magic?
How could this be possible?
Genom, shaken to the core, had no idea that even in the past, Shane could have resisted her magic using the "Magic Resistance" Skill, let alone now.
With a blend of various resistance skills and defensive abilities, Shane’s "Inner Destiny" defensive power was now said to be invincible below the Transcendence Level.
To challenge Shane now, one would have to employ a Transcendence Level attack, a unique defense-breaking skill, or at the very least wield a weapon of the Holy Sword caliber, to potentially harm him.
Level Fifty-one Mage using an Intermediate Magic?
Frankly, it wasn’t even enough to tickle!
Shane smirked in amusement, taking advantage of Genom’s momentary distraction, and with a strong pull, he yanked Merica towards him.
Caught off guard by the strength, Genom’s hand involuntarily loosened.
"Ah!"
This was not the first time Merica’s cry was heard.
But this time, along with her scream, Merica was pulled directly_into Shane’s embrace.
Yes.
Shane had suddenly swept Merica into his arms.
"Ah?"
Merica let out a silly sound.
"Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah!"
Genom finally reacted, and upon seeing this scene, he let out a tremendous scream on the spot.
Shane ignored everything, and amidst another shriek from Merica, he actually scooped up the elf girl around the waist and held her in a princess carry.
"Sha Sha Sha Sha Sha Sha Sha... Mr. Shane...!?"
Merica’s voice went off-key as she instinctively clung to Shane’s neck, and when she realized what was happening, her whole face turned beet red.
Shane paid no heed to Merica, smelling the fresh fragrance of the elf girl, feeling the tender and delicate body in his arms like a fragile flower bud, apparently very pleased with himself as he turned his head and looked towards Luoqi and the others.
"You guys go ahead and explore, I’ll have some fun with this lass."
Saying this, Shane, maintaining his hold on Merica, leapt high up with a bound, jumping onto a Light Tree amidst Merica’s unceasing cries.
Immediately after, Shane began jumping from one Light Tree to another, leaving his silhouette behind as he darted into the distance.
Genom could only stare dumbly at this scene, and it took a long while before he finally grasped what had happened.
"Merica... has been taken away by a man...?"
After a dumbfounded murmur, an astonishing burst of magic power erupted from Genom.
It was a colossal magic power that was enough to surprise and astonish anyone.
Undoubtedly, Genom exploded.
"Stop! Right! There!"
The elf girl let out a roar like a ferocious spirit, then immediately took off running, rushing in the direction where Shane had gone.
Before long, the figures of Shane, Merica, and Genom chasing each other disappeared into the distance.
"What... What’s going on here?"
"Was that Genom just now?"
"It was Genom..."
"Why did she suddenly get so angry?"
"I don’t know..."
"Is she chasing something?"
"Seems like it."
"I saw a black shadow flying overhead."
"I saw it too."
"What exactly happened?"
The surrounding elves eventually realized the situation and started talking to each other in surprise and confusion.
Only Luoqi, Lasha, Milu, and Lilith remained, looking in the direction where Shane and the others had disappeared, silent for a long time.
"???"
"???"
Lilith and Milu were still tilting their heads, a look of confusion on their faces, almost evolving into a confused black question mark face.
It was clear, given the current situation, these two girls with not so mature spiritual wisdom were utterly baffled.
The two of them instinctively wanted to chase after, but Lasha held them back.
"Shall we chase after them, Princess Luoqi?"
Lasha turned towards Luoqi and asked softly.
Luoqi rolled her eyes.
Chase?
Chase what?
Help that guy chase girls?
Not a chance!
Luoqi had already figured out that the guy had realized Merica’s love and didn’t plan to let her go.
Perhaps he didn’t know about the elves’ view of love or their pure and selfless dedication to it, but he surely knew that if a lovely girl throws herself at him for free, not swallowing her up completely would be unmanly.
In such a situation, Luoqi did not want to chase after and watch her future husband woo an innocent elf girl.
So...
"Let’s go, let’s enjoy ourselves and not worry about them."
Luoqi, looking immensely relieved, took Lasha by the hand and walked away without looking back.
"..."
Lasha glanced at Luoqi’s hand holding hers and finally chose to stay silent.
"Play?"
"Play!"
Lilith and Milu, however, quickly dispelled their doubts and became cheerful again.
Thus, Shane had run off with Merica.
Being chased by someone.
