Chapter 559: Meet on May 19 for a sharp confrontation 2

He remembered their sorrowful looks.

He remembered their pensive expressions.

"...We must stop this."

Genom had this thought the moment he realized what was happening.

Because of this, Genom spent all of yesterday indirectly probing, attempting to learn about Merica’s beloved from various aspects.

Under Genom’s questioning, Merica had personally admitted that her relationship with that male from an Alien Race was nothing more than that of ordinary adventuring partners.

Thus, Genom decided that while things seemed like they could still be salvaged, he would observe Shane and Merica quietly to see how far their relationship had developed.

Today, Genom saw Shane and Merica staring intently at each other.

He didn’t know what Shane and Merica had been talking about that led to such an intense exchange of gazes, or why there was such a strange atmosphere between the two.

But something inside Genom was telling him that he couldn’t let things continue this way.

So, Genom couldn’t help but step forward.

"What was that about just now?"

Genom confronted Merica.

"This..."

As Merica recalled the recent events, her head felt like it was boiling over, turning completely red and even steaming.

Clearly, Merica was so embarrassed that she was about to faint.

She didn’t even dare to look in Shane’s direction anymore, and she felt an urge to run away.

However, because of Merica’s reaction, Genom became even angrier.

"Seriously, just because you went out for a year or two, you’ve become so strange. If I’d known this would happen, I would never have let you go," Genom scolded, grabbing Merica in an undeniable tone: "Come on, we’re going back."

With that, Genom attempted to take Merica away.

"Wait... wait a minute! Genom!" Merica snapped back to reality and quickly said, "I still have to entertain Mr. Xi’en and the others!"

"Entertain?" Genom immediately said, "That sort of thing can be done by the Elf Corps, there’s no need for you to do it."

"How can you say that?" Merica exclaimed, "I invited them, they are all my friends, it’s only right that I should be the one to entertain everyone."

"I’m telling you there’s no need!" Genom certainly understood the principle but insisted forcefully, "In any case, you just need to come back with me!"

After Genom finished speaking, he started pulling on Merica’s hand forcefully, tugging her towards himself.

"Ah!"

Merica let out a small cry of alarm as her body leaned towards Genom and she was involuntarily pulled over.

Just as Merica was about to be pulled to Genom’s side, suddenly, a hand reached out.

"Snap!"

The sound was crisp as someone grabbed hold of Merica’s other hand.

"Huh?"

Genom was stunned there.

"Sh... Mr. Xi’en?"

Merica let out another cry of surprise.

Luoqi, Lasha, Lilith, and Milu all turned their gaze to the side.

There, Shane had extended his hand, holding onto Merica, with a half-smiling expression on his face.

"Miss Genom, right?" Shane greeted nonchalantly, "Nice to meet you."

His leisurely greeting nearly left Merica without a response and caused Genom’s beautiful face to darken, her complexion turning somewhat ugly.

"I’m not fine!" Genom glared at Shane and said in a low voice, "Let go of her!"

Genom, glancing at Shane holding onto Merica’s hand, felt an inexplicable sense of something being taken from her, fueling her anger.

However, Shane was undisturbed.

"I believe that’s my line, right?" Shane squinted his eyes, his half-smile still present on his face, saying, "You come out of nowhere and cause a scene, then without a word, try to take our person away. That’s not acceptable, is it?"

Faced with Shane’s words, Genom didn’t think twice before retorting.

"Who’s your person!?" Genom stared at Shane as if looking at a culprit and raised her voice, "Merica isn’t your person!"

The tone in which Genom spoke was filled with obsession.

Her manner seemed truly as if she was fervently protecting something important.

"Is that so?" Shane raised an eyebrow and said, "If she’s not our person, is she perhaps yours?"

"Of course!" Genom stood tall and said with absolute certainty, "We’ve been childhood friends for well over a hundred years, never once being apart!"

The implication was that under this bond and affection, they were inseparable.

Thus, naturally, Merica belonged to her.

Shane had something to say about this.

"So, you’re just childhood friends, right?" Shane looked at Genom and shrugged, "Since you’re just Merica’s childhood friend, not her mom, I honestly can’t agree with you taking her away without a word."

"You...!" Genom was immediately infuriated.

It was then that Merica finally realized what was happening.

"Why are you guys fighting?" Merica hurriedly intervened, "Calm down! Mr. Xi’en! Genom!"

Neither Shane nor Genom paid any attention to Merica’s words.

At this point, the two of them were glaring at each other, their gazes fiercely rubbing together, sparks seeming to fly from their colliding eyes, vividly expressing their irreconcilable differences.

Undoubtedly, Shane and Genom’s relationship had plummeted to negative figures at their very first meeting.

Genom viewed Shane as a bad guy endangering Merica, an enemy to be wary of.

Shane, for his part, was exceptionally annoyed at the elf girl for rudely interrupting his conversation with Merica, and for planning to take her away regardless of everyone else’s presence.

This set the two of them at odds with each other, in a way that seemed impossible to reconcile.

"Let go!"

Genom warned.

"No!"

Shane was naturally not about to show weakness.

"Are you going to let go?"

Magic Power was already emanating from Genom.

"Not going to."

Shane just cracked a smile, his grin relaxed and unruffled.

"..."

Genom fell silent.

"..."

Shane also fell quiet.

But, as if by some agreement, they both started pulling on Merica’s hands forcefully.

"Ah!"

Merica let out another cry of alarm.

Shane and Genom simultaneously yanked on Merica’s hands, each trying to pull her to his own side.

"Wait... wait! Mr. Xi’en! Genom!"

Merica, caught between them, hung suspended in mid-air, like a doll being tugged back and forth.

The pain was absent, at most just a little bit.

Shane and Genom had enough sense not to exert force enough to cause Merica pain.

Nevertheless, within the allowable range of force, neither was willing to compromise, silently pulling Merica towards themselves.

This left Merica somewhat disheveled and at a loss, utterly unaware of what to do.

On the side, Luoqi and the others watched the scene, all at a loss for words.

"?"

"Are they playing?"

Lilith and Milu both cocked their heads, looking utterly perplexed.

"This guy, always has to compete with little girls."

Luoqi sighed.

"That’s Mr. Xi’en for you."

Lasha commented indifferently.

Everyone could only stand by and watch, unsure whether to intervene, which made the scene somewhat awkward.

Looking at Genom, as he was pulling on Merica, he suddenly realized something.

(Merica doesn’t resist touch from an Alien Race male...?)

Genom stared intently at the hand Shane was holding Merica’s with, observing her puzzled yet completely unresisting demeanor, and finally a sense of crisis bubbled up inside him.

Considering the elves’ sanctity and their emphasis on purity, they would feel uncomfortable even if a member of the opposite sex came near, let alone touched them.

But not only was Merica not resisting, but she also seemed to be used to it.

What did this imply?

Before he could figure it out, Genom was enraged.
