Why must the devil be Defeated? -
Chapter 393 - 389 Appearance of the Enemy Shadow
Chapter 393: 389 Appearance of the Enemy Shadow
"It’s here!"
As anomalies emerged from the light source in the sky, everyone on the ground shuddered and held their breath.
Anima even drew close to Shane and whispered to him,
"If that child fails, please do not hesitate."
What she referred to, Shane naturally understood.
"Lilith, completely devoid of rationality, is but a savage Evil God, a disaster for the world, so, you don’t need to bear any psychological burden."
Anima spoke thus in Shane’s ear, her voice gentle and kind, giving the impression of a mother’s encompassing embrace.
Yet, Shane did not respond to Anima’s words.
He himself didn’t know if he could truly bring himself to destroy the True Seal he had entrusted to Jade if she indeed failed.
Essentially, Shane was a person with a keen objective acceptance.
So, if Jade did fail, he would accept the outcome and would not make a desperate struggle simply because he was unwilling to face reality or because he had not given up hope.
But acceptance is one thing, not struggling for life is another; that didn’t mean Shane would simply give up and destroy the True Seal.
Perhaps, by then, Jade would indeed be gone, and Lilith would become a genuine malice, but as long as the True Seal remained, Lilith could be resurrected by his side, couldn’t she?
At that time, maybe Lilith’s rationality would revive along with her, and being rejected by her, Jade would reemerge?
Given this, Shane had made up his mind.
"If she truly fails, then I will slay Lilith here, but I will not destroy the True Seal."
Saying such words that left Anima speechless, Shane turned to look at Ai Yi.
Receiving Shane’s gaze, Ai Yi naturally knew what he meant to say.
"I can," Ai Yi said decisively, "I will take action when the time comes."
Only then did Shane feel relieved.
Subduing Lilith on his own would be incredibly difficult.
But with Ai Yi’s assistance, it would be much simpler.
From their previous clash, Shane knew that Lilith, bereft of reason, had a severe weakness: once in battle, she would indiscriminately squander her power without any adaptability.
With such a weakness known, Shane and Ai Yi together should be capable of subduing her.
Thus, everyone stared intently at the light source in the sky and fell silent.
In the sky, the luminosity breaking through the light source grew increasingly abundant and bright, creating vortex-like swirling clouds amidst the thundering heavens.
Within the swirling clouds, a beam of light shone down, engulfing the light source.
Soon, the light source trembled violently, and at its most intense shaking, it collapsed as if it had reached its limit.
Consequently, like snow melting under sunlight, scattering like snowflakes, the light source gradually disintegrated.
Inside appeared a tiny Goddess with twelve Black Wings and draped in a vestment robe.
Seeing the diminutive Goddess, everyone’s eyes widened.
For they realized that the previously furious and tumultuous Evil Energy had become as serene as a silent darkness, gently undulating around the petite Goddess, appearing exceedingly tame.
If the former Evil Energy was a natural disaster, like a storm, a flood, or an avalanche, then now, it was the beautiful scene after a storm.
Tranquil, peaceful, clear, and unfathomable—that was its current portrayal.
Everyone then shared a feeling.
"This is the Goddess."
Yes, this was the Goddess.
Sacred and inviolable.
Emerging unsullied from mire.
Standing apart from the world.
Beautiful, pure, natural.
This was the current Lilith.
"Whoosh!"
Suddenly, Lilith in mid-air disappeared.
She became a shadowy light, as if transcending the confines of time and space, instantly materializing in front of Shane.
Taken aback by the suddenness, the people were unable to react.
Even Shane just felt a dimming before his eyes, followed swiftly by the appearance of the girl.
"Thump!"
The next second, amidst a muffled sound, the tiny Goddess collided with Shane.
"Guh...!"
Shane let out a sound, as he was knocked to the ground.
"Hey!"
"Mr. Xi’en!"
Laischa and Lasha simultaneously changed their expressions.
"Danger... Danger...?"
Iris, the most faint-hearted, cried out in alarm, falling flat to the ground.
Only Ai Yi and Anima appeared to sense something, one relaxing her expression, the other showing a look of joy.
In this moment, Shane felt his body embraced by a small form.
Shane quickly grasped what was happening.
His heart finally settled as he lowered his head to look into his arms.
There, the little Goddess held him tightly, her noble head gently lifting, letting her hair, resplendent in color, flutter in the wind, while a pair of large amethyst eyes stared into his.
Those eyes, as calm and composed as ever, clearly displayed Shane’s reflection as if nothing else existed within them but Shane alone.
"Jade?"
Shane wrapped his arms around the tiny Goddess, hesitated for a moment, then tentatively called out.
In response, the Goddess continued to gaze at him, and after a long moment, her rosy lips slightly parted.
"Lilith..."
The voice Shane had only heard once before emanated from the little goddess.
"My name... Lilith..."
It was a simple and unremarkable sentence, strained in pronunciation yet pleasant to the ear, and devoid of anything else.
But that phrase made Shane laugh, and it also brought joy to the faces of those around him, prompting laughter to follow.
"It... it worked!"
Iris was the first to cheer.
"To think it actually worked..."
Laischa still seemed in disbelief.
"Congratulations."
Lasha voiced succinctly.
"Thank goodness."
Anima, too, couldn’t hide the emotion on her face, seemingly relieved for the return of a Divine Race kin that had been awaited for ten thousand years.
Even Ai Yi said something.
"It seems the strongest Evil God has returned."
This Evil God, who once caused the greatest disaster and turned the earth into purgatory, had finally returned to her original form as she should have at birth.
It also meant that a goddess capable of rivaling a demon had emerged in this world.
"I really don’t know if I should frankly be happy about this."
Ai Yi said such a thing, but seeing her relaxed expression, she must not have taken the matter too seriously, right?
Unfortunately, what she thought didn’t seem important to the current Jade... no, it should be said to Lilith.
Lilith was simply looking at the human man before her, memorizing his genuine smile as if to remember it forever, his face reflected continuously in her amethyst-like pupils.
And it lingered, without dissipating.
...
"Hum!"
The transparent barrier that enveloped the Cosmos slowly vanished at this moment.
"My God..."
"The Cosmos..."
"Disappeared...?"
The people who had fled to the outskirts of the city finally got a glimpse of the inside of the barrier, staring at the ruins of the desolate wasteland, each of them stunned into silence.
They would not know what had happened.
They would not understand the cause and effect.
They could only stand there, bewildered, not knowing how much time had passed, still unable to come to their senses.
No one noticed that on the peak of a high mountain some distance from the Cosmos, there stood a person at the edge of the cliff, observing everything below.
"It seems to be over."
The tall woman, clad only in a white garment like a ghost, barefoot with pale skin and long straight black hair, appeared disheartened, with clear displeasure on her face.
"So all that commotion, and it only destroyed one city, with hardly any serious casualties. This action was a complete failure."
The woman seemed dissatisfied with the outcome.
A voice replied to her.
"Indeed it was a failure, but it’s not that there were no serious casualties. My ’Mirage’ was almost wiped out, with all members sacrificed, none survived."
As he said this, a refined and scholarly Demon Clan man appeared behind the woman.
If Shane and the others were here, they would surely be surprised.
Because this refined and scholarly Demon Clan man was Danass, whose head had been chopped off by Shane.
Danass brought his four Demon Warriors and gracefully made his appearance here.
"I told you before that leaving that rational Half Body might lead to accidents, but you wouldn’t believe me, and now look, all you’ve done is provide someone else with a wedding dress, my ally."
Danass spread his hands and spoke as if helplessly.
At this, the woman puffed her cheeks and voiced her dissatisfaction.
"Isn’t it because the Magic Life you lent me was too useless, letting them find a noble of the Mitra Kingdom to dispose of the Half Body and make the Beastman Priest enemies with the Mitra Kingdom? Who knew they would choose such a problematic target?"
The woman huffed, her words cold and indifferent.
"You still hate the Hero so much, hate his kingdom, don’t you?"
Danass seemed resigned to the woman’s actions.
"Do you not hate it?" Her expression changed as she looked at Danass, "I know very well, you’re not really the chief of the ’Mirage’ are you?"
"No, I am indeed the chief of the ’Mirage’, there’s no doubt about that." Danass looked at her and chuckled lightly, "It’s just an identity I use when I’m on the move, a personal force I built while making my way in the world."
"No wonder." The woman suddenly realized and smiled, "I was wondering how the son of the Primordial Demon chief would bizarrely wander around with a ’Mirage’."
"What I didn’t expect was that this wandering would lead me to you, betrayed by the Hero." Danass suddenly smiled, "So, that’s a pretty good gain, isn’t it?"
"Indeed, this time isn’t completely without gains." The woman turned her head, looking in the direction of the Cosmos, "At least, we’ve discovered a good secret."
"Yes." The warmth on Danass’s face turned cold as he spoke indifferently, "Unexpectedly, after all this time, another Hero has been summoned to this world."
"Yes." The woman’s face remained smiling, but like Danass, it turned very cold and ruthless, "How nice, another target for revenge has appeared."
"Let’s go," Danass said to the woman, "You’ve agreed to join us after this operation."
"Don’t worry, I remember." The woman’s face was nonchalant.
For her, it truly didn’t matter.
"As long as I can destroy the Mitra Kingdom, destroy the Hero, even if it’s hell, I’ll follow."
The woman’s voice vibrated the atmosphere, shaking the mountain itself.
"Good."
Danass’s cold smile finally brightened.
The two then left together, as if they had never been there.
