Why must the devil be Defeated?
Chapter 375 - 372 dug up a love triangle?

Chapter 375: 372 dug up a love triangle?

"He... he’s okay, right?"

Mafi’s voice couldn’t help but tremble as she watched Oz convulsing on the ground.

No choice.

She had seen with her own eyes how Shane had knocked out Oz.

Yes, knocked out.

Even though the opponent was a physically superior Beastman and Oz was a Level 90 Beastman possessed of unparalleled brute strength, Shane showed no fear and pressed the attack, engaging Oz in close combat.

Of course, this wasn’t the kind of close combat where blows are exchanged; it was a one-sided pummeling by Shane.

Strong?

Isn’t it fine if you don’t get hit?

Superior physical ability?

Shane, who used "Extreme Transformation," wasn’t the least bit inferior, right?

Plus, Oz had lost his reason and was only wildly attacking, not defending. All Shane needed to do was dodge all of Oz’s attacks with "Instant Movement" and punch him repeatedly in the head—how could he not knock him out?

Poor Oz, perhaps the top expert of the Beastman Race, was just knocked over by Shane’s punches. It’s fortunate that no one else was here to see this; otherwise, it might have become a lifelong shame for this proud Werewolf.

Shane didn’t care about these things, sheathing the Holy Sword, he began to speak.

"Don’t worry, I didn’t hurt him, but he had already been attacked by those four black-clad men from the Old Demon Clan Faction, he had sustained quite a few injuries and his soul had been corrupted by evil energy, he lost his rationality, his condition definitely won’t be too good."

Presumably, Oz was gradually corrupted by the evil energy during his fight with the Old Demon Clan Faction and went berserk?

Otherwise, the people from the Old Demon Clan Faction wouldn’t have troubled Oz. If Oz had lost his reason from the beginning, then he must have been used by them to guard the Temple—they wouldn’t fight with a berserk creature that had lost its reason.

"Probably, after you all scattered, Oz went to the Temple by himself, intending to attack the Old Demon Clan Faction but was discovered by them and they sent those four black-clad men to assassinate him. As they fought, Oz went mad and ended up bringing the fight to us, and now it has turned into this."

Shane shrugged his shoulders, sharing his speculation.

"This guy, so reckless."

Mafi gritted her teeth in frustration, not doubting Shane’s words.

After all, from what she knew about Oz, this was indeed something that the simple-minded Werewolf with well-developed limbs would do.

This time, if it hadn’t been for the luck of meeting Shane, the Werewolf would probably have been done for.

But now, the situation wasn’t much better.

At this point, Mafi looked at Shane, her eyes showing a trace of pleading.

"Save him, right? I understand!"

Shane rolled his eyes and reached out to Oz.

"Star-Blowing Breath (Celestial Breathe)."

Once again, Shane performed the nearly omnipotent recovery Celestial Magic, calling forth a dense shower of starlight that fell upon Oz and Mafi.

The starlight melded into the bodies of both Beastmen, not only healing the wounds on Oz’s body but also relieving Mafi of the oppression in her heart—the corruption from the evil energies was swept away.

"Ugh..."

Oz finally uttered a groan of discomfort and slowly opened his eyes.

"Are you okay, Oz!"

Mafi hurriedly called out to him.

"Ma... Mafi?"

Oz didn’t expect to see Mafi the moment he opened his eyes; his face brightened with joy.

But the next second, when he saw Shane standing behind Mafi, the joy on his face froze and turned into rage.

"You dare to show your face...!?"

Oz immediately bellowed, leaping up from the ground.

"Wait! Oz!"

Mafi quickly called out but couldn’t stop Oz.

"Return the Holy Daughter to us!"

Oz, furious, prepared to swing a punch at Shane.

Unfortunately...

"Grant·Weakness."

"Grant·Fatigue."

"Grant·Paralysis."

"Imposition·Stiffness."

Without a word, Shane cast several spells at once on Oz, imposing various negative status effects on him.

"Guh...!"

Instantly, Oz howled in dismay, his entire body turned languid as if he were seriously ill, and he collapsed back to the ground.

"Damn it... resorting to these cheap tricks again...!?"

Lying on the ground, Oz felt as if he were a toothless tiger, feeble and weak all over.

Yet, even so, Oz glared venomously at Shane, looking as if he wished he could tear a chunk of flesh from his body.

Seeing Oz like this, Shane, on the other hand, felt reassured.

"That’s right, this is the normal reaction you Beastman Priests should have when you see me."

Shane felt oddly satisfied for no apparent reason.

Mafi had nothing to say; she could only keep giving a wry smile.

Oz, however, had yet to realize that something was amiss and desperately yelled at Mafi, who was smiling wryly.

"Mafi! Run for it! Find everyone! Then think of a way to save the Holy Daughter!"

The big oaf was one step away from adding, "You go first, I’ll cover for you."

Shane found this amusing.

"Hey, dumb wolf, I saved you, and you don’t thank me, fine, but you still look at me like I’m the enemy? Come on, that’s not fair," Shane teased the werewolf.

"Pah!" Oz was indeed simple-minded, not only did he not believe Shane’s words but also spat in disdain, "You save me? I bet you’re just waiting for us to die! Give the Holy Daughter back to us, now!"

Oz looked furiously agitated.

Clearly, the werewolf cared deeply about Iris’s safety.

"You’re in such a hurry; it can’t just be loyalty, can it?" Shane squatted in front of Oz, poking his head with the hilt of the Holy Sword, and said with a teasing smile, "Don’t tell me, you actually have a thing for the Holy Daughter?"

"Wha...!?" Oz’s eyes widened instantly, and his square face turned beet red.

Seeing this, Shane got the picture.

"Did I hit the nail on the head?" Shane said half in surprise, half in jest, "Seeing as you’re so easy to read, how about I take you back too, get you alone with Iris, and then you’ll have your chance for some romantic whispers? You two can get up to all those jealousy-inducing things, how about that?"

"You... you... shut up...!" Flustered and visibly shaken, Oz stammered, "Don’t... don’t defile my honor! And don’t speak nonsense! The Holy Daughter is pure and immaculate! I have no such improper thoughts!"

"Is that so?" Shane said playfully, "Since you’re not interested, maybe I should take her instead. I bet the pure and immaculate Holy Daughter would taste pretty good, huh?"

"You dare?!" Oz was no longer just flustered, his anger erupted, and he roared as if his sacred trust had been violated.

"Oh my, how scary." Shane said this, but his face showed no sign of fear, and he kept poking Oz’s head with the Holy Sword’s hilt, making Oz cry out in pain.

It was then that Mafi spoke up.

"Enough, Oz. Stop barking; it’s all a misunderstanding."

Mafi’s tone towards Oz seemed a bit off.

Oz the simpleton naturally couldn’t pick up on it, but Shane noticed it immediately.

Seeing Mafi’s complex expression, Shane felt intrigued.

(Could this cat-woman actually like this dumb wolf?)

Well, well, it seems I’ve inadvertently unearthed a love triangle.

As Shane pondered with a peculiar expression, Mafi explained the whole situation to Oz.

"What?" Oz exclaimed in shock, "You mean to say, the Holy Daughter ventured alone into the Temple?"

Yep, compared to the fact that Shane indeed saved him, and Mafi too, this dumb wolf could now only remember that detail.

"That’s correct," Mafi said with a complex expression yet very solemnly, "Lady Iris must have foreseen something through her prayers, which is why she suddenly ran off into the Temple, trying to stop the Old Demon Clan Faction from releasing more Evil Creatures."

Otherwise, if the multitude of ancient beings turned into Evil Creatures were to burst forth, mindlessly attacking and destroying everything, even if Evil God Lilith wasn’t freed, the Human Realm would still face a great disaster.

"You... how do you even look at people...!?"

Understanding this, Oz glared angrily at Shane again.

"Are you blaming me for not keeping a closer watch on her?"

Shane tugged at the corner of his mouth, and with a sudden thrust of the Holy Sword’s hilt into Oz’s forehead, causing him to howl in pain, then he finally spoke.

"Should I be blaming you guys for not guarding the Temple properly, which allowed the Old Demon Clan Faction to take over?"

At those words, Oz wanted to retort, but Mafi stopped him.

"Alright, Oz, the most important thing now is to hurry up and find Lady Iris. Otherwise, she may be in great danger," Mafi said.

"Right! Find her first!"

Oz finally snapped out of it and nodded repeatedly.

"You guys still aren’t giving up?" Shane said incredulously, "I told you, stay in this Temple too long and you’ll go crazy. Still, you ignore that and keep dashing inside. Are all Beastmen this stupid?"

These two didn’t seem to consider their own safety at all, which really made one wonder whether to call them fools or recklessly brave.

But obviously, it wasn’t about being heedless—they considered Iris’s safety above everything else.

"Knowing that the Holy Daughter we serve is in danger and not rushing to her aid would indeed be reckless as Beastman Priests."

"No matter what, we must rescue Lady Iris!"

Mafi and Oz made their stance clear without any hesitation.

"Fine, if you’re not afraid, then I naturally won’t bother saying anything," Shane said indifferently, "But the Old Demon Clan Faction is my target too, so don’t get in my way, alright?"

Shane’s words were met with an open mouth from Oz.

But before Oz could speak, Mafi cut him off, assuring Shane.

"Don’t worry, we won’t hinder you."

Thoughtful and calculated, Mafi understood clearer than the impulsive Oz that working with Shane, given the current situation, was all gain and no loss.

Even if Shane didn’t assist them, as long as he could help them prevent being corrupted by Evil Energy, that would be enough for them.

"Then let’s go."

Shane stood up and waved his hand, dispelling the magic cast on Oz.

Oz then hurriedly got up, snorting coldly and said,

"I certainly won’t thank you!"

Thank you for your tsundere act.

Too bad you’re not a girl, but a rough guy.

A guy’s tsundere-ness is worth nothing.

So, get lost as far as you can.
