Chapter 376: 373 is like the center of the typhoon

Next, Shane joined forces with Oz and Mafi in their actions.

However, when the three of them moved together, preparing to delve deeper into the Temple to confront the approaching evil creatures, they suddenly discovered that those evil creatures were completely ignoring them. Some howled and brushed past them, while others simply fought each other, no longer pouncing upon any humans they saw like before.

Their behavior was as if they couldn’t see Shane and his companions at all, which was surprising to the trio.

"What’s going on here?"

Oz intentionally threw a punch at one of the evil creatures, blasting its head clean off, yet it didn’t even glance at Oz, leaving him astonished.

"Can they really not see us?"

Shane too swayed in front of a few evil creatures, and just like with Oz, they didn’t even give him a glance, instead charging at each other, embroiled in mutual slaughter.

The situation was truly baffling.

Only Mafi, after furrowing his brows a few times, finally spoke up thoughtfully.

"Could it be the work of someone from the Old Demon Clan Faction?"

That’s what Mafi put forward.

"The Old Demon Clan Faction?" Oz asked with confusion, "How could they do that?"

How indeed?

That was a question Mafi couldn’t answer.

But Mafi knew, it definitely had something to do with the Old Demon Clan Faction.

The reason was simple.

"I’ve always wondered why the Old Demon Clan Faction would want to use evil creatures to defend the Temple," said Mafi, "These creatures are mad demons, stripped of reason, and driven to destroy everything in sight, offering no mercy even to other mad demons."

In such a case, logically, the first to be attacked by the evil creatures once released should have been the Old Demon Clan Faction themselves.

Yet, the Old Demon Clan Faction appeared fearless, not only liberally unleashing the evil creatures but also moving freely in the Temple teeming with them, which was very strange.

Furthermore...

"The Temple has already been filled with Evil Energy; every person who enters should suffer the most severe corruption by it, without exception."

As Mafi said this, he couldn’t help but glance at Shane, but quickly diverted his gaze and continued, "Yet, the Old Demon Clan Faction shows no fear of this, occupying the Temple without any worries of their own corruption by the Evil Energy into senseless evil creatures. Why is that?"

Hearing this, Shane also fell into contemplation.

Indeed, there were some inexplicable aspects in the actions of the Old Demon Clan Faction.

Before, Shane hadn’t noticed, but now, with Mafi’s prompting, he too felt there was something fishy.

Add to that the Old Demon Clan Faction’s desire to break the sealing of the Evil God Lilith, a seal personally cast by the Three Great Goddesses that couldn’t possibly be broken by ordinary means, yet the Old Demon Clan Faction dared to tamper with it, clearly indicating they possessed some extraordinary methods.

But what were those methods?

No one knew.

But Shane had an idea.

"Do you mean the Old Demon Clan Faction not only has a method to break the sealing but also a way to control evil creatures and avoid being corrupted by the Evil Energy?"

Shane guessed what Mafi was getting at.

"That’s right." Mafi nodded, adding, "Otherwise, it’s impossible to rationalize the actions taken by the Old Demon Clan Faction."

If they had no method to avoid corruption by the Evil Energy, the Old Demon Clan Faction wouldn’t dare to brazenly occupy the Temple and plan to release Evil God Lilith.

If they had no means to control the evil creatures, the Old Demon Clan Faction would be the first target of the creatures’ attacks.

It was precisely because the Old Demon Clan Faction had these methods that they dared to concoct plans involving Evil God Lilith, occupying this place with such audacity, and releasing so many evil creatures.

Now, if the evil creatures here were ignoring Shane and others and simply passing by, the only possibility was that someone from the Old Demon Clan Faction was responsible.

So, the question then arose.

"If this is really Old Demon Clan Faction commanding these evil creatures, allowing them to ignore us, is that equivalent to letting us pass?" Shane speculated with a hint of amusement, "Is he welcoming us? Wanting us to find him?"

"That should be the case." After pondering for a moment, Mafi affirmed Shane’s assumption, saying, "Perhaps it’s because you drove away those four from the Old Demon Clan Faction; they realize that ordinary evil creatures are no match for you. You would eventually reach their location, so they simply let us through."

Before Shane could respond, Oz burst out angrily.

"Does that mean the guy is looking down on us?"

Oz slammed his hand with force, looking visibly frustrated.

"He must truly be fearless if he knows we’ve broken in and yet lets us through."

Mafi’s expression was grave.

After all, if the opponents were indeed fearless, it meant that the Old Demon Clan Faction still had some trump cards they hadn’t played.

It could be something very lethal, very terrifying; it was no wonder Mafi felt this gravity.

In contrast, Shane, looking at the corridor ahead, suddenly voiced out.

"Why don’t you say that they simply need me and that’s why they let us through?"

Shane’s remark was abrupt.

"Need you?"

Mafi froze for a moment, then as if realizing something, his expression changed.

That’s right, they did have a need for Shane.

"He must have known that I have the power to directly break the seal, so after finding out I was coming, he chose to let us pass, right?"

Shane’s expression became increasingly amused, even to the point of being somewhat ironic.

Yet his words were undoubtedly accurate.

As mentioned before, the Old Demon Clan Faction did not have a method to directly break the seal, and until now had no choice but to try to slowly unravel it.

In such a case, if the people of the Old Demon Clan Faction knew someone capable of directly breaking the seal had arrived here, then they would definitely want that person to go over and help them break the seal.

This was the purpose behind the opponent controlling evil creatures, letting them ignore Shane and the others, allowing Shane to proceed.

"I’m actually curious to see which member of the Old Demon Clan would do such a thing."

Shane seemed to have become somewhat curious, walking forward.

Oz and Mafi exchanged glances, their eyes revealing a hint of heaviness.

It couldn’t be helped.

They did not know if Shane would really help the other party to break the seal.

After all, wasn’t there a precedent with Shane?

Having witnessed that scene, wouldn’t anyone be worried?

"Let’s go." Mafi took a deep breath and said, "If he really wanted to destroy the seal, he could have done so last time, but he chose to give up, which proves that he is not indifferent to the consequences of the seal being broken."

Therefore, Mafi still held some hope for Shane.

"Hopefully," Oz didn’t dispute Mafi’s point, but he didn’t feel relieved either; instead, he spoke with annoyance, "But this person is too arbitrary, which feels very difficult to control."

The problem raised by Oz was also something Mafi worried about.

Although they had not been acquainted for long, Mafi could see that this young human noble had an extremely difficult to control aspect.

To put it nicely, it was called forthrightness, but to put it unpleasantly, it was capriciousness, with the potential to turn hostile at any moment.

Moreover, despite his youth, he was not easy to fool.

It wasn’t that Shane was so clever, but rather, his actions were always unpredictable, potentially throwing already occurring situations into chaos, leaving people at a loss for what to do.

Such a person must be the nightmare of many who consider themselves smart enough to control the overall situation, right?

However, his impact wasn’t necessarily all good; it could also be bad.

In short, this person was both righteous and evil; having been their enemy just before and now helping them, he showed compassion for the evil creatures, aiding them in liberation, yet he also had the arrogance to involve everyone in the events he caused, like the center of a typhoon, where everything it passed was utterly destroyed, leaving only the eye to direct all, blowing people wherever it wanted, completely unpredictable.

This made it hard for others to feel secure, not knowing what he might do next.

"When did such a terrifying person emerge among the human race?"

Mafi exclaimed this sentiment.

Now, Mafi only hoped that the other party wouldn’t be too reckless.

If, spurred by a whim, he collaborated with the Old Demon Clan Faction to break the seal and released Evil God Lilith, that would be a nightmare.

Oz, unlike Mafi, didn’t think so much but also knew one thing.

"When necessary, even at the cost of our lives, we must stop him."

Oz was prepared to do just that.

"You’re right."

Mafi immediately relaxed his facial expression and nodded his head.

Thus, the two followed Shane, and under his lead, they passed by the roaring evil creatures.

Before long, the trio smoothly arrived at the depths of the Temple.

...

"------------■■■■■■■■■■■■■■------------"

As Shane and his companions entered the grand hall of the Temple, the first thing that reached their ears was a series of indistinguishable sounds.

It was the noise of many people chanting spells.

In the center of the hall, surrounding the crystal that sealed the scarred girl, various members of the Old Demon Clan wearing black robes were kneeling in a circle on the ground.

They knelt in an orderly fashion, chanting cryptic spells, while their magic power turned into streams of black energy, flowing into the crystal.

Accompanying the actions of the Old Demon Clan Faction, the crystal, which had been repaired with only one crack remaining, now inexplicably sported numerous fine cracks.

Clearly, those Old Demon Clan Faction members were breaking the seal.

What they were doing was holding a magic ceremony to remove the seal.

During that ceremony, not only was the crystal continuously cracking, endless evil energy was emerging from the cracks, spreading around.

Furthermore, evil creatures were burrowing out from under the crystal, like ghosts climbing out from hell, roaring and rushing forth.

"What are you doing!?"

"Stop it!"

Seeing this, Oz and Mafi instantly got fired up and wanted to stop them.

But before they could, Shane blocked their way.

"Don’t panic," Shane said with a smirk. "The main event is about to start."

As soon as Shane’s words fell, a laughter echoed.
