Chapter 399: Match Made In Heaven

The four of them spent the rest of the afternoon indulging in the fun attractions the resort had to offer, starting from jet skiing, paddle boarding, to parasailing. They only called for a break when the sun gracefully dipped towards the horizon, painting the sky with the splash of orange, blue and purple.

Along with the night’s descent, the temperature in the area began to drop rapidly, and so as to not catch a cold, they opted to retreat to their rooms to take a hot shower first before coming out for dinner.

Jin Jiuchi and Shen Nianzu naturally shared a room, while Noir and Gu Luoxin each had a room for themselves. That was why Noir and Gu Luoxin’s rooms were side by side, a mere wall apart. Meanwhile, Jin Jiuchi and Shen Nianzu’s room was on a separate floor.

As the agreed-upon hour approached, Gu Luoxin fixed his hair in front of the mirror, secured a cyan hairclip on his bangs that had become his signature for years before straightening his clothes. Shen Nianzu, his tyrannical leader, had banned him from wearing his usual hoodies on this trip. Thus right now, Gu Luoxin was wearing a sky blue dress shirt paired with short pants and sandals.

He stepped out of the room, and at the same time the door next door also swung open.

"S–Senior!" Gu Luoxin greeted him with a touch too much enthusiasm, feeling nervous all of a sudden. "You’re here!"

"Mn," Noir responded, closing the door behind him. Unable to resist, Gu Luoxin found himself studying the man’s appearance from head to toe. Noir sported a black turtleneck sweater, jeans and sneakers, looking no different than his usual self yet somehow... twice more gorgeous. Gu Luoxin struggled to pinpoint the reason why, and it took him a few seconds of intense staring to realize that... Noir had styled his hair and changed his earrings!

His once tousled curls looked neater than usual with one side of the bangs suavely swept backwards, revealing double chain earrings that emitted a soft tinkling sound with every move he made.

Damn it, this was borderline illegal! How could he look so hot just by tidying his appearance for a bit?! Would Gu Luoxin’s appearance index also increase if he were to pierce his ears?

Noticing his gaze, Noir raised a brow and asked, "Do you want?"

Gu Luoxin jolted back to reality and stammered, "W–Want what?"

Noir gestured to his own ear, causing Gu Luoxin to blush because ahhh, he was caught ogling at the other person! He only hoped that his expression did not look as foolish as he’d feared. Clearing his throat, Gu Luoxin mumbled, "N–No, I just thought... it looks cool..."

Of course, it only looked cool on Noir. If it were Shang Hao in front of him right now, Gu Luoxin would have mocked his attempt to pose like a cool kid when it made him look like a thug instead.

"Thank you," Noir unexpectedly said, catching Gu Luoxin off guard. "I made them myself."

"You made them?!" Gu Luoxin’s admiration surged. "Wait, you’re in the Sculpture Department so it’s no wonder that you’re good with your hands— wait, is that even included in the curriculum?" He pondered out loud, but this time Noir no longer satisfied his curiosity. Instead, the man walked toward the elevator, forcing Gu Luoxin to jog after him.

"Senior, wait for me!"

The two of them rode the elevator to the lobby, but they saw no signs of Jin Jiuchi and Gu Luoxin anywhere. Upon checking his phone, Gu Luoxin found a message from the silver-haired man. "Oh, they’re going to be a little late. Should we head to the restaurant first?"

Noir nodded in agreement, and side by side, they made their way to the restaurant.

Earlier, Gu Luoxin had not paid attention to his surroundings as he was busy replying to Shen Nianzu on his phone, but now he realized that people had started to crowd into the hotel, mostly couples and families.

And in the middle of them all, there were Noir and Gu Luoxin— who couldn’t even be considered friends.

Once again, nervousness settled in the pit of Gu Luoxin’s stomach, causing his palms to grow clammy. He couldn’t help but wonder. In others’ eyes, did they appear out of place, or... would they be mistaken as another couple on a date?

No, what are you thinking, Gu Luoxin?! Snap out of it! How could you and Noir—

"Welcome," the staff greeted them cheerfully at the front door. "Table for two? We have a special discount for couples, and even more if you show us your student IDs. Would you like that?"

Gu Luoxin’s gaze shot to the staff in the mixture of panic and bewilderment. W-What did she just say? Couple?? Did he and Noir really give off that impression?! Beads of sweat trickled down Gu Luoxin’s back as he sensed Noir’s gaze on him, as if waiting for him to make a decision. But how could he, when he was on the verge of passing out due to the tension?!

Fortunately, before Gu Luoxin could make a joke out of himself again, a familiar voice rescued him from the brink, "No need. We have a reservation under Mr. Shen Nianzu."

Xiao Shen—!

It was not exaggerating to say that Gu Luoxin’s current mental state was just like a fish that was thrown back into water. Tension melted away from his shoulders and he could finally breathe again. He mentally noted to himself not to be alone with Noir again in the future, as it was truly not good for his sanity!

Turning around, Gu Luoxin was ready to address his teammates, but his words abruptly morphed into a single awed exclamation, "Wow!"

Shen Nianzu was already fashionable to begin with, but tonight, he was on a different level altogether. Draped in a light purple silk blouse that looked far more expensive than Gu Luoxin’s entire wardrobe combined and high-waisted pants, Shen Nianzu was drop-dead gorgeous. Even more so when he had intentionally curled his silver hair, making them look extra voluminous and fluffy. It framed his exquisite face perfectly, accentuated by hoop earrings and make-up that highlighted the rare hue of his eyes. To complete the look, he even wore ankle strap heels!

"Wow, Xiao Shen is so pretty! You look like an elf straight out of a fantasy movie!" Gu Luoxin praised without reservation.

"I know, right?" With an arm encircling Shen Nianzu’s waist, Jin Jiuchi nuzzled his cheek on the jade doll’s crown from behind and sighed wistfully, "Nian’er is too dazzling, I feel like I’m going blind soon."

"Hush," Shen Nianzu jabbed his side with an elbow, a light blush gracing his cheeks. "How many times are you going to repeat it?"

Gu Luoxin was too focused on Shen Nianzu that he failed to take in Jin Jiuchi’s appearance, and when he did, his jaws practically hit the ground in shock. "Da Shen...?!"

As far as he knew, Jin Jiuchi always dressed casually and emitted an air of frivolousness. But now, he had shed off his usual style and donned a suit.

A formal suit— with white shirt, black jacket, slacks, and dress shoes, no less!

He had foregone the tie and popped out the first two buttons of his shirt, revealing a glimpse of his sculpted chest. The reason behind it might be because he disliked being suffocated, yet it only added to his wild charm.

Who the hell was this scum gentleman in front of him?

Clicking his tongue, Jin Jiuchi raked his fingers through his hair and pretended to be in trouble, "What is it? Did you get bedazzled by my handsomeness?"

"Well," Gu Luoxin couldn’t help but comment, "Clothes really do make the man."

"Hey!" Jin Jiuchi exclaimed, affronted.

"Mr. Shen?" The staff addressed them with doubled politeness. "We have confirmed your reservation. Please follow me."

As they were escorted through the restaurant hall, Gu Luoxin noticed that all eyes were on the captivating couple before him, filled with awe, intrigue and curiosity. He did not blame them, though. He would have reacted the same if he were in their shoes. Staring at their backs, Gu Luoxin was unexpectedly overcome with a strange sense of pride and perhaps... a touch of envy.

They really are a match made in heaven, he mused. Sigh... when will it be my turn to glow up?
