Chapter 398: Must Go Swimming!

"Oh, I see them!"

Gu Luoxin lit up at the sight of his teammates emerging from the water, and it was not exaggerating to say that he looked at them like how one would look at their savior. Jumping to his feet, he waved energetically, "Xiao Shen, Da Shen, over here!"

Only God knew what kind of ordeal he had endured as he tagged along with Noir. As entering the water was not an option, Noir chose to lounge on the chair beneath the parasol, simply enjoying the beautiful scenery and warm breeze. Gu Luoxin would very much like to take a dip, but he did not feel right leaving Noir alone, and he couldn’t possibly intrude on the lovebirds’ personal time either or else Jin Jiuchi might very well murder him in cold blood.

And thus he could only steel himself and sit beside the emerald-eyed man, enduring the longest twenty minutes of suffocating silence in his short life before his teammates finally returned.

"Yo!" Jin Jiuchi gave a cheerful greeting as he shook the water off his body, earning him a dirty glare from Shen Nianzu. "Why are the two of you just sitting there like fools? Don’t you want to swim a bit? The water feels so nice, right, Nian’er?"

In response, Shen Nianzu merely let out a cold harrumph as he squeezed the water out of his hair.

Gu Luoxin shot Jin Jiuchi with a murderous glare. You still dare to ask?! He fumed internally. I’m not so shameless to be the third wheel, okay?!

Alas, his killing intent was not transmitted successfully as he wished, as Jin Jiuchi merely gave him a strange look. "Why are you twitching your eyes like that? Stop it, you look like a gorilla."

This little—!

Before Gu Luoxin could tackle this insufferable man to the ground and bury him under the sand, Noir rose to his feet and stated, "I’m hungry."

As if on cue, a loud growl resounded from Jin Jiuchi’s stomach.

"Me too!" He rubbed his stomach and sniffed the air like the doggy he was. "I can smell food around... there!" he pointed at the elegant glass building that stood near the resort.

Shen Nianzu announced, "Let’s go and fill our stomachs first. I have ordered a buffet for us."

"Buffet!" Jin Jiuchi and Gu Luoxin’s eyes sparkled as they gave each other a high-five, the previous altercation forgotten in the face of delicious food.

They met up with the Shen family’s driver first to collect their room cards before proceeding to the glass building where lunch was served.

Time passed in a boisterous and lively manner as the four of them indulged in various sumptuous cuisines and fresh seafood. They talked about everything and anything, and even the taciturn Noir seemed to be opening up a bit as he chimed in once in a while, even though his replies consisted of short and curt sentences.

After stuffing their bellies full, they exited the glass building, and it was then that Gu Luoxin caught sight of a brochure near the entrance he had overlooked earlier.

"Look, there will be a firework show, live performances, and free drinks tonight! Oh wait, I’ve sworn off alcohol in my life..." he wilted at once upon recalling the vow he had made when he humiliated himself in front of Noir. However, the vacation vibe was too hard to resist, and soon Gu Luoxin found himself tempted. "But I should be able to drink a bit, right? Not too much. Just a liiiitle bit." He pinched his fingers to emphasize his point, but Noir immediately shot down his plea.

"No."

"N–No?!"

The emerald-eyed man leveled him with an unimpressed look. "Have you forgotten the last time you drank?"

Of course, Gu Luoxin still remembered. He doubted he would ever forget that event for as long as he lived, but... "It should be fine if I limit myself to one cup, right?" he tried to appeal. When Noir remained unyielding, Gu Luoxin was forced to turn to his leader for support. "Xiao Shen, I— ahh!!"

He cried out in surprise when Shen Nianzu, who had been talking to Jin Jiuchi in whispers, suddenly approached and swept him off his feet, in a very literal sense!

"X–Xiao Shen?!" Gu Luoxin scrambled to hold onto his shoulders for purchase, his eyes wide in shock at the unexpected movement.

W–What was going on? Why would Shen Nianzu carry him all of a sudden? And oh God, Jin Jiuchi was doing the same to Noir, but unlike Shen Nianzu’s normal style, Jin Jiuchi tossed Noir, a tall man almost 190 centimeters in height, over his shoulder like a potato sack and took off straight toward the sea like an arrow released from its bow!

"Woo-hoo!!!" Jin Jiuchi’s exuberant cry reverberated in the air, at the same time with Noir’s furious curse, "You’re fucking dead!"

"AHH—!" Gu Luoxin screamed on top of his lungs when Shen Nianzu broke into a run following Jin Jiuchi.

The strength of an Elite player couldn’t be underestimated; Gu Luoxin felt a powerful force propelling his body forward, and the next thing he knew, he was soaring through the air before plummeting right into the sea with a loud splash!

Fortunately, the water level was not deep. Gu Luoxin merely choked on a mouthful of water before he found his way to the surface. He burst out just in time to hear Jin Jiuchi’s gleeful laughter booming, "Hahaha, you’re at a beach so you must go swimming! What the hell are you doing just sitting like a wooden block?"

Oh no, Great God... he really hated water!

Heart leaping to his throat, Gu Luoxin turned to the direction of the voice to find Noir rising from the water. He was drenched from head to toe, his once fluffy curls plastered flatly onto his face. His deadpan expression radiated a thick desire for blood as he fixed his gaze on Jin Jiuchi. Alas, his terrifying image was totally offset by the strip of seaweed clinging to his shoulder. There was even a tiny crab stuck on the seaweed, squirming around in fluster.

"Pfft...!" Gu Luoxin couldn’t contain himself as he burst out into a fit of laughter. "Hahahaha!"

Wordlessly, Noir’s gaze shifted to him, causing Gu Luoxin’s laughter to end in a hiccup. He clamped his mouth shut and desperately tried to hold in his laughter, but his trembling shoulders gave him away.

"How is it?" Jin Jiuchi grinned at Noir, wiggling his eyebrows obnoxiously. "It’s fun, isn’t it?"

Noir gracefully swept the seaweed off his body before grabbing Jin Jiuchi’s arm. Before anyone could react, he pivoted on his heels, bent his body and threw Jin Jiuchi over his shoulder, slamming the man powerfully into the water!

"Y–You...!" Jin Jiuchi choked on water, coughing. He scrambled to get to his feet, wiped the water off his face and pounced on Noir, hollering, "You’re the one who started this!"

The two tussled fiercely in the water. At least, Jin Jiuchi looked like he was having the best fun of his life, whereas Noir genuinely seemed ready to drown the other person to death. Gu Luoxin laughed so hard until his stomach ached and tears pooled in his eyes. Who could have guessed that one day he would be able to witness Noir in such a carefree state?

All of a sudden, he made eye contact with Shen Nianzu, who raised a brow at him, "What? Do you also want to get your revenge?"

"No, no!" Gu Luoxin hurriedly shook his head even though inside, he was crying for how unfair things were. "I wouldn’t dare!"

"Nian’er, Xinxin!" Jin Jiuchi painstakingly called out to them from where he was headlocked by Noir. "I saw someone riding a boat there; let’s get on one too!"

A/N: unexpectedly it’s more difficult to write them having fun than challenging the Cycles QAQ but they totally deserved it after everything they’ve been through ^^
