Chapter 188: Giant Mochi Feast!

The white cocoon floated a few meters above the ground, suspended by strands of elastic substance. The ground floor of the ship now lay in disarray, a chaotic mess with overturned chairs, tables, shattered glass, and scattered dining utensils strewn all over.

Amidst this scene, a majestic, fluffy white wolf-like dog sauntered out of the hallway. It was almost a size bigger than the average wolf, adorned with thick fur that resembled billowing clouds. When it crossed the hallway, it exuded an imposing and grand aura akin to the king of the wildlife, if not for the tail that was wagging excitedly behind his butt similar to the rotating blade of a helicopter.

Jin Jiuchi raised his head to meet Shen Nianzu’s eyes who observed him through the fifth floor. He barked happily, "Woof!" Nian’er, I’m ready!

It was unknown if Shen Nianzu truly understood him, but he gave an OK gesture. Then he looked at Gu Luoxin, who was guarding the opposite hallway, and both of them nodded in unison.

Jin Jiuchi eagerly positioned himself beneath the cocoon, gazing up at the giant sticky mass that had consumed countless NPCs. In such close proximity, he seemed to discern the outline of twisted faces and outstretched limbs of those who had desperately tried to escape, creating a macabre and nightmarish spectacle.

As Jin Jiuchi stared, he began to salivate.

’I can really eat all of this?’

In his current form, he could sense his brother’s presence clearly within him, along with hints of his feelings. There was a long-lost excitement and happiness at finally being together again, intertwined with affectionate exasperation for his gluttonous brother. Those emotions mixed in with Jin Jiuchi’s own, almost making him unable to differentiate whether they truly belonged to him or not. Perhaps this was what it meant to become one. There would always be someone by his side to accompany him, to share experiences, sights, sounds and touches. He needed not to fear that he would not fit in anywhere, that he was an odd ball amidst the foreign and unfamiliar world. This feeling was... not bad.

’Of course,’ his brother chuckled. ’Let me grab the first bite then.’

With that, Jin Jiuchi raised his front paws to cling onto the globe, lifted his head and took the first bite! In an instant, Jin Jiuchi’s eyes lit up in delight. It felt sticky, chewy and soft. This was...

’Brother, this is just like mochi! A giant size mochi feast!’

Jin Jiuchi’s tails wagged harder as he continued to bite, bite and bite! As for the cocoon, since Jin Jiuchi was staying outside and not sending himself inside, naturally it could not retaliate.

In this tense moment, each passing second was excruciatingly slow akin to half an eternity. For the first thirty seconds, there was no reaction, and they could not see Jin Jiuchi from their vantage points. Gu Luoxin was so anxious that he was biting his nails, "Xiao Shen, has something happened? Why isn’t the queen reacting ah?"

Shen Nianzu’s senses were sharper than Gu Luoxin, and thus he could faintly hear the satisfied growl and chewing sounds reverberating from below. "Wait," he said.

During this period of time, everytime people fell from upstairs, Gu Luoxin would use his bandage prop to pull them up before they could sink into the cocoon and place them in a secure area. Like this, the queen’s food source was unexpectedly cut off.

The cocoon’s massive size made it impervious to immediate reactions. For the first few minutes, it did not seem to notice anything amiss. Yet, the lack of food appeared to unsettle the queen, leading it to tremble a few more times. As a result, the cursed upstairs worked harder to toss NPCs down, but Gu Luoxin and Shen Nianzu would always intervene again and again. You throw one, I pull one. This back-and-forth cycle continued until the queen finally detected an anomaly.

By then, Jin Jiuchi had already drilled a small hole in the cocoon and was drowning happily in the sea of mochi. As he chewed, his peripheral vision caught sight of the first layer of NPCs trapped inside. These people were already dead and their flesh dried up as though all the life force in their bodies had been sucked away. When Jin Jiuchi bit into it, there was a faint crisp sound of bones breaking, and his eyes lit up even brighter.

Mochi... mochi with peanut filling!

Opening his jaws wide, he chomped down on the NPC and yanked it to him with a delightful growl. Each time he pulled one out, others would be dragged along due to the sticky strands tying them together. This time, unless the queen was foolish or blind, there was no way it would fail to detect such a huge movement.

Seething in rage, it let out another ear-piercing shriek!

’Hahahaha!’ Jin Jiuchi laughed viciously inside his heart. ’Do you think we will be fooled for the second time? This time, I am wearing earplugs!’

The screams, which had almost caused them to faint before, were now reduced to a discomforting level. Enraged, the cocoon shook wildly a few more times, and all of a sudden, the cursed ones, who had been focused on nothing but securing food, suddenly turned their attention to the atrium and jumped down to confront the insolent being who had displeased their queen!

Shen Nianzu and Gu Luoxin had been prepared for this moment. The instant they saw cursed ones coming, they instantly sprang into action!

The next few seconds could only be considered a one-sided massacre. Having not expected that they would be ambushed midway, the cursed ones were caught off guard and fell victim to Shen Nianzu’s long transparent blade. Their necks were slashed, and their blood splashed onto the cocoon, staining the pure and untainted with the filthy color of murky crimson.

Gu Luoxin did not lose out either. He used the yellowed bandages to drag the cursed ones to him, before beating the hell out of them one by one until they could not get up anymore!

However, their number was endless and they continued to plummet from the upper deck like dumplings, overwhelming Shen Nianzu and Gu Luoxin who could only work with two hands. Not only that, Shen Nianzu also had to protect Ariel who was the best source of nutrition for the queen!

Gritting his teeth, Shen Nianzu hollered at the husky below, "Hurry and eat faster!" After saying that, his expression turned complicated for a second. He did not expect that he, who advocated a healthy diet and would always force Jin Jiuchi to eat vegetables, would one day encourage him to devour this abhorrent mess into his stomach. Putting aside the psychological discomfort, Shen Nianzu continued to slash down the cursed ones with a numb expression on his face.

The two of them could not see the situation below, and thus they were unaware that the cocoon’s underside bore deep bite marks all over. The once round and smooth surface now appeared jagged, just like the pockmarked surface of the moon.

Jin Jiuchi spotted another layer of NPCs and his eyes shimmered in ravenous hunger. He leapt off the ground and chomped down on it, only to find his entire dog body dangling in midair. Black lines formed all over his forehead. Why couldn’t he pull this layer off?

Could it be... the queen was still in the middle of devouring this one? Had he finally reached where the nightmare creature was?!

With renewed vigor, Jin Jiuchi made deep growling sounds from his throat and started to snatch food from the queen!

This time, the queen finally could not tolerate this abuse any longer. It had to throw off this damn dog as soon as possible! The cocoon violently shook, and this time, it exerted enough force to pull on the sticky substance suspending it in midair! These strands connected to the banisters and walls that supported the ship’s entire structure. With the queen’s forceful pull, an ear-deafening rumble erupted as walls collapsed, and the ship’s very foundation started to crumble!

"Not good!" Shen Nianzu cried out in alarm as he grabbed onto the walls to regain his balance amidst the massive earthquake. "The ship is breaking apart!"

The destruction came hard and fast. Starting from the second and third floors, it climbed relentlessly until even the upper deck succumbed to destruction. As cracks ruptured the ground, terrified NPCs seized the opportunity to plunge into the dark sea, while the unfortunate ones tumbled downstairs, crushed to death by falling debris.

Meanwhile, the cocoon, which had regained its mobility, descended with a crushing weight, intending to crush the damn dog to death! But how could something like this deter Jin Jiuchi? He promptly wedged himself into the cocoon, taking advantage of the soft surface to shield his body!

A ke-ke sound escaped his lips as he continued to chew happily inside. Do you think you can get rid of me so easily? Not a chance!

Alas, he had forgotten that this act of his meant delivering his whole body to the queen. As he reveled in the mochi feast, all of a sudden, a few strands of sticky substance wrapped around his limbs and restrained him!

Shocked, Jin Jiuchi wanted to bite them off but before he could do that, he was dragged into the depths of the cocoon!
