Chapter 1766: Section 1767: The Cause of the Injury

After hearing Angel’s words, Little Six finally breathed a sigh of relief. According to Angel, if they’d delayed any longer, Helen’s Mental Power Value truly might have dropped.

Fortunately, she found Angel. Angel was also willing to help Helen; otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

In order to help Helen sort out her spiritual power, she naturally had to awaken first. Forcing her awake might stimulate her unstable spiritual power, so for now, all they could do was wait for her to wake up naturally.

Helen’s awakenings weren’t consistent, but she usually woke for a short period each day. Now, they just needed to wait.

During the wait, Angel wasn’t idle.

He planned to ask in detail how Helen got injured because only by understanding the situation could he make specific arrangements for treatment.

However, before asking this question, Angel had another doubt: "Where did Si Man go?"

Angel had seen Si Man a few times before. From Si Man’s demeanor, she seemed to harbor an unusual affection for Helen. Because of this, Si Man cared deeply for Helen, and with Helen injured and bedridden now, Si Man couldn’t possibly be wandering around.

Yet, Si Man wasn’t here now, which was somewhat odd.

When Little Six heard the name "Si Man," a flicker of gloom flashed in her eyes.

"Si Man... she... half a month ago, she..." Little Six paused, her tone tinged with sadness, "disappeared."

Disappeared? Angel’s face momentarily revealed a look of understanding. Although he was surprised to hear of Si Man’s disappearance, this explanation seemed to clarify why Si Man wasn’t by Helen’s side during her current predicament.

"How did she disappear?" Angel asked curiously. Half a month ago, the New Star Tournament had already ended. Judging by the current status of the contestants, Si Man should be training in the Endless Corridor, so why had she suddenly disappeared?

Little Six lowered her head, letting out a sigh: "Actually, Helen’s injury is also connected to Si Man’s disappearance."

Little Six began recounting the events from half a month ago—

Since Helen was staying at Little Six’s house, Si Man naturally stayed close to Helen and lived here as well. But Si Man was far more powerful than Little Six, and her cold and aloof personality meant that Little Six was closer to Helen.

After the New Star Tournament ended, Si Man, like the other contestants, began daily training in the Endless Corridor. According to Si Man’s own plans, this would likely continue for around a year.

Since Si Man spent so much time in the Endless Corridor, her companionship with Helen naturally diminished. Helen herself didn’t mind—her own abilities were weak, and she was still in the early stages of practice; she could train at Little Six’s place while exchanging insights with her. Si Man, however, felt a pang of guilt, believing she was neglecting Helen.

So, half a month ago, Si Man decided to take a few days off to spend time with Helen and check on her cultivation progress.

"Usually, I’m the one exchanging thoughts and sharing insights with Helen. Since Si Man had come back during those days, I didn’t disturb them. Besides, I was caught up with matters at the White Dove Library, so I didn’t return home during that time. When I finally finished my tasks and came back, I found Helen severely injured, stumbling back alone," Little Six said.

At that time, Little Six didn’t know what had happened either—only learning from the servants that, on that day, Si Man had gone out with Helen, seemingly intending to stroll and relax.

Later, Helen regained consciousness and shared part of the story.

Si Man had taken Helen out of the Sky Mechanical City to unwind, but along the way, they encountered a strange group of people. For reasons unknown, these people took an interest in Si Man and attempted to abduct her by force. Helen stepped forward to try to pull Si Man away, but she was overwhelmed by a powerful pressure and fainted.

When she woke up, Si Man was already gone, and Helen herself was gravely injured, eventually dragging herself back to Little Six’s home in misery.

"They encountered a strange group of people? Who were they?" Angel asked, puzzled. Could they be Si Man’s enemies?

"No idea; Helen didn’t say," Little Six replied. "Other than sharing those initial details on the first day, Helen has grown increasingly silent. Day by day, she’s said less and less, and now she hasn’t spoken a word for the past ten days."

"I think... she’s probably worried about Si Man."

Although Little Six didn’t know many details, she’d explained enough—the source of Helen’s injury was clear now.

Angel had suspected as much previously, and now it was confirmed. Helen’s injuries were caused by the pressure exerted by an Official Wizard.

The pressure not only inflicted physical harm on Helen but also severely damaged her spiritual power.

Now that the cause of her injury was known, dealing with her spiritual power wouldn’t be overly complicated, making the healing process easier.

As for the group that Helen and Si Man had encountered, Angel didn’t concern himself too much. For one, Si Man wasn’t particularly close to him; as long as Helen was fine, Si Man’s disappearance could be left for Shaloo Ridge to worry about.

Secondly, there didn’t seem to be anything overly unusual. Although it was odd for someone to immediately target Si Man, countless stranger events occurred in this world—there was no need to delve into everything.

Little Six, however, continued speculating and discussing the identity of those people.

One moment, she thought they might be Si Man’s enemies; the next, she wondered if they’d encountered some depraved individuals, her thoughts jumping rapidly between theories.

Annoyed by the noise, Angel cast a silencing illusion technique on Little Six, and the room instantly became quiet.

The golden hues of dusk gradually faded, and nightfall spread across the sky. From the garden outside came soft rustling from insects—it should have been noisome yet somehow made the night even calmer.

Towards midnight, the clouds shrouding the Sky Mechanical City dispersed, and moonlight spilled through the windows, making Helen’s already pale face appear even more colorless.

At this moment, after sleeping for most of the day, Helen finally opened her eyes.

As Helen woke, Angel lifted the silencing illusion from Little Six. However, having been mute for so long, Little Six now made no sound.

Upon waking, Helen instinctively turned her head towards the window.

This had been her habit in recent days: gazing out at the sky, pondering Si Man’s condition, and quietly sinking into a mix of sorrow and numb contemplation.

The night was beautiful, the moonlight even more so, and on the windowpane, the light cast two shadows.

Two shadows weren’t unusual, but... one of them appeared tall and imposing, seemingly a man?

On the second floor of Little Six’s house, men rarely stepped inside, let alone into her room!

Helen turned her head in puzzlement, wanting to see who it was.

When her eyes landed on the figure, she froze completely.

The moonlight framed the golden-haired young man’s sharply defined features, making them stand out even more prominently. Every trace of beauty seemed intertwined with the play of light and shadow.

"It’s... it’s... it’s you..." Helen stammered in disbelief, halfway through her sentence before abruptly changing her tone, "Lord Chaowei."

Angel smiled faintly: "It’s me. Long time no see."
